to ask if you ever wonder about certain posters/threads?

i’ve used MN for years, and i often think about particular threads or posters that stuck out to me or i interacted with ages ago that i haven’t been able to find (or just seemed to stop posting without a trace) since then.

anyone else get strangely nostalgic/curious thinking back to threads/posters and wonder what became of them?

I always wondered what happened to Cog. She disappeared around the hacking time a few years ago.
I always thought she gave excellent advice.
I hope she's ok

freckles20 · 05/03/2021 16:25

@GBand yes that's it. Thank you.

Charmatt · 05/03/2021 16:47

I often wonder how @coatsprotectionleague is, whether she left and I hope she found a better life.

Also the lady in NZ - I hope she divorced her feckless husband and got away from his family but I hope she managed to take the children too.

She was brilliant. And didn't project into other people's relationship stories her own situation which I'm afraid another relationship stalwart did.

@Yesididmeantobesorude I always think about her too. She helped me to work something out and I’ll always remember her

HollowTalk · 05/03/2021 18:32

Does anyone remember scottishmummy?

SecretWitch · 05/03/2021 18:38

Does anyone remember scottishmummy?
Yes..I loved her and her no nonsense posts. Someone up thread let me know she posts under a new name now.

@IWantMyHoney

All the time. I'm a serial name changer but have been here 10 years. I remember lots of names from around the time I joined that I no longer see around anymore. One post in particular always stuck with me, a mnetter was really struggling with how her house had become, overwhelmed by how much there was to do. A team of local mumsnetters went round to do it with her, cleaning and decluttering every room. It was so heartwarming. Some people who lived too far away to help, had ordered pizzas to be delivered at lunchtime.
Sorry forgot the quote to go with it!
LadyEloise · 06/03/2021 00:13

*@C*harmatt
I too wonder how the poster in New Zealand is doing. I can't remember her username.

Listener2021 · 06/03/2021 00:56

I remember Pink Peter- the night of his heart transplant. Was his wife called Misty? I hope he stayed well.
Also Miasmum who planted a wood in memory of her red headed little girl.

And Riven who made David Cameron take of his shoes.

I have been here too long, I think.

OhCaptain · 06/03/2021 02:50

But have you been here long enough for Mitmoo??? 👀👀👀

Listener2021 · 06/03/2021 07:26

Alas, no.

GBand · 06/03/2021 09:38

@OhCaptain I was just thinking about mitmoo.

LittlestBoho · 06/03/2021 09:51

Why can we not talk about Mitmoo though? I remember her and she was a goady fucker, but there are loads of goady fuckers on here. Unfortunately I missed her grand finale; I stupidly went out for the night and when I checked in the next morning all the boards were in carnage with threads popping in and out of existence every 2 minutes and a permanent gagging order being put in place 😂

Does anyone remember Beesimo from the same era? She wrote like an old gypsy lady telling a story around a campfire "twas a cold, cold night when the lawmen came. Small children hid under their beds as though the De'el himself was coming and the frost chilled your bones like an ice river..."

BIWI · 06/03/2021 10:02

Yes. She was an incredibly persistent and irritating troll.

C8H10N4O2 · 06/03/2021 10:16

I think she got herself banned over some posts in the feminism topic
I may have misremembered though

Was't the webchat where she had the temerity to ask a politician a question they didn't like the issue which resulted in the ban? Apparently we should accept whatever non answer a politician gives without pushing for an answer. The webchats have largely become PR exercises for politicians or someone plugging their latest book/tv/diet.

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/03/2021 15:05

Ah yes C8. It's all coming back to me now.

StepOutOfLine · 06/03/2021 15:08

@Listener2021

Alas, no.
Mitmoo was after Riven and DC.
StepOutOfLine · 06/03/2021 15:11

Beesimo had a restaurant and wrote her own reviews for it. Her reviews under that name are still on places like Trip Advisor. When she was being unmasked as the troll she was, she PMd me with some rant about destroying her family's livelihood. (think it was because we were all talking about them writing fake reviews for their own place )

DolphinsAndNemesis · 06/03/2021 15:50

I sometimes wonder about a poster who openly and unapologetically favoured her daughters over her son. It was quite distressing to read. At one point I noticed that she had stopped even mentioning her son, while continuing to gush about how wonderful the girls were. It was as though she wanted to forget that she even had a son. Sad I haven't seen this poster on MN in ages, but I do occasionally think about that boy and hope he is O.K.

Mrsfrumble · 06/03/2021 15:58

Wasn’t it Beesimo who called nurseries “day orphanages”? That went down like a shit sandwich Grin She definitely had unique posting style and also lots of sock puppets.

LittlestBoho · 06/03/2021 17:53

Day orphanages Grin I forgot that. Whenever she wrote that catchphrase you couldn't even keep up with the thread; the furious posts came in way faster than anyone could read them, it was scrolling like The Matrix.

okokok000 · 06/03/2021 21:14

There was one a few years ago where a woman returned home and her boyfriend had just left her and her son. Literally packed up and left. Transpired he went back to an ex from a few years prior. Would like to know what happened to her.

DamnYouAutoCatRectal · 06/03/2021 22:06

I think most people remember the thread which made them find mumsnet. In 2008 there was a thread from a mum who was hugely regretting having her baby, I think she was in Australia. She did return to her own thread ( or possibly one of these what happened to threads) to say she'd got over her PND and had another child. I hope she's still doing well.

There are a lot I wonder about, but most are probably trolls. One woman who had lost a stillborn DD, also an older DD (possibly one of them or her username was Tamsin), she was desperate to have another DC and her DH/DP was awful. She posted a lot for quite a while and then vanished.
