i’ve used MN for years, and i often think about particular threads or posters that stuck out to me or i interacted with ages ago that i haven’t been able to find (or just seemed to stop posting without a trace) since then.

anyone else get strangely nostalgic/curious thinking back to threads/posters and wonder what became of them?

OP posts:

@StepOutOfLine what do you mean by outed? Was she doxxed?

CharityDingle · 04/03/2021 14:32

I love the CF threads. Nobody dares to try this stuff with me, I'm a bit disappointed!

A lot of them are pure invention, imo. Some might start with a grain of truth and then as the OP gets people interested, the embellishments start.

Thanks @WhereDoMyBluebirdsFly
I do wonder how that all ended!

Mrsfrumble · 04/03/2021 14:44

Artandco was the one who had me fooled. I always found her insufferably smug, but it all made sense when it came to light that she was a troll. It’s easy to be smug about made up bollocks.

Outed as a troll.

I'd say as a rule of thumb, any CF thread running to more than a couple of pages, ramping up the dramaz and CFery tends to be utter bollocks. Most of the ones mentioned with rose-tinted glasses.

And any where the (usually obnoxious and arsey) OP finds themselves in a situation where "I said X and THE WHOLE BUS CLAPPED!!!" happens.
No, you didn't. And neither did they. They looked away embarrassed on your behalf.

OhCaptain · 04/03/2021 15:06

@StepOutOfLine thanks!

I still want to know what happened about the brother-in-law and his wife stealing the OP's raffle prize of a new computer by lying and saying the OP hadn't won anything in the raffle, when she had in fact won the 1st prize (which she found out from someone else).

In the first thread someone scared the OP about the press picking up the story and she got MNHQ to delete it. Then a bit later she posted a new thread to update about what happened and almost immediately MNHQ deleted it saying something like "The OP was worried about privacy in her previous thread, so we assume the same applies to this one" and it was gone! So the OP hadn't had a change of heart and requested deletion, MNHQ just "assumed"! I was put out, peeved and extremely miffed by that! Angry

The OP wouldn't have posted to update if she wanted it deleted almost immediately would she? It was such an outrageous thing for the BIL and his wife to have done I was dying to know what they said to the OP and her husband when confronted.

(sigh) I might get over it eventually - I might not.
Smile

You could just have invented an ending to it. Wink
It sounded like pure baloney, from start to finish. And didn't improve by starting a second thread.

I think the OP was asked questions about how this raffle etc was supposedly taking place, during lockdown, but no answers were forthcoming. Hmm

CustardySergeant · 04/03/2021 16:06

CharityDingle Fair point I suppose. I can be a bit gullible-ish.

LoveFromDeauville · 04/03/2021 16:15

I remember want2besupermum - she lived in NY and worked in finance and had a very regimented approach to life and money. I often wondered if she worked in my building.

A few years ago but there was a poster who was always ranting about her husband. They emigrated to Australia, it didn’t work out and came back. Her children sounded feral and she was constantly furious.

The lovely poster in NZ who others mentioned - what a place to be stuck in, away from her friends and family. My heart broke for her.

MrsKoala - always a drama to be shared Grin

And the lovely poster whose DH got rid of her beloved childhood books Flowers

Botanicals · 04/03/2021 16:17

@LadyEloise

What happened LaQueen ? She was a prolific poster and then poof - gone - and her posts deleted.
She is here, I saw her the other day.

Yes, and they always give an eloquent, multi-paragraph speech that they report word-for-word on the thread.

In reality they fumed silently and composed an MN thread in their head based on what they wished they'd done.

SecretWitch · 04/03/2021 16:29

Hoping a very troubled poster named “ghost” is doing ok

I miss scottishmummy and MrsDevere

MrsMackesy · 04/03/2021 17:38

Does anyone remember a thread where the OP said SS had visited her home - I think as a result of a malicious report - and were becoming involved with her DC because they found one used nappy had been left on the stairs rather than being put straight in the bin? I clicked away but thought of the thread reading this one - was there a huge back story or was it a troll, because it had to be one or the other, surely?

GoodbyeToCare · 04/03/2021 17:41

I just remembered the poster whose husband wanted to move the family to Australia and she was dead against it. He applied for visas regardless which were granted and he insisted the go for a short visit to validate the visas.

She was strongly advised not to go as everyone suspected they wouldn't come back.

There was a lovely covid one of these at beginning of lockdown , where a poster claimed that someone coughed in the supermarket and she could remember word for word what she said to him, how he looked shifty when she questioned him and "she fixed him with her gaze" nonsense.

Navilana · 04/03/2021 18:04

There was a mother who sounded so horribly distraught about not getting her kids back from SS. She didn't know how to interact with her toddler-aged DD (suspected SN?) and asked for suggestions and the older DD's bedroom was just refurbished (with blinds IIRC).

Her rented house (I think?) was having several horrible issues, and she said SS wouldn't want her to have her kids back because she didn't manage to check off all the items of a house requirement list given by SS..

Many posters insisted there had to be more to the story than what OP claimed.

At some point she stopped updating.
Her posts were so distraught and I still wonder from time to time if she was able to get her daughters back with her and cope with life.

Ghost has posted on this thread. She's fine.

WhereverIlaymyhat2021 · 04/03/2021 18:12

Yes there was a truly awful one where the OP’s partner had dropped there month old DC out of the sling, they seemed ok apparently but had a big dint in their head and she was wondering whether to go to A&E 😨😨, think admin took it down. I’ve always hoped everything was ok.
