Mine are:

Being exceptionally good at slicing bread (straight, even slices every time, even on squishy, unevenly shaped loaves)

Uncannily accurate at guessing the time when I haven’t looked at a clock for hours - I’m never more than a few minutes out.

Tell me the things you can do that are not that impressive!

Have just remembered another one. I am good at job applications especially the personal statement/supporting information bit. I am invited for interview every single time I apply for a job.

Jaffajam · 06/03/2021 22:36

I can reverse park like a Boss. I have, in the past, kind of predicted earthquakes. I guess it's like a sixth sense.

AndAPartridgeInABearTree · 06/03/2021 22:37

@Coppercreek

I am ridiculously good at 'catchphrase' it annoys everyone around me that it always clicks for me instantly.

I can find my way back once I've driven somewhere with no directions. Even if we are driving for 4 hours with loads of turns I can find my way back, I would also be able to drive there again without directions. It's like once I know a route it is burnt into my brain and I can reverse it

DH is like that with directions but can't map read for toffee. I have the map reading skill so I get us there and he gets us back!
Coppercreek · 06/03/2021 22:39

Interestingly I also can't map read! I am OK with maps like google that have the map coloured where you need to go but cannot read a general map.

AndAPartridgeInABearTree · 06/03/2021 22:41

I wonder which different bits of the brain it must involve? I'm presuming it must be different bits for the huge disparity in performance. But my logic tells me it should be the same bit of the brain!

JustDanceAddict · 06/03/2021 22:41

I have a ridiculous long-term memory. I can remember what I wore to some parties when I was a teenager 😆 and not ones I still have photos from.
My friends can’t believe some of the shite I remember, but I can cross the kitchen and forget what I needed in five seconds!!!

JustDanceAddict · 06/03/2021 22:43

Me too @MingeofDeath - but I am crap at interviews unfortunately.

YesPleaseMary · 06/03/2021 22:45

Time knower
Speed reader
Human compass
Tetris queen
Cooker of perfect rice every single time
Fitted sheet folder (YouTube is your friend...)

My MIL has got a fab superpower. She can give pills to cats as if she’s posting a letter. I have no idea how she does it.

AndAPartridgeInABearTree · 06/03/2021 22:47

@TheLumpySofaCushion

I can talk to any stranger about anything. Does that count?
I thought I could too. Till DH and I went on a coach tour and got sat on a table for dinner with the 2 most boring men I have ever met. I got absolutely hammered to get through the meal! We still refer to it as the yardstick to measure excruciating smalltalk by Grin
YesPleaseMary · 06/03/2021 22:48

Oh and I always win at the missing vowels round on Only Connect

ladygoingGaga · 06/03/2021 22:50

Ninja style reflexes, something falls from the counter in catch it before I realise I have.
Sat next to an older lady on a park bench and caught her when she fainted, look on her face was priceless.

I'm going to curse myself now but I'm really good at guessing a baby's gender from the 12 week scan picture. I used to think I was looking for the 'nub' but there have been times I've not been able to see that area very clearly and I can somehow just 'tell', a sort of gut feeling. I think I've only been wrong once.

AndAPartridgeInABearTree · 06/03/2021 22:57

DH can safely drive on the road whilst at the same time notice everybody in the cars going past in the opposite direction.

He'll be driving and say 'there's Simon who you used to work with' and me in the passenger seat completely misses it!

Teach me wise one.

DS2 ended up looking like Renton from Trainspotting last time I tried.

Crissy83 · 06/03/2021 23:01

@Mummadeze

I mentally calculate my shopping bill as I place everything on the conveyor belt and usually get it right within a few pence. It always makes me feel ridiculously proud but I have never told anyone before!
Yep me too! Can also tot up a restaurant villas we go and tend to question it when it's out by a few pounds. It's absolutely crazy how many places will try and fiddle an extra bottle or dish here and there!!
tinkywinkyshandbag · 06/03/2021 23:04

I can't do the clever things involving numbers that some of you do. But I do read very quickly, I can easily read a novel in a day. I also have a weird memory for obscure medical facts and conditions. I'm not a doctor.

AndAPartridgeInABearTree · 06/03/2021 23:25

If you show me just the front of a house on Rightmove I can tell you which area of the 2 closest towns to me it is. Very often I can narrow it down to an exact road but the new builds have thwarted my super power recently

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 06/03/2021 23:33

ooh the home hair cut reminds me, I can do that cute 5 year old blunt bob ...like the Petit Filous child, no tatty ends, no flicky out bits, no uneven sides!

People asked me who cut dd's hair and not in a horror struck way! :o

louisejxxx · 06/03/2021 23:39

I don’t need an alarm - my internal body clock “pings” if I know that I need to be up. The other day when it was school allocation day I was trying to stay up for midnight but got sleepy at about 11.15 and thought to myself as I nodded off “I’ll wake up on time or not too long after” - I woke at 11.58.

Think it helps I’m a very light sleeper and a naturally early riser...sometimes I wish I could sleep in.

Inaquandry19 · 06/03/2021 23:42

I read very quickly and also very good at knowing the time. I can also say the alphabet backwards really quickly.

Defender90 · 06/03/2021 23:43

I'm very good at guessing the mileage between two places that to be honest I couldn't point out on a map.

I work in the freight industry (admin role) and regularly amaze my colleagues with my ability.

Yellownotblue · 06/03/2021 23:49

I can hazard an uncannily accurate guess at any restaurant bill. My DH quizzes me every time we go out (or used to - I haven’t eaten out in ages). I’m rarely out more than a few percentage points.

Also Tetris, sudoku and spelling and grammar (in multiple languages).

And I can cook. Anything. I’m quite a catch ☺️

gumball37 · 07/03/2021 01:18

I can balance a folding chair on my index finger

QualityRoads · 07/03/2021 01:41

I can tell what's vertical or horizontal by eye as good as any spirit level.
I can estimate the cost of a trolley full of shopping without adding it up and can remember the price of each item I've bought.
I cannot fold fitted sheets. Wish I could!
