@Loopyloututu2

And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon Englands mountains green: And was the holy Lamb of God, On Englands pleasant pastures seen!

And did the Countenance Divine,
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here,
Among these dark Satanic Mills?

Bring me my Bow of burning gold:
Bring me my arrows of desire:
Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold!
Bring me my Chariot of fire!

I will not cease from Mental Fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand:
Till we have built Jerusalem,
In Englands green & pleasant Land.

You know this was written as a sarcastic response to the Church?
AndPatraWillNeverSayNever · 23/02/2021 13:14

Alright, I'm wrong then.Grin

But yes I love springtime in England! It's just not the loveliest. How dare you?!

wellthatsunusual · 23/02/2021 13:16

I don't think I've ever been in England during the spring so I can't really give a proper opinion on that. But Ireland is rather lovely in the spring, so I'd imagine England is nice too.

VintageStitchers · 23/02/2021 13:19

Op, you’re wrong.

I’d give the Lake District 5/10 for effort compared to Scottish scenery from the Highlands onwards. I made a mistake of wasting 2 days of a 14 day holiday touring Scotland, staying in the Lake District.
Very disappointing.

I’m English, BTW.

That still doesn’t convince me😜
@AryaStarkWolf geographically, the British Isles is an archipelago with over 6000 separate islands, two of which are the island of Ireland and the largest one, the island of Great Britain. You can call it the Atlantic Archipelago instead if you like. The nicest set of views I've ever seen is still the Lakes and the Ring of Kerry.
At last, someone who understands what the British Isles means!

zukiecat · 23/02/2021 13:33

There is somewhere lovelier,

Scotland! In any weather, most beautiful place on earth.

TwunchOfBats · 23/02/2021 13:36

My heaven is a wide open english rolling field on a clear and bright and not-too-warm spring day. Dog by my side.

Ah! The possibilities that scene promises. Both of a lovely walk but also of the new life of spring and the summer to come.

thecatsthecats · 23/02/2021 13:40

@BobbinThreadbare123

I live in the Lakes. There is no better view than when you come over a hill and see the mountains in the distance. I've been to some lovely countries but the British Isles (E, S, W, NI and ROI) cannot be beaten for scenic greenness. There's something very soothing about it.
I'm part Lakes, part Kiwi, and the Lakes side of me graciously bows out to NZ I'm afraid.

The North Island has plenty of our "gentle green" type landscapes, but then the mountains are more spectacular too, plus jungle, hot springs, glaciers... I just adored it.

I woke to a view of lovely gentle green fields, and then walked down the road in Kaikoura to go whale watching with snow capped mountains in the distance, followed by lunch at a vineyard.

And they get the aurora borealis, clean skies - NZ is heaven.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 23/02/2021 13:40

I think we're just so lucky to have a bit of everything. I know we get some awful rain and it can be gloomy, but there's plains, hills, forests, mountains and coast within easy reach. I've been to Norway (exotic, I know) and I enjoyed the mountains but they just weren't Cumbrian or Scottish enough. Too 'samey' I think.

Sparklesocks · 23/02/2021 13:42

It’s nice. But there are many nice places.

sashagabadon · 23/02/2021 13:46

Oh I completely agree! I’ve noticed too that my local council has been seeding grass verges etc with what I assume are wild meadow flower seeds. I am ridiculously excited about it. I’m hoping May time they’ll start to flower, maybe June?
I also look forward to the cherry blossom as there’s loads of cherry blossom trees where I live. I am not a Spanish bluebell fan though

FredSoftly · 23/02/2021 13:48

As a foreigner here I disagree spring for us is a warm 21c at least

Shock That's not Spring weather - that's hot and clammy!

sashagabadon · 23/02/2021 13:49

Big love to Ireland too. Seriously hope we get a nice spring this year. If we get rain and all the tree blossom goes soggy after a day I will be seriously pissed off

BobbinThreadbare123 · 23/02/2021 13:50

21°C is boiling Grin

FredSoftly · 23/02/2021 13:51

@AryaStarkWolf

Ireland is more beautiful, sorry to disappoint you
You've not disappointed me, you're just wrong.

actiongirl1978 · 23/02/2021 13:53

In general I agree.

But...

The top of Killiney Hill in Dublin is a very close second.

FredSoftly · 23/02/2021 13:55

They look lovely and sunny but there's always a slight chill in the breeze and I find I still need quite a big coat in spring

That is the beauty of an English Spring - you don't have to take any garments off to enjoy it. Summer is a minefield!

I give you... North Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I grew up in England and moved to Wales when I was 18. 15 years later and it still takes my breath away on a daily basis Star

Oh bugger - I even managed to stop myself saying Northern Lights.

Pretty wavy green night skies Grin

FredSoftly · 23/02/2021 14:22

@WonkyCactus

Did you mean England OP? Or did you mean the UK? Genuine question.
Definitely England, Wonky - nowhere is lovelier than England in Spring. Nowhere.
