Question for couples. Double or King size?

I moved in with my partner 6 months ago and everything is great except he has a double bed and I'm a restless sleeper and he gives off a ton of heat.
I've said we should get a king size as that's what most people have.
He seems to think it's not the bed and that I'm the one with a problem and that most people have double beds and get on alright with them.
I'd have a super king if it was me but the room wouldn't take it.
So AIBU for not wanting to spend every night squashed up in a double bed?
If you're a couple what do you have?

Superking and I’m a single parent in a TINY house but I absolutely adore my bed.

We've got a King, with SK Bedding. Since moving we could fit a SK bed, I'm thinking that with separate double duvet each.

When I decamp to the spare room the double is barely big enough for me and DD (4), she's a space stealing heat monster though.

Yes, King. We have a king with two single duvets so we can make our sides of the bed perfect for us. And have millions of pillows and roll around

We have a double and I absolutely hate it. DH tends to roll over onto my side and I usually end up with about a third of the bed to sleep on. No amount of shoving him back onto his own side seems to work anymore.

Super king here. Bloody love it. Have the biggest bed you can fit in!

Super king here - DH is 6ft5 and we'd get a bigger bed if we could fit it in. A double bed is a nightmare for us.

The biggest size you can afford and have space for. King size of the options you shared, but wish I had done for a super king myself.

King. It's just me most of the time. I've slept ok in doubles in the past, but not if they're snorers. The extra bit of space really helps. Current boyfriend non snorer, thankfully

Definitely a King size. Double is only fine if you are both really skinny and under 5'5".

What? I'm 5'8 and 14st, my partner is 6ft and 17st. We manage just fine on a double. Neither of us are short or skinny. Hell, our damn cat manages to sleep on the bed with us too and that big git sprawls out. Still got enough room.

I am the worst, most restless sleeper! My partner is the most annoying, snooring, grunting, talking (occasionally asleep singing) sleeper.

We had a double. I couldn’t take it and emigrated to the spare room for two years. He convinced to me to get a super king as he wants to share. It arrived two days ago. So far it’s better (except for his very strange eerie midnight song last night).

I think I might still occasionally vacation in the spare room if I’m having a bad night but it is definitely an improvement, more room really helps. Doubles are torture!

I couldn't sleep in a double, way too small - and we're not big (my husband is tall though).

Separate rooms ...cannot bare sharing my space with anyone!! The dog is allowed 😃

A double bed at 135 cm is as wide as two cribs. It’s not enough room for two modern adults.
