Mine are:

Being exceptionally good at slicing bread (straight, even slices every time, even on squishy, unevenly shaped loaves)

Uncannily accurate at guessing the time when I haven’t looked at a clock for hours - I’m never more than a few minutes out.

Tell me the things you can do that are not that impressive!

I'm amazing at placing faces. If I'm watching a movie, I can look at the extras or characters on screen for one line, and I'll know them if they've been in something else I've seen. Never forget a face. Even did it as a child, like watching Jurassic Park with my mum and when the scientist came onscreen I took a couple of seconds to say, "oh, he had a line in Karate Kid 2" which I had only seen once before that. He was on screen for a flash while saying a line but I never forget a face. My mum thought i was a witch child.

tulippa · 06/03/2021 00:27

I make extremely good sandwiches. Smile

lighteincastlewindow · 06/03/2021 00:28

writing with my left hand as good as my right. Though not ambidextrous. Facial recognition.

Bvop · 06/03/2021 00:32

I can have a traybake in the oven in 10 minutes, from zero, and finishing with a clean kitchen.

Ericaequites · 06/03/2021 00:34

I can thread needles very quickly. Although my dear departed Dad was useless at most tasks, he taught me to shine shoes quickly and fold fitted sheets nearly. His uncles had a linen rental business, so he learnt that before he was twelve.

PurpleSproutingSomething · 06/03/2021 00:57

I'm a super recogniser.

Those who can guess the time, do you always know what day it is without thinking? Like the time between Christmas and New Year?

PercyPug · 06/03/2021 01:00

I can balance a stack 30 coins on my upturned elbow, flick my arm down and catch them all.

caringcarer · 06/03/2021 01:00

I am good at talking my way out of difficult situations.

grassisjeweled · 06/03/2021 01:13

Expertly choose the right Tupperware for the amount of food to be stored.

areyoumeop · 06/03/2021 01:20

a friend of mine is remarkable at remembering small details, we were
talking about something from the past and she could recall what day of the week and even the actual dates. After being in hospital she wrote a letter of thanks and named all the people she had met during her stay.

I'm very good at waking up one minute before the alarm goes off.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 06/03/2021 01:23

I can memorise the lyrics to songs after a couple of listens, and never forget them. I probably know thousands. I take after my dad on that one.

UnderperformingSeal · 06/03/2021 01:38

I somehow know when I've drunk enough out of the glass that the rest of the bottle/can will fill it to exactly the top.

ThePriceOfSugar · 06/03/2021 02:06

I can find lost things. I drunkenly dropped my phone somewhere between home and a busy clubbing street one night and found it in working order 2 days later. Mental retracing

RavingAnnie · 06/03/2021 02:29

I'm very good at cling film. I tear it perfectly without using the aerated thing and very rarely bugger it up and get it all caught up. My DH cannot do cling film at all.

It's odd because I am not very good at anything practical and am usually pretty cackhanded but am all over the clingfilm!

Sadly (or not) disposable plastic is not the way out so my one skill is a dying art.

Poppins2016 · 06/03/2021 02:36

@SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge

Christ these are like some ninja level skills. Folding a fitted sheet, this is impossible!!!!!
@SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge

Folding a fitted sheet is so easy, you won't look back once you know how!

www.marksandspencer.com/c/style-and-living/folding-a-fitted-sheet

If you google search, there are loads of images which will show you, too.

Forestcantrun · 06/03/2021 02:52

I have an unreal sense of smell. Both a hindrance and a help in a hospital !!

I am also most excellent at touchtyping. It is not something one would expect me to be able to do but my littlest DC tells people it is my party trick🤣

Poppins2016 · 06/03/2021 02:55

@mamakoukla

Ability to recognize if things are lining up properly eg a painting is hanging straight, where folds need to happen to give correct sizes for paper, lining up items. I think it’s because I have no stereo vision/limited depth perception so I naturally measure things up against each other
I can do this, too. Handy when doing DIY! The only need for a spirit level in our house is to prove that I'm right... Grin
CrappyGarage · 06/03/2021 03:44

@ChewedClickyPen I’m the same with the raffle thing and I’ve never met anyone else like this! I remember the first time, it was a school fair and there was a raffle draw to win this huge cuddly toy dog. As the teacher was putting his hand into the bag to pick the ticket I remember just thinking “I’ve won this” and I even starting getting ready to get up to go and collect it before they’d read my number out.

Every time I’ve won anything as an adult I’ve had the same feeling and I’m never wrong. It’s very odd. I also tend to “just know” other things, i sometimes wonder whether I have some sort of window into the future and then I realise that’s batshit and I’m a sensible scientist but still

I am also remarkably good at one handed catching.

I always know when people are lying.

I remember anything and everything I’ve ever bought and how much it cost and where it’s from.

Unfortunately I am physically incapable of being on time, folding things or cooking.

CrappyGarage · 06/03/2021 03:55

Also, Not mine, but a friend at work can immediately tell if someone is pregnant. Like even if it later turns out they were only a few days pregnant at the time. It’s like she can smell the HCG.

londonscalling · 06/03/2021 05:27

I'm good at doing maths quickly in my head, particularly percentages. It just seems to come naturally!

youdialwetile · 06/03/2021 06:02

I can flare my nostrils on demand.

SexyGiraffe · 06/03/2021 06:11

I'm very good at remembering song lyrics and can sing lots of classic standards and show tunes on demand. DD loves it.

joystir59 · 06/03/2021 06:15

I can't think of anything. Confused

SimonJT · 06/03/2021 06:19

@BlueLikeASmurf

I have very, very flexible toes. I can pick up things and write - although fairly badly - using my toes.

DH calls me 'Chimp Feet' but he's just jealous methinks. I am very proud of this skill. I did suggest to DH that if I had serial killer tendencies I could kill people using my super flexible toes to deploy various weapons and because finger prints and toe prints don't match - and the police don't routinely take toe prints - I would never be caught. He just went a bit pale and shut up. Grin Grin

My boyfriend can do this too, its a skill he learned as he has limited use of his hands. He is quicker using a fork with his feet compared to his hands.
Eatingsoupwithafork · 06/03/2021 06:37

I’m good at waking up 1/2 minutes before my alarm goes off. This has served me well recently given my DD is going through a phase of coming in to my bed at 3ish in the morning and I’m usually needing to be up at 5.30!
