Mine are:

Being exceptionally good at slicing bread (straight, even slices every time, even on squishy, unevenly shaped loaves)

Uncannily accurate at guessing the time when I haven’t looked at a clock for hours - I’m never more than a few minutes out.

Tell me the things you can do that are not that impressive!

I can remember friends phone numbers from 1980
I can't remember DPs mobile number tho!

PeppermintTea2021 · 09/03/2021 11:51

I am fantastic at gauging how long something will take or how long a journey will be. I am never late!

Fixing things with what comes to hand, there's always something you can mcgyver!

Remembering old places in ridiculous detail, right down to the skirting boards, its like i can zoom in on the memory.

toots111 · 09/03/2021 12:09

I can read really fast, and also have an amazing sense of direction that I really get lost, even in places I have never been before.

hansgrueber · 09/03/2021 12:13
**@hansgrueber* and @EggyPegg* is this a form of ambidexterity? My DM writes on paper with her right hand but on a white board with her left hand.
Apparently it is a form of ambidexterity but I can't do things equally well with both hands, except ironing! I always found it strange that no-one in my family, including me, noticed it until I was about 15/16. Someone once said that if you place a coin or something on the floor a couple of feet in front of you and then go to pick it up that tells you your dominent hand. Whilst I am right-handed, when I type I make fewer errors with my left hand!

Jack of all trades at work in a corporate job. My role seems to be an amalgamation of 8 different roles and I never do the same thing week in week out. Marketing one week, engineering the next etc.

maggiethecat · 09/03/2021 14:13

@PeppermintTea2021
I want your skills! 😁

ilovesushi · 09/03/2021 14:59

Adding to my underwhelming skill of earlier:

 • Can smell gas leaks that no one else can.
 • Innate sense of points of the compass wherever I am.
 • Can cut a block of cheese to exact weight required (but only in ounces!)
 • Also very good at tetris but never finished it - can there be a MN tetris championship please?

This is a life skill Ive never mastered! I can however touch my toes to my forehead without using my hands - just as useful...Grin

TheHateIsNotGood · 09/03/2021 15:51

Very good at 'cleaning' garden plots and beds, meticulously sorting out items into stones. weeds, and various bits and bobs, safely removing any glass bits. I am pretty crap at housework though.

Ddot · 09/03/2021 16:53

Predict stuff, 2019 saw covid coming. Friend was worried about north Korea starting a big bang. I said no it will be some proxy virus that causes bedlam. I dream stuff or just have witch vibes.

NutellaEllaElla · 09/03/2021 17:53

I can smell cat pee, where it shouldn't be even after a lot of cleaning.

Are you Mystic Meg?
CuntyMcBollocks · 09/03/2021 18:05

@BluebellsareBlue the way I fold a fitted sheet is by making sure the corners are all the same way, then finding the seam/corner bit on each side. I then fold the top part over so there's a straight line at the top, and bring my arms together in front of me. Tuck/fold in the unstraight bit and then fold down in thirds and then fold it in half again the other way.

joystir59 · 09/03/2021 18:12

Spookily good at spooning a whole jar off Nutella down my gullet without realising it. A bit like Pooh Bear emptying jars of honey when he only meant to taste it.

mainsfed · 09/03/2021 18:20

@joystir50 Grin I can hoover up a pack of Maryland cookies in minutes.

Ddot · 09/03/2021 19:46

@ mainsfed
Nope scare myself sometimes 🤣

5amisnotmorning · 09/03/2021 20:27

I can smell when it is going to snow

en0la · 09/03/2021 20:29

I am tall enough to reach the top shelf in my local shop.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 09/03/2021 20:35

Cutting in when painting and decorating.
Getting stains out of clothes (if I can be bothered)

Ddot · 09/03/2021 21:13

DIY botching

Ddot · 09/03/2021 21:16

Oh got another one, can put makeup on without a mirror

Ddot · 09/03/2021 21:19

@Naunet
I would think being that flexible would be a skill very sort after 😉

Mummyays · 09/03/2021 23:07

I have a brilliant long term memory, any memory I have I can tell the date, time, weather, location, smells and what I was wearing. This is going back since I was 5 I believe

I can also remember every word to every song I've consciously listened to and book I've read aloud!

I too used to have this skill. Then a year ago i got covid and now i can't smell any urine at all.
