I mean on Facebook posts, sites where people are asking for items to be donated etc
I just think if you're going to post, at least check what you've written!
To name a few:
Your / you're
Draws for drawers
There / their / they're
To / too
How do others feel?

OP posts:

@Janegrey333

The fact that the title has a word omitted is no big deal. The OP’s point is valid. Why are some of you so juvenile - and “rude”?
Grin Grin Grin

One of the most prolifically unkind, unpleasant and judgemental posters on MN doesn't like people being 'rude' Confused

@Okbussitout

Beautiful!

Some people don't have the privilege of eduction to know the difference. Some people have dyslexia. Some people have English as a second language. Some people are judgmental twats. 🤷‍♀️

This.
peak2021 · 05/03/2021 13:48

I don't think it is irrational to want words spelt correctly. Providing you make allowances for those who have dyslexia or for whom English is an additional language.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 05/03/2021 20:31

Has this thread been bumped today? Wink

Correct.

Love when that happens. 😌
It is not fair game slagging off someone less educated either excluding dyslexia and 2nd language.

Slub · 06/03/2021 21:57

Not read the thread but lol lol lol at your thread title. Ironic much?

Youllbeoldertoo · 07/03/2021 08:10

Oh op. How embarrassing for you.

@Macaroni46

Janegrey333 · 07/03/2021 12:49

So many posters are being really stupid. 🙄
Yes, a word had been erroneously omitted from the thread title but that is merely a slip. The OP is very unlikely to do that the next time she posts a thread.

However, if your spelling is poor - or your use of grammar - then you will make those mistakes, time after time, unless you actually learn to use English properly.

Sigh...

Unless you stalk people regularly and constantly check their grammar, how do you know that it’s not just a one off mistake like the OP?

🤷🏻‍♀️

StepOutOfLine · 07/03/2021 17:41

@1Morewineplease

Spelling and grammar mistakes really annoy me and make me want to stab at my phone, furiously. That being said, I have also fallen foul to autocorrecting. However, this is my issue and I'm rather loathe to pick anyone up on it, but I do take great issue with anyone that says 'could/would/should of' That is plainly lazy and dyslexia has nothing to do with it.
You're rather what? Wink Glass houses etc.
Macncheeseballs · 07/03/2021 17:52

Janagrey333 - surely 'at least check what you've written' applies to the op too

BeeDavis · 07/03/2021 18:21

What an absolute vegetable ☠️☠️☠️

Quite often there’s is a “should of” or similar nonsense in there too. It’s not all about spelling or making a typographical error.
Janegrey333 · 07/03/2021 18:58

...there is...

Oh and autocorrect loves playing games! Lol

Her post said people should check what they've written before posting. She obviously, and embarrassingly, didn't heed her own advice.
Iggly · 08/03/2021 07:33

And who gives a flying fuck?

fluffysocks89 · 08/03/2021 08:58

Yanbu. It’s a pity that you made that simple mistake in your Op.In typical MN fashion it just could not be overlooked. But I too get irrationally annoyed at all the continuous spelling mistakes.

StepOutOfLine · 09/03/2021 06:39

@Janegrey333

I couldn't agree more that it's not all about spelling and "typographical error".

Though I see you don't share the same concerns about punctuation and lexis. That's quite surprising, given your prescriptivism. Still, I expect we'll put that down to "typographical error" as well, shall we? .

Someone linked to an interesting article on one of the more recent "let's laugh at the thickos who write Chester Drawers" threads. About how the people who stalk social media pointing out other people's mistakes tend to be far less proficient language users than a) the people who don't and b) they think.

mummywantstobeslim · 09/03/2021 06:42

Take a chill pill. It's not exactly important in the grand scheme of things.

Wiredforsound · 09/03/2021 06:52

Leaving aside your own error, no I don’t. Not at all. As long as I can understand what someone is trying to say I have no interest in minor grammatical errors, or whatever you want to call them. If criticising spelling and grammar is all you’re concerned about, rather than trying to engage with the substance of what is actually being said, you really need to give your head a wobble.

sashh · 09/03/2021 06:58

I get irritated when people don't know what a homophone is. Please don't get me started on the MN 'acronyms', they are not acronyms.

OverByYer · 09/03/2021 07:00

I get irrationally when people type thread titles that make no sense
