Mine are:

Being exceptionally good at slicing bread (straight, even slices every time, even on squishy, unevenly shaped loaves)

Uncannily accurate at guessing the time when I haven’t looked at a clock for hours - I’m never more than a few minutes out.

Tell me the things you can do that are not that impressive!

@CrayonInThreeBits

Is there something about Tetris/punctuation skillz that's inextricably linked to having the grace and coordination of a drunken newborn giraffe? Sometimes I think I'm more bruise than human.
Yes! I’m also a whizz at Tetris (only person I know to have completed it on gameboy years ago and get the full orchestra playing) and good at proofreading (can even see double spaces between words) but have absolutely shit coordination. I’ll still walk into the doorframe of a door that’s a metre wide and I don’t think I’ve ever not been bruised somewhere on my body in my whole life.

Weirdly, I’m brilliant at proofreading but crap at typing, so I often need to re-type words due to swapping letters round and hitting the wrong key.

Bluetrews25 · 06/03/2021 06:53

I'm cross dominant, too. Power grip with right hand, precision grip with left. Spoon in left hand, fork in left hand.
If I ever get a feeling about if a pregnant woman is carrying a boy/girl, I am always 100% wrong. But if I take this wrongness into account I cannot make a decision at all.
In the days when DH used to work away and arrive home very late at night, I always used to wake up 5 mins before he arrived. And I used to be able to divine when he was going to phone me in a few minutes. (Never a set time.)

springisintheair2021 · 06/03/2021 07:05

I can look at any length up to a few metres and immediately know what it is ( to the nearest cm)

Indiaplain · 06/03/2021 07:06

I remember birthdays, sometimes in a weird way, and wont say anything for fear of looking like a stalker. Like I will remember a school mums birthday (who I hardly know), and also friends from school who I haven't seen for years.

sweetnessnfight · 06/03/2021 07:26

I can flip 25 beer mats off the side of a table and catch them all. Sign of Amis spent youth.

mrstea301 · 06/03/2021 07:31

I can make good scrambled eggs. I'm also very proud of the fact that when filling the car with diesel, I can finish in a round number, eg £20.00, every time. My DH is getting a bit fed up with getting a photo as proof every time 😂

Also good at spotting spelling / grammar mistakes, but I think that's because I read a lot!

mrstea301 · 06/03/2021 07:32

@Chicchicchicchiclana

I can fold a fitted sheet really neatly. Also, socks.
Any tips for the fitted sheets? I'm awful at these!
Chanel05 · 06/03/2021 07:35

If I am having a bad dream/nightmare, I'm aware that I'm just asleep, that it isn't real and pinch myself awake.

Oysterbabe · 06/03/2021 07:37

I can fall asleep in under a minute. My DH tosses and turns and worries about things. I just switch off my brain and fall immediately to sleep.

TiniestFluffiestBunny · 06/03/2021 07:38

I always hone in on the word I'm looking for in wordsearches without actually having to "search" for it. My eyes just go straight to it.

@LadyOfLittleLeisure

"Uncannily accurate at guessing the time when I haven’t looked at a clock for hours - I’m never more than a few minutes out." Omg, omg, omg me too! My mum has this ability too! I think there's a secret magical society of us!!! My husband gets annoyed that I go on about my "power" so much 🤣🤣🤣
As long as you only use it for Good, and never for Evil. Grin

I can pick stuff up and feel to within a few grams what it weighs.

Peace43 · 06/03/2021 07:40

I can read very very fast and fully comprehend what I’m reading. A blessing and a curse. Pre kindle I could never carry enough reading material to last a decent length train journey or a short flight let alone trans-continental. Loved my kindle as I can take a whole bookcase away with me now!!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 06/03/2021 07:40

LOL! Grin

MoltenLasagne · 06/03/2021 07:41

Nobody spotted I needed glasses as a kid until I was really short sighted. As a consequence I can "read" from the rough shape of words rather than actually seeing the letters.

When I go to the opticians I have to explain that I know what the letters are but can't actually see them - they understand what I mean though so I think it must be quite common!

Goldenhedgehogs · 06/03/2021 07:42

It's not a skill but I am very vain about it. I have o- negative blood which means my blood can mostly be used on anyone. I donate blood and they make a fuss of me! I secretly imagine there has been a disaster so I turn up to give blood and I am greeted like a hero. I feel like inside I am a supermodel, the reality is sadly quite different!

BoKatan · 06/03/2021 07:44

I can write perfectly in mirror writing with no hesitation.

TeenMinusTests · 06/03/2021 07:45

@mrstea301I learned this from The Goldbergs on TV.

To fold a fitted sheet with a second person. Hold the end of the seam that makes the corner, not the edge of the sheet in each hand. The part of the sheet that makes the sides flops inwards, but you and the other person are holding a perfect rectangle. Then fold together as normal.

I can write both forwards and backwards with both hands.

BruceAndNosh · 06/03/2021 07:45

I was going to crow about my awesome fitted sheet folding skills but I see that's commonplace.
We must have all watched the same Martha Stewart video ten years ago

Loftyloft · 06/03/2021 07:46

I can make my ears pop without swallowing. Useful on airplane takeoffs.

MrsLighthouse · 06/03/2021 07:50

I NEED to know how to fold a fitted sheet !! Unless it’s a secret and has to be kept ...like a magician’s trick ..

VivaBahhumbug · 06/03/2021 07:53

Due to being a frequent international traveller I am absolutely brilliant at picking up a packed suitcase and guessing its weight.

I thrill and astound myself with my level of accuracy every time.

Chickychickydodah · 06/03/2021 07:57

I’m good at remembering my bank account and card number ( the long one too ) 🤪

Tomcullenisahero · 06/03/2021 08:03

Yes! I can do this too. When online shopping I don't need to find my card, I know all the details, expiry and security code. Great when lazy, not great for the bank account lol

When I check the oven timer - whether it’s set for 5 minutes or 5 hours - it’s always in it’s final 3 seconds.

I have an acute sense of smell. With teenager sons, this is not a fun thing. But I can smell when someone is ill a few hours before they show symptoms.

I suspect these are linked - that I subconsciously pick up “that smells done” so go to check the oven timer. But I don’t know.
