And has no place in a salad?

AIBU?

OP posts:
Walkingthedog46 · 23/02/2021 18:04

Corriander tastes like soap to me!

Keepcountingyourfingers · 23/02/2021 18:05

To be fair it has no place anywhere.

BlindMedusa · 23/02/2021 18:08

I haven't made up my mind yet OP you've redeemed yourself by saying you like it in a curry but I need to know how to vote on the basis of if you double or triple carb with your curry 😂

In salads? This is why Sue's Salads got run out of town

CandyLeBonBon · 23/02/2021 18:10

That Sue and her suspect salads eh? @BlindMedusa Grin

Delatron · 23/02/2021 18:12

I think as it’s a genetic thing (rather than just personal taste) and something some 25% of the population suffer from then I don’t think it should be included in so many dishes and salads. For those that taste soap it just ruins the whole dish.

We’re talking about a significant proportion of the population.

BlindMedusa · 23/02/2021 18:15

@CandyLeBonBon indeed 😂 imagine being given the food your food eats ... along with Coriander and no carbs

😱

simbobs · 23/02/2021 18:20

I love it, and had no idea that there was a genetic component to the perception of the taste. My sister says it tastes like soap. Learn something new every day.

DamsonDress · 23/02/2021 18:23

I honestly think I would feel more convivial if you put shit in my salad rather than coriander.

Although I'd hope it's not an either or situation.

Coriander is the worst.

NotJosieGrosieAnymore · 23/02/2021 18:32

Coriander is my absolute favourite. I’d have it on everything if I could. Tastes floral and delicious to me and not soapy in the slightest.

Me too!
peak2021 · 23/02/2021 18:41

Before about 2002 we managed without coriander, I am sure we can manage now.

😂😂😂😂

rosiejaune · 23/02/2021 18:43

@BestestBrownies

It’s genetic as to whether you like coriander/cilantro or get an overwhelming (and revolting), soapy/perfume taste from it.

I fall into the latter camp and HATE the vile stuff

I know that is supposed to be the case, but I think it tastes like soap and I still like it.
OldScrappyAndHungry · 23/02/2021 18:44

Like PPs have said, it’s genetic - I definitely fall into the “tastes like soap” category! Horrible stuff!

GrumpyHoonMain · 23/02/2021 18:44

I love it

IAmJackieWeaver · 23/02/2021 18:45

YABU. It's amazing, especially in salad.

DriftGames · 23/02/2021 18:46

It's proper fuckin grim. Absolutely boils my piss when I order food and it comes with a soapy surprise on it.

tillytoodles1 · 23/02/2021 18:46

I love coriander, but I absolutely hate rosemary, its in everything. Don't even mention smoked paprika or cinnamon.

Peccary · 23/02/2021 18:47

Yep, called soap weed in our house

Icancelledthecheque · 23/02/2021 18:48

Coriander on Indian or Mexican food often makes the dish. It’s delicious.

Coriander in a salad makes me want to cut my tongue out with a rusty knife. Just no.

MiddlesexGirl · 23/02/2021 18:49

VU.

Coriander is delicious. I often use it instead of rocket/lettuce/watercress in a salad or sandwich and have even been known to eat it on its own. And it smells so wonderful too.

TH22 · 23/02/2021 18:49

Completely agree 🤮

CandyLeBonBon · 23/02/2021 18:50

So bizarre. I ever realised how polarising a simple herb could be! Grin

Chimeraforce · 23/02/2021 18:50

I love Coriander. In salad and curry's.
