Mine are:

Being exceptionally good at slicing bread (straight, even slices every time, even on squishy, unevenly shaped loaves)

Uncannily accurate at guessing the time when I haven’t looked at a clock for hours - I’m never more than a few minutes out.

Tell me the things you can do that are not that impressive!

I’m amazing at reversing caravans. I’m great at reversing full stop but it’s when I get to a caravan site and have to back the caravan onto the pitch where I come into my element. I go away solo as well so do it without anyone waving me back, etc. People have come over before now to say how good I am.

When it’s time to leave I can back my car towbar onto the caravan hitch first time, no reversing camera or mirror. I’m hitched up and away in under five mins.

@Mummadeze

I mentally calculate my shopping bill as I place everything on the conveyor belt and usually get it right within a few pence. It always makes me feel ridiculously proud but I have never told anyone before!
Wow. I need these skills of yours!
RealisticSketch · 06/03/2021 08:11

This thread is making me feel like a talentless meat lump. 😆

WankmasterBastardDeLaShithead · 06/03/2021 08:17

I used to roll perfect joints.

lovablequalities · 06/03/2021 08:18

I can do even portions of food by eye pretty much dead on. I think it's from working in kitchens a lot in my youth. See also spidey sense for when the kitchen timer has 30 secs left.

I parallel park like a boss because I found it so hard when I started learning that I practised and practised and practised.

I really wish I could do the packing thing or the fitting things in the dishwasher/fridge. I sense these are related skills.

Belinda554 · 06/03/2021 08:18

I have the time skill too. Even if we’ve been out walking for hours, I’ll get it correct to within ten mins. It’s a strange gift, that’s my children love to test me on.

I’m also super good at calculating the shopping bill without trying, we actually play that game in the supermarket. ( we even ask the cashier to guess😂 )

toolazytothinkofausername · 06/03/2021 08:19

My piss is practically clear. When I used to take a sample to the midwife she honestly thought it was water. I drink a lot of water everyday. She was impressed. I felt proud Smile

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 06/03/2021 08:22

Most of my "super-powers" are auditory rather than visual (ironically, I am losing my hearing but my eyesight is still 20/20.)

If you have told me something verbally, I will be able to recall many of the details decades later, even if we've never met or talked about the subject since.

My brain seems to pattern-match much more readily than average, which means I often anticipate things and therefore have impeccable timing. EG at a complicated crossroads in my city with 5 roads joining and multiple pedestrian crossings plus tram and bus lanes, I learned the order of the lights, but also the impact of a tram passing through on its own track. This regularly leads to me being all the way across the road and on my merry way whilst everyone else is still stood waiting for the green man.

I can identify a piece of clothing by the noise it makes when dropped on the floor.

Not current, but when I was younger and worked in local newspaper advertising, you could give me the first 3-4 characters of any postcode in Kent, Sussex and Surrey (eg BN23) and I'd tell you what the town/district was. I can still tell you which "post town" any postcode prefix in the UK refers to.

I'm absolutely crap at recognising people by their faces (although can always place their voices.) I once walked past my then-fiance in the supermarket!

Confusedandshaken · 06/03/2021 08:22

I'm really, really good at choosing presents. They often seem odd choices but people are generally thrilled with what I get them.

That being said I have had two notable failures with gifts for my adult daughters. That was sad. 🙁

DinosApple · 06/03/2021 08:23

My roast potatoes are perfect every time, with loads of crispy bits.
Longer boiling (none of that parboil crap) longer roasting. And more fat and salt than is healthy Wink)

Aozora13 · 06/03/2021 08:25

I’m really good at spotting things eg birds, animals, fossils, shells

I usually know when someone is pregnant before they announce it, although no one knows this skill as I never say anything!

I’m good at memorising stuff

And to everyone saying you don’t have special skills, YOU DO you just haven’t realised they’re special yet.

hiredandsqueak · 06/03/2021 08:26

I have an internal alarm clock and wake at whatever time I set it to before I go to bed no matter what time or how little sleep I have.
I can knock up decent cakes without weighing ingredients because I can guess accurately what 150g of sugar/butter/flour etc looks like and I can tell by the batter at the end whether it is out at all and put it right.

Meredithgrey1 · 06/03/2021 08:26

I am brilliant at sudoku.

It’s not come in useful yet, but I’m sure one day it will Grin

ladygindiva · 06/03/2021 08:27

I'm amazing at untying knots, also cables etc - can't be the only ones with a large drawer of mostly unidentified chargers / cables / wires that need untangling regularly. And I actually enjoy it!

lazylump72 · 06/03/2021 08:27

Steady yourself OP for this underwhelming revelation...I can fit a super king sized duvet cover on the duvet and have it buttoned up on my own in under a minute..every time!!

RaspberryCoulis · 06/03/2021 08:27

In times when I'm allowed to volunteer in a charity shop, my super power is spotting and deciphering hallmarks on silver/gold. Not as easy as you might think sometimes.

ThatsNotTheTeaHunty · 06/03/2021 08:28

Never burning food and getting everything out on time. So if I say dinner is at 1. You will be eating at 1! Grin

I'm also quite good at knowing what route/roads we should take even if I've never been to this place before.

Numicon · 06/03/2021 08:33

Dogs like me. A few times, after making friends with a dog, the owner will be astonished that the dog was so calm with me.

GnomeDePlume · 06/03/2021 08:34

I tie shoelaces upside down which means I can tie someone else's shoelaces properly but not my own.

This was useful when DCs were small or if I had worked in a shoe shop. DCs are now grown up so I shall have to wait for GCs to find an outlet for this skill.

JellyfishandShells · 06/03/2021 08:36

@Oysterbabe

I can fall asleep in under a minute. My DH tosses and turns and worries about things. I just switch off my brain and fall immediately to sleep.
My husband has this fortunate talent - even on noisy planes.
alliejay81 · 06/03/2021 08:37

I have two. I'm very good at recognising people, I never forget a face. I can identify someone I haven't seen for years from behind by the way they walk.

I'm a good listen and have an exceptional memory. I can remember details people have told me that they can't remember they've told me. This occasionally comes across as stalkery but does mean I don't have to take notes in meetings (which is just as well as I'm a rubbish note taker).

Aspiringmatriarch · 06/03/2021 08:38

I'm very good at whistling, including on the inhaled, so I can whistle tunes without a pauseGrin. And I can read upside down as fluently as the right way up.

sagaLoren · 06/03/2021 08:39

I only have to listen to a song a couple of times and the lyrics will stay in my head...forever. Often I'll be listening to a song and thinking I've never heard it before and then suddenly I'm singing along to the entire rap interlude. I don't know why this happens as normally I have a pretty appalling memory - maybe because I've filled up all the available space with bloody Nicky Minaj and Ace of Base.

Teapotsandtablecloths · 06/03/2021 08:41

I can remember the lyrics to most songs I've heard. 😂 Useless but good for karaoke.

IvySquirrel · 06/03/2021 08:41

Spelling
Reading fast
Able to accurately cut a block of butter to get the exact weight I need for baking!
