DS asked for some crisps for a snack, I said yes he could have some. DH started going on and on about how he should have grapes instead, or kiddilicious baby crisps.

I do all meals and snacks for both, as DH working in study.

I really try my best to cook with the children, encourage plenty of fruit and veg in their diet, and every so often if my son asks for crisps, say yes. I can't get worked up about it, but DH says they will make DS 'uncultured' Hmm

Reading that back I know I'm not BU and wish I could delete my stupid little post lol

'Uncultured'? Your DH is being a pretentious fool.
Everything in moderation.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 05/03/2021 15:48

Uncultured😁😁

Nah, they won’t. Let him have them occasionally. All ours had them. They grew up to be quite ‘cultured’

TakeTheCuntOutOfScunthorpe · 05/03/2021 15:49

Tell the cocklodger to make the children a snack himself, if that fails then LTB.

Why do you even have crisps in the house? If they're yours, your DH is insulting you, if they are his, he is a hypocrite.

hermionieweasley · 05/03/2021 15:49

I know. Ignore my post. Going to eat some uncultured crisps myself Grin

@TakeTheCuntOutOfScunthorpe I bought them for DS Grin

Get Dh some yoghurt

Your husband sounds like a judgemental snob.

I eat crisps. My partner eats crisps. Shock horror - my 2 yr olds sometimes share a packet of crisps. We are all slim, active and healthy.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 05/03/2021 15:51

What crisps are the most uncultured?
Baked ones?
Monster Munch?
French Fries?
Wotsits?
Quavers?

How do you differentiate between perceived levels of unculture?🤔

Liquorishtoffee · 05/03/2021 15:52

Liquorishtoffee · 05/03/2021 15:53

I was going to make a King Edwards joke there...

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 05/03/2021 15:53

I love French Fries and have a degree Confused I wonder what eating Pom Bears does to your brain? Are Quavers worse than Watsits?

Anyway OP were they the red bag, blue or brown?

SquirtleSquad · 05/03/2021 15:53

My 19 month old is known to enjoy a Pom Bear or two (hundred)

Wotsits definitely as my DD leaves her orange little finger prints everywhereGrin
WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 05/03/2021 15:54

😢🙄tell him the Queen eats crisps, so he should ask her she what she thinks of his 'uncultured' bollocks!

No idea if she does or not, but neither does he 🤣& you can legitimately say you read it somewhere 🤣🤣

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 05/03/2021 15:55

Ds7 has been having an absolute junk food day, including crisps. Working with kids at home (just me and them) so occasionally something has to give!

kooked · 05/03/2021 15:55

kiddilicious baby crisps

I've never heard of these, maybe they're after my time, but they sound expensive and utterly pointless. Junk/snack food aimed at toddlers always are. Just give them regular stuff in moderation.

Your DH should take over all food prep and parenting if he want to have that attitude. No? Well he can stfu then!

Hankunamatata · 05/03/2021 15:57

Could you get him to put crisps on levels of being uncouth?

RenegadeMrs · 05/03/2021 15:58

Obviously your mistake was not feeding DS those Truffle Cheese Kettle Chips they do at Xmas, or perhaps Burt's Firecracker lobster.

Whatever you do though, do try to avoid Iceland's lobster cocktail. Everyone knows they are just 80's prawn cocktails trying to get upmarket.

toomanyplants · 05/03/2021 15:59

Seriously..... how did you not just laugh in his face 😂

Alexandernevermind · 05/03/2021 16:00

I always remember going through our local town with my bored DD in a push chair. I tipped some Quavers into her tray as a bribe, and honestly the reaction from a complete stranger would make you think I had given her rat poison.

Tal45 · 05/03/2021 16:04

At that age I'd just give him a few rather than a whole packet, the amount of fat, and salt particularly, in crisps is ridiculous. I had no idea crisps were uncultured, perhaps give him some caviar to dunk them in - or is dunking uncultured too :-D x

maddiemookins16mum · 05/03/2021 16:04

My cats paws smell of Wotsits.

Marmite27 · 05/03/2021 16:05

Uncultured Confused my 3 year old had a packet of skips earlier. She’s definitely common.

Brown = spicy here. It’s a good job they come in single flavour multipacks as we all row over them Grin
