Yes the guy lost his mother in a tragic way at a young age. (So have many) Yes he was forced out into the public eye in the middle of grief (which was horrific at the time and worse on reflection) BUT he is now an adult man with a family and access to life of extreme privilege yet he cannot seem to realise that him publically complaining about his lot in life and telling the rest of us how to behave is distasteful. Also, the petulant way he seems to communicate with the media is just undelining his immaturity and lack of awareness. By which I mean, the potshots in statements and rapping with James Corden and his pathetic man of the people schtick. If you want to be Hazzer give up your title and STFU!

AIBU?

I actually really enjoyed his James Corden interview/bit. It was very entertaining and he seems very down to Earth, actually.

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 26/02/2021 19:47

Watched it, had a giggle, quite enjoyed it and now I'll forget all about it soon enough because it's totally irrelevant to my life.

I honestly don't get where people get the energy, will and time to pour into so much hatred and vitriol for PH and MM.

But I hate them.
But hypocrisy.
He's stupid. She's evil.
But this but that.

Give me a break they are completely irrelevant and of no consequence to your life unless you're their neighbours or family or friends.

And as long as you bitch and moan about them you keep them relevant and news worthy. Wouldn't have actually bothered to watch the interview without this thread. Now I did and I liked it so I might watch more of his stuff. Well done OP.Grin

'bet she’s DEVASTATED.I mean a waffle maker. Think of the diplomatic consequences'

You're missing the point. Again. It isn't about 'diplomatic consequences' 🙄. He doesn't want private info sharing without his consent so he should follow his own rules and afford others the same courtesy. However he won't because he is a hypocrite.

Roussette · 26/02/2021 19:49

I think what Andrew does and has done rather pales a waffle maker into significance... 🤣

Since when was the purchase of a kitchen appliance given as a gift for Christmas 'private info'. It's hardly earth shattering is it? It's a waffle maker...

HRH could always get her own back and share what H&M bought her for Christmas. Bayliss and Harding gift set maybe? Shock Grin

I reckon Harry could totally cope with waffle maker related revelations personally 😆

GetOffYourHighHorse · 26/02/2021 19:55

'I think what Andrew does and has done rather pales a waffle maker into significance'

Omg. But Prince Andrew 🙄🙄

Yes we know!

However much as you will not admit it Haz should not be publicly sharing info about his family.

'The thing is, he knows that the US media want these little tidbits about the RF'

Exactly. It's all they want. That and his tragic childhood.

PinkyParrot · 26/02/2021 19:55

I really do think that people who constantly moan about Harry and Meghan are jealous of :
1) their money
2) the fact that Meghan managed to marry Harry - they think she’s not worthy. Probably racism.
Absolutely!
But what is wrong with people that they get something from doing this - I think there is some sort of problem with low self esteem in the U.K. - I can't believe other countries are this vicious. In fact they're not, you get a bit but not as bad as here. Must be due to our lingering class system- gives people big chips on their shoulders.

studychick81 · 26/02/2021 19:55

I don't mind them but it does irritate me the double standards and hypocrisy. They want it both ways. They want to step down and be out the pupil eye because of too much scrutiny and lack of privacy but then they want to keep the lifestyle and court the press doing all these interviews. They want the press when it suits them. I think they get criticism because people don't understand this. You can't have it both ways, stepping down fine, so don't then court the press.

It also irritates me how he goes on about the environment and we must all do our bit, we re only having two children etc but the jets around on holidays etc in private jets. They don't seem to get this.

Roussette · 26/02/2021 19:57

Nah

Will keep mentioning it.

Different rules etc.

Sparklingbrook · 26/02/2021 20:00

Are we still talking about the waffle maker?

Tbf we're in lockdown, there's not much doing and his grinning face has been on the news all day. If he stops making a tit of himself I'll stop scrutinising his egotistical behaviour. My self esteem is fine thanks.

TheKeatingFive · 26/02/2021 20:04

Be careful. You know what this lot are like. Next thing you know, it’ll be repeated as gospel as an example of Meghan ‘disrespecting’ her Maj with Mumsnets least favourite toiletry brand. Grin

BlushingBrightly · 26/02/2021 20:04

@ElspethFlashman

I hate this gatekeeping stuff.

You can only post about them if you're a fan, basically.

Yes, no one can be allowed just to not like them. You're a Bad Person if you don't and shouldn't be allowed to post on a freely available chat site.
studychick81 · 26/02/2021 20:04

@BobbitWormNightmares

He's stepping back from being a royal - he didn't say he was stepping back from the media - his wife is/was an actress. They just want their independence - which for them means making millions through entertainment/documentaries etc etc but on their own terms.

I think out of all the royals, they must be the most relatable, for not wanting to live like that. I couldn't care less about the royals but I sort of like harry and Meghan

But the reason they are stepping back is because of the criticism and scrutiny they have had. That kind of makes you think they wouldn't go seeking media attention for more of the same but they are. They only want positive press, they only want press attention if it suits them, they then moan about the negatives that might come with that.
Roussette · 26/02/2021 20:06

hahahahah.... have you seen the stuff on here?!

Actually me just making it up and posting it on here makes it absolute FACT. That's exactly what they bought her. They are awful people after all... Grin
TheKeatingFive · 26/02/2021 20:07

Oh my god I need a Klaxon.

1). They never said they wanted privacy

2). The meeja is not one homogenous entity. Wanting to get away from the lying, law breaking UK gutter press does not mean they can’t have respectful relationships with more reputable outfits.

Roussette · 26/02/2021 20:08

Bottom line is...

Posters on here cannot stick up for them. We have to allow a cesspit of hate pointing out all that is wrong with them.

All of that. Plus irritation that they didn't stay here to put up with the bitchy vitriol. H&M got up went off into the sunshine so it grinds their gears.

Insistent online bullying of a young pregnant woman who recently had a miscarriage, too. She's not the 'right type' of woman so they wish her ill. Nasty. & The Daily Heil'ers are over here too.

MN is mad in that way but it's not like that everywhere, thankfully.

Exactly this! The reason the rest of the Royals dont get such a rough ride from the press is because they just put up and shut up about the coverage they get good or bad. Its part of the job! These two want to control the narrative constantly, they only want press that makes them sound good and doesn't call out their hypocrisy etc! Im pretty sure every single person in the public eye would like to enjoy this privilege as well but it just doesn't work like that!
picknmix1984 · 26/02/2021 20:10

I'm like a moth to a flame. I can't stand any of them but I just keep watching. Weird really!

Roussette · 26/02/2021 20:14

W&K do this too by the way. Just so you know.

Helicopter rides for a date night etc etc

GetOffYourHighHorse · 26/02/2021 20:15

'They never said they wanted privacy'

Exactly. They understandably want just control over what is shared. Lovely. So they really shouldn't be colluding with the 'authors' of trashy books and going on chat shows to gossip about his family. Where is the RF's consent in all this! And please don't say 'yeah but no but Prince Andrew'.

As I keep saying they need to follow their own rulez.

wewillmeetagain · 26/02/2021 20:15

It's exactly the same relationship Diana had with the press. She thought she could use them when it suited her to and that they should just mind their own business at other times. It just doesn't work that way.
