to ask if you ever wonder about certain posters/threads?

i’ve used MN for years, and i often think about particular threads or posters that stuck out to me or i interacted with ages ago that i haven’t been able to find (or just seemed to stop posting without a trace) since then.

anyone else get strangely nostalgic/curious thinking back to threads/posters and wonder what became of them?

One where the poster lived with husband, their children and his parents.
She wrote down some thoughts about being unhappy and he slapped her, then made her eat the paper she'd written on. I think it was all in front of the children and in-laws.
Hope she got out.

I messaged ESD and told her that she is very much missed here and passed on best wishes. The last I heard she was considering re-joining. Although I can understand her reticence, as she was horribly outed and trolled, which was deeply unpleasant.

Her last comment to me was 'WTF is Mumsnet Premium??' so she has been back to check out the site...

Does anyone know what happened with this post yeeeaaarrrsss ago: The OPs friend had a holiday fling and got pregnant by an American military guy, he suggested they get married so she could use his medical cover and encouraged her to go to the US on a tourist visa to give birth. The OP was worried her friend was sleepwalking into something terrible, and all the posters said the baby would be an American citizen but the friend would be deported. The friend refused to listen to reason though and planned to go to the US to play happy families with this random guy. Now I write it out it does seem quite farfetched...

OhCaptain somebody came onto a thread and posted personal information about her, some of which was true and most of which were outright lies. She was also incorrectly accused of being another poster, so apparently posting from 2 different accounts. Just horrible!

@Maryz helped me so much on the troubled teenage board . I hope she is ok .

I haven’t rtft but I often wonder about the poster whose sisters children had been taken away by social services and she and her mum were deciding whether to take the youngest one. Loads of posters (who clearly had no experience of looking after children who have experienced trauma) jumped on and said she should take all three even though she didn’t have the room. I wonder what happened to her and the children.

I think of coatsprotectionleague (not sure if that's right) who left her cheating DH by squirrelling stuff away over a number of weeks, buying things as part of the weekly shop so it would be harder for him to trace. I was just bowled over by her strength. I hope she is free and happy now.

I think this is the one I've been thinking of. She spent ages preparing, the dh/dp had no idea. Everyone had been supporting her and then suddenly before it got to the day she was going to leave she stopped posting. Am I remembering correctly?

I vaguely remember that. Looking back, probably another wannabe novelist trying their plot out on us.

I was one of the people completely taken in by DizzyMare. I even spoke to her on the phone. Totally fell for it, hook line and sinker.

In my defence, I was a complete newbie to forums like this, and grieving for both my baby and partner. Perfect prime picking for a troll to latch onto. All obviously in a previous incarnation.

Now I'm much more... cynical...less inclined to believe folks.

I too think about kittensarecute I was so worried about her. She was really suffering with the covid threads. I hope she’s ok.

I remember the wit of posters like TantrumsandBalloonscan’t remember if that was her full name, was it her who had a thread about lending her neighbours some spoons. She had such a funny way of writing.

Ah, that might explain the one I was thinking about where the OP was called by her nieces’ school to collect them because they were poorly and her sister was nowhere to be found. It escalated at breakneck speed with a dramatic confrontation with said sister on the OP’s driveway, then social services arriving and asking the OP to take in the nieces. All utter bollocks, but ran for pages and pages.

I do often think of this poster Something so dark in her sadness 😢😢😢
