Scotland and Ireland are much prettier than England.

Onedropbeat · 23/02/2021 12:18

I’m loving this hint of spring today

There’s nothing better than a spring day in England

But after summer I will be saying there’s nothing better than a golden autumn day with the leaves multicoloured in England

And after that il be saying there’s nothing better than a crisp fresh frosty winters morning

ThePlantsitter · 23/02/2021 12:19

Lockdown Lewisham in spring is better than lockdown Lewisham in winter but there are plenty of places lovelier in England and elsewhere.

Twoobles · 23/02/2021 12:19

Northern Ireland/Ireland.

North Coast and the Wicklow Gap being my favourites. Beautiful.

pangolina · 23/02/2021 12:21

Nah, a Central American beach or jungle on the cusp of the rainy season is hard to beat.

littlepattilou · 23/02/2021 12:22

@FredSoftly

I half agree.

It is lovely to see a shiny, sunny, Spring day, especially after the dark, grim winter, and it's nice to see the daylight hours getting longer.

But it's not just England that looks lovely; most other places do too. Smile

KarensChoppyBob · 23/02/2021 12:23

Have you traveled much OP?

WonkyCactus · 23/02/2021 12:26

Did you mean England OP? Or did you mean the UK? Genuine question.

oldwhyno · 23/02/2021 12:27

@AryaStarkWolf

you can start by changing the wikipedia page:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Isles

BobbinThreadbare123 · 23/02/2021 12:31

@AryaStarkWolf geographically, the British Isles is an archipelago with over 6000 separate islands, two of which are the island of Ireland and the largest one, the island of Great Britain. You can call it the Atlantic Archipelago instead if you like. The nicest set of views I've ever seen is still the Lakes and the Ring of Kerry.

Cocolapew · 23/02/2021 12:34

Northern Ireland is.

Rathmobhaile · 23/02/2021 12:34

Sorry - but maybe its all the associations with home that make it beautiful to you? For me, Ireland is more beautiful, after all they don't call it the Emerald Isle for no reason.

AndAllOurYesterdays · 23/02/2021 12:36

Whilst I agree it is lovely to see the sun out and hear the birds singing after a long lockdown winter, I wouldn't say there is nowhere lovelier. Also loveliness often depends on context, I would be enjoying this early Spring day so much more without work to do and a.five year old to home school!

It's just a pet peeve that really bothers me considering all the history etc I like to go with our own governments views on it as well :

The Irish Government states that: " The British Isles is not an officially recognised term in any legal or inter-governmental sense. It is without any official status. The Government, including the Department of Foreign Affairs, does not use this term."

Yeah the Ring of Kerry is beautiful, all along the West and the Atlantic way have spectacular and ruggedly beautiful views

idontlikealdi · 23/02/2021 12:44

A spring day in the mountains is lovelier, Or golden hour in Ibiza / in a nice beach bar somewhere.

I'll take the sun being out here for now though.

viques · 23/02/2021 12:47

There was an amazing sunrise this morning, really streaky red/ pink sky, and I thought oh dear, red sky in the morning etc. But it has turned into a glorious sunny spring day, though with a nip in the wind. Took a cup of tea and a hot cross bun out earlier hoping to sit down on a bench in the garden and enjoy them, but it was a bit too chilly even with layers.

Apparently the pink sky was caused by Saharan dust.

rhowton · 23/02/2021 12:49

I love the UK in general, especially when it's a clear, sunny day!! I love spring, and hearing the birds and seeing the magnolias and daffodils. My favourite is a cold, clear sunny day in winter though. Nothing beats that IMO.

katewitch · 23/02/2021 12:51

I completely agree with you OP! It's days like this that make me feel so so happy to live here Smile

Clawdy · 23/02/2021 12:52

"Oh to be in England, Now that April's there..." Those lines are in my head every Spring.

Ori21 · 23/02/2021 12:53

We’re very lucky that we have such beautiful/diverse scenery here in the YK. I love it. Springtime in the Lake District is just like walking through God’s Garden.

Ori21 · 23/02/2021 12:54

Sorry - UK!!!

MeepleMe · 23/02/2021 12:58

I love it too OP - the green rolling hills, crocuses and daffodils poking out, sunshine but not so hot you have to bother with suncream, that sense of the earth warming up. I am from and live in South East England so naturally I love my homeland the most. I know other places are equally lovely and clearly inspire the same feelings in other people who live there. It's not a competition!

Aberteifi · 23/02/2021 12:58

I moved to Wales last year and sorry op but it is beautiful here
l live on the border of Pembrokshire and Ceredigion

NoProblem123 · 23/02/2021 13:03

So many lovely places - won’t it be nice when we can get back out there and enjoy them all Grin

BashfulClam · 23/02/2021 13:08

Scotland is nicer although we had a spring day where I am yesterday today it’s windy and rainy :( but Scotland in the sun is unbelievably beautiful.
