Yes the guy lost his mother in a tragic way at a young age. (So have many) Yes he was forced out into the public eye in the middle of grief (which was horrific at the time and worse on reflection) BUT he is now an adult man with a family and access to life of extreme privilege yet he cannot seem to realise that him publically complaining about his lot in life and telling the rest of us how to behave is distasteful. Also, the petulant way he seems to communicate with the media is just undelining his immaturity and lack of awareness. By which I mean, the potshots in statements and rapping with James Corden and his pathetic man of the people schtick. If you want to be Hazzer give up your title and STFU!

The legal concept of privacy is easy to understand.

It seems some people just don't get it. Can’t fathom whether they are thick or biased Confused

They’re both thick and biased.

@Radio4Rocks

He's all me, me, me. Just like his mother.

Have no time for him and his whining. Just piss off and live quietly and stop courting the press you supposedly hate.

Exactly.

HOW DARE HE COMPLAIN PUBLICLY ABOUT HIS LOT IN THAT PRIVILEGED LIFE HE HAS when there are children in this country going unfed, unloved, unclothed, unsafe.

He needs to grow the fuck up.

@GetOffYourHighHorse

'Anyone who thinks the media over there isn't as bad has clearly never read US Magazine or InTouch. Both vast sellers still. And don't get me started on TMZ/Splash News/Bauer-Griffin, they're literally in their town now.'

Exactly. The nasty ole British media. Blaming them just gave H the handy excuse to ditch boring duty whilst still riding on the RF coat tails for fame and fortune in the US.

It would be refreshing if one of the sycophantic interviewers actually challenged them on their persecution complex. Like when Haz said to Corden 'the British media wah wah', corden could have said well tbf they're exactly the same globally and at least in Britain they have legalities they have to adhere to? But nope just simper simper let's ring Megz 🙄.

This.
@GreenlandTheMovie
Santa Barbara is 93 miles from LA or 1 hour 33 minutes drive according to googlemaps. There are many parts of the south east of England that would be referred to, particularly by foreigners, as being in London as referencing the nearest big city is more useful to non-locals and quite standard internationally.

That’s 1.5 hours at 2am in California right now. In regular daytime traffic it’s closer to 2 — 2.5 hours of travel. Barely matters though because it’s still several counties away. It’s like people calling Liverpool and Manchester the same cities or Brighton and London the same for another reference.

Anyone (British) deliberately doing this is being obtuse and trading on people’s lack of geographic knowledge to push an agenda. You went to Google Maps, saw how far it was and still came back here to fight for the lie.

Why you think there should be a special, internationally recognised rule on this only for California is a mystery. Added to that is that the mountainous terrain constrains building to the north west of LA to a narrow coastal strip.

I hope you didn’t pull a muscle with that far of a mental reach there.
And how long do you think it takes to drive from Brighton to London in rush hour? Or from Ingolstadt to Munchen? Or St Polten to Central Vienna.

It is you who seems to have a tenuous grasp of geography, both demographically and geomorphologically. 1 hour 30 minutes drive outwith rush hour is really not a long way and for everyone that can take longer in bad traffic. Its many people's daily commutes. It used to take me 1 1/2 hours to travel by public transport from a small town just outside Edinburgh to Edinburgh City Centre. Many, many people have longer commutes to work than that.

To people who do work, as in going into work every day, 1 - 2 hours is not far. Is this something you are unfamiliar with?

I hope you didn’t pull a muscle with that far of a mental reach there.

Its obvious that you have difficulty with multi-syllabic word use, but are you also racist against the British, with your sweeping, insulting generalisations? Certainly sounds like it.

Commute times don't matter a whit. The point is that Brighton and London are completely different cities. So are Santa Barbara and L.A. They are completely different cities.

If you tell people you live in Brighton, they're not going to say "Oh, you live in London then?" Same thing with Santa Barbara and L. A. Same with Liverpool and Manchester. Or Glasgow and Edinburgh. Completely different cities, all of them.

PinkyParrot · 27/02/2021 14:41

LA is vast - it took 3 hours to cross it before getting onto the Santa Barbara part of the route last time I did that.
Nightmare.

sitandwait · 27/02/2021 14:41

they're blind to how they stand out. They cant help but express howtheyview the world, in the manner that they haveexperiencedthe world,

Ok so @JingsMahBucket can't show any actual evidence that the posters on this other site are faking their identity, and @PicsInRed can just tell? Supporters of the couple think it's fine for them to come out with all sorts of random accusations. Ironic.

GreenlandTheMovie · 27/02/2021 14:42

Many people from Brighton or Guildford do describe themselves as living in London. Posters have already described this to you. They have also pointed out to you that Britain is a lot smaller than the US and therefore, since Manchester and Liverpool are the major cities in their regions, they are treated differently. Santa Barbara is in international terms, not an especially well known city. LA is.

sitandwait · 27/02/2021 14:45

Also, why are posters criticised for being apparently obsessed with analysing every detail of the couple's lives, but apparently it's also wrong and indeed some kind of deliberate smear campaign for people not to know how long it takes to drive from their house to LA in traffic? Make it make sense!

I live a very short drive from Guildford (could walk it at a push) and I do not live in London. As for Brighton, that’s miles away with London in the opposite direction. Grin
Roussette · 27/02/2021 14:46

I have never ever heard ANYONE saying they live in London when they actually live in Brighton or Guildford. That is bonkers!
Does Reading work for that too? If so, I must ask my niece whether she classes herself as London dwelling, and the people I know living in Brighton are very proud that's where they live! And it ain't London!

TheKeatingFive · 27/02/2021 14:48

Many people from Brighton or Guildford do describe themselves as living in London.

I’ve never heard this in my life. The reaching is quite something.

JingsMahBucket · 27/02/2021 14:52

@Roussette and @TheKeatingFive thank you. I swear some people on this thread are trying the hardest to be wrong. Next they'll be saying people from Folkstone or Hastings describe themselves as living in London. FOH.

ChristOnAPeloton · 27/02/2021 14:58

I can’t speak for Guildfordians, but nobody who lives in Brighton says that they live in London.

We have a pretty strong identity of our own just in case you hadn’t noticed.

Yes it's all getting a bit silly now Grin
Drivingmecrazy2021 · 27/02/2021 15:13

I have never ever known anyone who lives in Brighton say they are from London
Guildford maybe at a stretch lol
Brighton is ridiculous

Drivingmecrazy2021 · 27/02/2021 15:16

Being rich does not exclude you from hurt or having emotional feelings.
I coke from a very well off family ( quite well known if you are over the age of 40 maybe haha ) no where near as high profiled as the RF.
we may have been raised with money, I might be privileged in that way.
There is still some areas of my life that suck and I would swap all the money in the world to make go away.

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 27/02/2021 15:18

well done for JAmes Corden. that was quite good.

BilboBercow · 27/02/2021 15:24

I really don't know what people expected them to do. His own family were briefing the British press against his wife. His wife's personal painful family issues were constantly being hashed out in the press. He wanted to protect his wife and child which I personally think is the right thing to do.

People ALSO want them to support themselves now and not rely on funding from Charlie so clearly they're going to have to have some kind of public profile, just one they control.

It's very telling what people's priorities on here are that Harry and Meghan get more hate than Prince Andrew

SnottyLottie · 27/02/2021 15:25

A girl I went to university with was from Guildford and when I asked where that was she said it was near Woking. I think she would rather claim she lived in Woking than London (but I don’t speak for all Guildfordians here).

Sparklingbrook · 27/02/2021 15:34

Does it really matter exactly where they live in California? I don't think it's comparable to cities in England.
They live in Santa Barbara but were driving around LA on the open top bus. Remind me what we're getting worked up about here.

Samcro · 27/02/2021 16:23

Wow now I have heard everything.
I live in Brighton and used to live near guildford and no one from either place would ever say they live in london.
Brighton is no where near London.

Janegrey333 · 27/02/2021 16:30

@Roussette

He is so embarrassing. Can’t bear to see his face. Or hers

I doubt they'd think much of you either!

Jolly good.
Janegrey333 · 27/02/2021 16:34

The James Corden tomfoolery was so impressive. He really is a lightweight. The Queen is probably glad they’re out of the way over there instead of being in the way over here.
