Mine are:

Being exceptionally good at slicing bread (straight, even slices every time, even on squishy, unevenly shaped loaves)

Uncannily accurate at guessing the time when I haven’t looked at a clock for hours - I’m never more than a few minutes out.

Tell me the things you can do that are not that impressive!

Diverami · 08/03/2021 14:26

I like untangling - yarn or wires.

thosetalesofunexpected · 08/03/2021 14:47

@KisstheTeapot14

I totally agree with your comments.

These unausaul /fascinating "niche" skills should be mentioned about and valued a lot more in our society in general.

I am very curious and intrigued by your interest and skill as a water dowsyer.

How did you get involved in doing water dowsying and is there any water dowsying societies in the uk ?
I live in wales uk.

Also are you intrigued curious about metal dectors?
And in Archeology too then?

And also about mud larking the social history aspects of this etc?

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 08/03/2021 14:50

I can open any jar 💪

thosetalesofunexpected · 08/03/2021 14:50

@KisstheTeapot14

Oops sorry I ment to say are you interested in metal detectoring for ancient coins etc then?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 08/03/2021 14:52

I am good at guessing plot twists

Oh me too! I nearly always get it right!

thecatneuterer · 08/03/2021 15:12

I can guess the weight of cats with remarkable accuracy.

FoodieLexie · 08/03/2021 15:21

I can tell the temperature. No need for a thermometer. I’m pretty much always accurate to within a degree.

KisstheTeapot14 · 08/03/2021 15:26

@thecatneuterer that is brilliant.

Ever tempted to suggest PTA (or similar) has a 'guess the weight of the cat competition?

Then to pretend to be really surprised that you won the wine/chocs?

KisstheTeapot14 · 08/03/2021 15:30

@thosetalesofunexpected I think it was a course run by local countryside rangers, or an open day at the farm (farmer liked traditional skills and crafts so was doing a challenge to dowse). Never done it since and never done it for metals like coins.

Yes I love archaeology. Watched 'The Dig' last night. The lady with the hunch got it right. Hugely significant find of Anglo Saxon ship burial.

See - hidden powers eh?

thosetalesofunexpected · 08/03/2021 15:33

@Snowdrop30
Stain Removal Queen

Can you help me please?
How can you get rid of a curry stain on a sofa ?

thosetalesofunexpected · 08/03/2021 15:40

@KisstheTeapot14

thanks for speedy reply back.

Very interesting that the lady who had "hunch" helped find that amazing Archeology find, on the TV series "The Dig".

I think I will find out when its next on, I missed that episode.

There is a well known country park reserve not far from where I live , i will enquire with the park Rangers or check on the internet to find out infor on your intriguing past time,water dowsying.

thosetalesofunexpected · 08/03/2021 16:01

I have very good six sense skills

I can tell by my intuition how someone is feeling.

I am also good at reading spiritual/psychic cards.

And I also good at doing pschomentary reading intuitively reading a personal item such as ring or bracelet ect , then giving a reading from this item about certain aspects of someone life
For e.g at a spiritual church , a random different kinds of Jewerelly was put on a tray a teatowell hiding items and we had to choose a item, I choose a ring that had jade stone and intuitively read that the person was looking for a holiday in Greece .(the jade stone in my mind ,I saw a image a map of Ancient Greece.

I also used to at break time do spiritual and psychic for my boss and work colleagues

I intuitively read that my former boss partner mother of his children would make a excellent human rights Lawyer.
He told me often his Partner friend often turn to her for advice for issues that they struggle to speak up about.
He told me she is very straight to the point , and is loyal friend who will speak up for people.
Does not suffer fools gladly type of person.

Also I freaked out a friend ,who is spiritually/psychically minded like me,
as I intuitively picked up when I did a reading for her spiritually that she had missed a important medical appointment.
My friend told me she had missed her cervical cancer check up appointment by three weeks

thosetalesofunexpected · 08/03/2021 16:10

My boss only told me about this information about his Partner mother of his children, about her personality type and that she helps out her friends in this way.

After I did the spiritual /psychic reading at work.

I also made friends with a alternative quiky couple , and after a few times intuitively sensed that they had a blue small car before,even though they had a silver car now.

I found out they this couple used to have a blue small car, before I ever met them.

Wallyandasnog · 08/03/2021 16:14

@Polomint11

My skill is that I never time anything I put in the oven, I just know (maybe by the smell?) When it'll be ready! Also I don't remember peoples birthdays, but always remember people's star signs, people who I might not have seen in years...And I always get the skin really crispy on roast chicken!
I have this cooking 'smell' skill too. People always think it's funny when I say 'dinner smells ready'
thosetalesofunexpected · 08/03/2021 16:21

This quiky alternative couple told me later on,
my intuition was correct and that they did used to have a blue small car
@EenyMeenyMinyNo

Its really good you listen to your instinct like that.

More people ,should listen to their instincts too.

It a primeval instinct (gut emotional instinct.

theres a American Author who has wrote a book called The Gift of fear ,he has worked for Anti -Terrisom Dept in American politics.

I can rember his name but he is well known.

He is been on Oprah Winfrey TV show.
Its fascinating and enlightening, how thought provoking weird and amazing the human mind really is.
@thosetalesofunexpected

I think you're thinking of Gavin De Becker?

Ddot · 08/03/2021 16:24

Fab at finding a bargain, really really talented at it.

FrankieFalcone · 08/03/2021 16:26

I’m still quite flexible at 50!

I can still put my hands on the floor with my legs straight and still get my foot behind my head Grin and that’s without doing any yoga etc!

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 08/03/2021 16:36

Another one i just remembered! ...

I am really good at "carrying" colours in my head....I have some blue material to make blinds with for the kitchen, bought it years ago. I picked out a paint test pot to match it, dh thought two others would be a better match. They were not. Mine was!

Same for clothes/wallpaper, anything really.

bex35 · 08/03/2021 16:46

I have this skill of smelling when dinner is ready too. How strange!
I can remember number plates instantly, not really useful.

This thread is a fascinating read so many talented people out there. A new tv show???

thosetalesofunexpected · 08/03/2021 16:47

@notanothertakeaway

I can pack a storage box/organise the fridge super efficiently to get lots in neatly.
I can make nice tasting tea using even crappy tea bags.
I can get a bread machine to reliably produce fluffy nice bread instead of rubbery sunken lumps.

thosetalesofunexpected · 08/03/2021 17:03

I am also intuitively good at visting a second hand charity shop sales and knowing what items of clothes and shoes that will look good,fit right .
For a friend/or a Actiquince who I have known for a short times,such as only knowing someone for a few weeks.

I am like one of those intuitive Clothes shopper advisor at a department stores ,Dehenhams ect.

I think I know what my next side line job could be now.😊

CaptainNelson · 08/03/2021 17:16

I can read upside down and not realise I'm doing it, which means that No Entry signs painted on the road cause me to swerve and panic - I don't notice that it's upside down until I think about it.
I can also always pick the right sized plastic tub for the leftovers. This annoys the hell out of my kids when I tell them that the tub they've picked is too small and they try to prove me wrong Grin
