To be annoyed that our local tescos have changed their P&C spaces to disabled.

There was a letter in the local paper from a disabled person saying that the P&C spaces weren't needed and that they should be changed to disabled ones.

Even though there is disabled spaces about 1 min walk from the door anyway.

They've now got rid of P&C spaces and replaced them with yet more disabled!! Theres about 30 of them now but no-where for the mum and kids.

Am I being evil?

I remember when I had a temporary disabled badge. I wrecked my knees in a skiing accident and had surgery after surgery.

I was only 25 and for a while, I wondered if I'd ever be able to walk again without pain.

Swore on my life that I'd never, ever be one to complain about walking across a damn car park.

Count your blessings, people!

It's like being the first person seen in the A&E, you don't want to go there.

Jenswish · 05/11/2007 19:31

Ok,

I've learnt my lesson, P&C bays not desperate for and I'll just make sure when my little 'un arrives I shop when everyone else is at work.

Cheers all,

ah complaints about them are a pita rather than the spaces themselves, that makes sense now. Why don't people just park, shop and go home. Everyone wants to complain all the time (well not everyone all the time obviously).

expatinscotland · 05/11/2007 19:32

Online ordering.

Going to the supermarket alone whilst your partner is at home with the wee one.

Parking in the back and walking.

There's a whole range of options.

expatinscotland · 05/11/2007 19:32

I agree, CS.

The older I get, the more I'm convinced: many people like to hear the sound of their own voice whinging.

ChasingSquirrels · 05/11/2007 19:35

unless it is a very very small space I have never had trouble getting either of the boys out, I try to give ds2 more room (I have to get him out), and if it takes room away from ds1's side then he climbs over and comes out through ds2's. He does this on busy roads anyway so is used to it.
I do use P&C spaces, because it is easy, but I don't expect them.

I'm handing out tin hats, who wants one?

Clara - I like your idea. If they could do that it'd be sooo good.

they are a nice to have i must admit but certainly not essential.

beeper · 05/11/2007 19:55

In our city car park there is a whole level that is disabled and on really busy days you sometimes have to leave the carpark because there are no spaces but nearly the whole of the disabled level is empty!

olsmum · 05/11/2007 19:59

i think people would agree when i say...
i dont care where the spaces are in relation to the entrance, i want them because you get more room and you dont get some numpty parking so close you cant even get out the car let alone get a child unbuckled, buckled in etc.
i went to tesco today and realised they have actually changed some disabled spaces to p+c so was very happy (not sure if they maybe changed some other p+c spaces to disabled nearer the entrance though)

"i want them because you get more room and you dont get some numpty parking so close you cant even get out the car"
I think everybody wants extra space when this happens not just parents with children.

tigger32 · 05/11/2007 20:07

Ok I can see where most of you are coming from BUT, my local store has only a few p&C spaces so it's not often you get one, and I have on more than 1 occasion had to get a member of staff to stand with ds so i can move the car out of a regular space just so I can open the door wide enough to fit the car seat through! Its not an option for me to simply leave my ds with dh as he is on call most of the time and my local store doesn't do Internet delivery in my area. So where would you suggest I and i'm sure many others in my position park??

In a normal space like we used to do in the good old days before P&C.

tigger32 · 05/11/2007 20:10

I can't believe it took me so long to rant all these messages appeared! What a great idea clara!

Why do you need to life the car seat out?

Are there no nany trollies at your Tesco?

I used to lift ds & dd out of their seat & strap them into the bay seat at Tesco

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 05/11/2007 20:13

lol listen at you Fio - now you've reached the big 30

Eee when I were a lass we only had trolleys with one toddler seat. None of these doubles and baby ones.

tigger32 · 05/11/2007 20:14

fiofio I have tried several times to get shopping delivered but they don't deliver in my area! Maybe you should get your facts right before attacking [angry}

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 05/11/2007 20:15

Or online shopping. Three kids under 5 and a trip to Tesco. Oh joy!

tigger32 · 05/11/2007 20:16

fiofio "or walk" ok i'll walk the 5 miles to asda with 2 ds's then walk back with 7 or 8 full shopping bags!! Get real
