I mean on Facebook posts, sites where people are asking for items to be donated etc
I just think if you're going to post, at least check what you've written!
To name a few:
Your / you're
Draws for drawers
There / their / they're
To / too
How do others feel?

Haha Grin i think you’ve answered your own thread there OP. Shit happens!

XenoBitch · 04/03/2021 20:53

I don't care. It is Facebook, not an academic essay.

SpiceRat · 04/03/2021 20:55

Glass houses and all that.

Some of us are dyslexic. We still manage better grammar that you though. 😂😂👏👏

Itsamess8456 · 04/03/2021 20:55

I have a dyslexic dh. He's the most intelligent man I know but his spelling is beyond awful. I might have judged before but not now. Also, I had a colleague who spelling was awful due to experiencing horrendous bullying at school so she missed most of her time in education. She has no self confidence now.

I really wouldn't worry about other people's spelling.

Newnamefor2021 · 04/03/2021 21:08

Your title is the perfect example of why you shouldn't judge. I'm dyslexic, I can spell, I've done pretty well academically but it takes me quite a bit of time to proof read what I have written. I tend to write and type as they sound in my head (and I'm deaf too so that's fun 😆) and then I go back and reread it and correct with the correct spellings. Which if I'm writing informally, I often don't do or at least only a half arsed attempt. I'm pretty lazy too.

It often takes me longer to proof read than it does to type or write things out. Autocorrect is both an amazing resource and hell on earth.

It must be amazing to just be able to be confident that you are writing correctly the first time. The amount of time that would save me! However, your example in the title proves that no one is infallible.

You don't know why someone has made the mistakes they have. Are you really to judge someone who hasn't had the same advantages as you? Or the person who has a learning disability? Or perhaps they are trying to respond while multitasking or lack of sleep etc. Even if it's just laziness, why is that your business?

If you don't understand what they are saying then just don't answer. I often come across posts that's are just too difficult to work out and I leave them.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 04/03/2021 21:13

I think I'm incredibly lucky I had a good early education . People don't do it on purpose and to be so rude is unkind . They don't know which one to use and either guess or use the wrong on without realising. Someone near me goes on about being kind and an empath etc but slags off people with bad grammar , it's just rude !! Count yourself lucky you are smart and had a good education! 🙄🙄

Okbussitout · 04/03/2021 21:15

Beautiful!

Some people don't have the privilege of eduction to know the difference. Some people have dyslexia. Some people have English as a second language. Some people are judgmental twats. 🤷‍♀️

Okbussitout · 04/03/2021 21:16

@DynamoKev

Hoist by your own potato OP
I think I'm going to say this from now on. Love it!
WeatherwaxOn · 04/03/2021 21:17

Well, I am horribly pedantic so it is the sort of thing that annoys me.
I understand that people have dyslexia, but among the dyslexics I know, they don't make these sorts of errors. I've had a former friend (we didn't fall out over grammar) say that she " couldn't be bothered" to check her spelling as "they no what I mean".

FOJN · 04/03/2021 21:23

"they no what I mean".

Did she say that or write it? If you're quoting what she said then you've made a mistake.

Dyslexic people not dyslexics.
Janegrey333 · 04/03/2021 22:00

OP

I do too. Correct your title!!!!

Janegrey333 · 04/03/2021 22:04

The same as you. People should be educated enough to write such basics correctly. (People with dyslexia are not included in that group, obviously.) Everyone else who was born in the UK should be able to spell properly, be familiar with grammar and write legibly.
Janegrey333 · 04/03/2021 22:10

The friend wrote it, surely. The OP has used inverted commas.
Janegrey333 · 04/03/2021 22:12

The fact that the title has a word omitted is no big deal. The OP’s point is valid. Why are some of you so juvenile - and “rude”?
