Yes the guy lost his mother in a tragic way at a young age. (So have many) Yes he was forced out into the public eye in the middle of grief (which was horrific at the time and worse on reflection) BUT he is now an adult man with a family and access to life of extreme privilege yet he cannot seem to realise that him publically complaining about his lot in life and telling the rest of us how to behave is distasteful. Also, the petulant way he seems to communicate with the media is just undelining his immaturity and lack of awareness. By which I mean, the potshots in statements and rapping with James Corden and his pathetic man of the people schtick. If you want to be Hazzer give up your title and STFU!

Exactly this! The reason the rest of the Royals dont get such a rough ride from the press is because they just put up and shut up about the coverage they get good or bad. Its part of the job!

See, I will NEVER understand why people think putting up and shutting up about the hateful misogyny all major royal brides have faced from the gutter press is a good thing. It’s totally fucked up.

Roussette · 26/02/2021 20:16

Consent is different to control

PurpleRainDancer · 26/02/2021 20:17

Thought the whole interview with Corden was a back slappy cringe fest.

wewillmeetagain · 26/02/2021 20:17

@TheKeatingFive im not saying its right im saying thats just the way it is! You cannot play games with the British media and expect a good outcome.

wewillmeetagain · 26/02/2021 20:18

@Roussette well when you become "famous" for want of a better word consent is something you don't have when it comes to the media! Its a dance with the devil! Harry was born into it but Meghan had a choice!

Roussette · 26/02/2021 20:19

Well... well done Meghan on winning a case against the vile DailyMail. Good on them

TheKeatingFive · 26/02/2021 20:19

im not saying its right im saying thats just the way it is!

You appear to be saying they shouldnt challenge it. Correct?

TheKeatingFive · 26/02/2021 20:20

Meghan had a choice

So what? She shouldn’t have married him?

Poor Harry, he was running out of options. The heinous gutter press had a lot to do with that, I’m sure.

ancientgran · 26/02/2021 20:21

@PicsInRed

Prince Harry married a Black woman.

People racists who like to think they're not got angry.

The end.

That isn't the chain of events though is it. He married a mixed race woman, people were thrilled, big wedding, lots of good wishes, people started getting fed up of the moaning, particularly her moaning about her hard life when she was in Africa surrounded by people with real problems, people got fed up. H and MM got angry, most of us got bored and avoid them if possible.

willmeetagain not sure what you mean. Anyone who stands up against the vile press has respect from me. They are working on 'consent' and good on them. Maybe they will set something for the future as far as press intrusion.

If I was in their position, I'd do the same. Good on them. Respect from me.

minou123 · 26/02/2021 20:22

I can understand why Harry said some of the press is toxic in the UK and he wants, because it is.

The News Of The World and The Mirror have both been caught for phone hacking.

This is not "journalism " its outright illegal.

And before anyone says that its only celebrities and Harry, William and Charles and no harm done. The NOTW also hacked Millie Dowlers phone when she was murdered and deleted messages - which could have caused a problem finding her murderer.

This is the level of morality in some of the gutter press we have.

I don't blame Harry for trying to control what is said about him and what information he releases

Well not well done Meghan, because now they will keep going for the throat until they get something that sticks! If she had just done what all the others do and don't explain and don't complain then it would all be forgotten about by now! There is a reason that the other royal family members do it that way.
Roussette · 26/02/2021 20:25

The Millie Dowler case was horrific. I have a DD same age and it hit me big time.
Which is why I cannot stand those instrumental in that.

They manipulated her phone to look like she was picking up her messages. Vile.

StoneofDestiny · 26/02/2021 20:27

I think the spotlight needs to stay in Andrew and his odious behaviour and the fact the Royal Family are protecting him.

wewillmeetagain · 26/02/2021 20:27

@TheKeatingFive

im not saying its right im saying thats just the way it is!

That's exactly what im saying. Because as has been proven they can't win! Like i said previously harry is quite happy when the palace PR was covering up his misdemeanours and making deals with the press to this effect. Now hes suddenly playing the victim and can't understand why they are not playing ball anymore! Its a two way street im afraid, and he thinks he can control it!
Roussette · 26/02/2021 20:27

because now they will keep going for the throat until they get something that sticks!

So people should just give up.

I don't think so...

Just lie back and accept lies and manipulation. Nope. I admire her for taking them on. Even if it changes nothing, in years to come it might be of note.

Roussette · 26/02/2021 20:28

I wish!

I'm derided every time I mention him!

Tierrasfuente · 26/02/2021 20:29

I don't hate H&M, I just find them irritating. I actually always liked Harry and found him down to earth. I was happy for him when he found Meghan, had a tear when they said their wedding vows etc. What they are doing at the moment, is very reminscent of what Princess Diana did. He now wants to be the people's prince, escaped from the evil palace. It is becoming increasingly hard to avoid hearing all about it.

wewillmeetagain · 26/02/2021 20:30

@Roussette she didn't sue because of all the apparent lies though did she! She sued for breach of privacy because of the letter! Even though she was the one who through her friends made the letter public knowledge in the first place! If all the stories about her staff leaving and how difficult she is are complete lies why hasn't she sued about those as well?

Roussette · 26/02/2021 20:32

Yes. No.

She won the case.

wewillmeetagain · 26/02/2021 20:37

@Roussette she hasn't yet won the whole case just that she was right to have a reasonable expectation that the contents of the letter should remain private.

Roussette · 26/02/2021 20:45

Exactly

Next bit is damages

minou123 · 26/02/2021 20:45

Thats not true.
Royal family have always sued the press for copyright breaches and privacy intrusion.
Meghan was not the first to do it.

Just a small snippet:

  • Charles sued Mail on Sunday for publishing his diary and breaching copyright. Charles won

-Queen took out an injunction to stop Daily Mirror from publishing photos and details from an "undercover journalist " who work at Buck. Palace and invasion of privacy. Queen won

-Queen sued The Sun for publishing her Xmas speech 2 days early and for copyright breach. Queen won

  • William and Kate sued Closer Magazine France for publishing topless photos and invasion of privacy. W&K won
  • Viscount Linley (Princess Margarets son) sued the Today Newspaper for printing lies about him. Viscount Linley won.

Not much "don't explain and don't complain" there!
