Aibu to think that serving potatoes at all with salmon en croute is just unnecessary carbohydrates

Further to the thread on boiled potatoes, from what I could glean not one person pointed out that you are serving carbohydrates with what should be already an ample portion of carbohydrates in the pastry. We have salmon en croute with extra green veg to fill everyone up. Is it just me or do people not get what a healthy portion (especially carbohydrates) actually is? Don't get me started on garlic bread being served with pasta.......🤬

Sorry my last comment did not address carbs! Can one ever have too many potatoes??? 🤔🤔🤔 I think not.

123HereComesTheSun · 23/02/2021 20:15

Omg @LemonSwan lucky you!

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 23/02/2021 20:16

Scotch pie in a well fired roll is not to be sniffed at.

It has been known to give it a Mediterranean twist by putting it in a pitta bread.

Salad cream, Mayo, Tom or brown sauce optional.

Food of the gods on the hoof.

I take the carby shame.

I have an eating disorder, I have such a massive fear of getting fat again (I was MASSIVE) that I rarely eat and almost never eat cards. But even I cant serve pasta without garlic bread!

Spaghetti carbonara with crunchy garlic bread is delicious, I would put the spag on the bread and eat it.

PyongyangKipperbang · 23/02/2021 20:21

:o

I can confirm that I NEVER eat cards, and almost never eat carbs!

Scrunchies · 23/02/2021 20:25

@doadeer you are quite right- there is actually a lot of research that says that high carb low protein diets are actually the healthiest long term (I’m talking those who live into their 90s+). It was based off rural villages in Italy and Japan who basically existed off pasta/ rice and have the oldest life expectancies in the world.

Not saying that’s what we should all aim for, but the right amount and type of carbs are fine. Sugary carbs in excess are very bad tho.

simonisnotme · 23/02/2021 20:25

god forbid
2 lots of carbs at one sitting, is that your biggest frikin problem Biscuit

thenettyprofessor · 23/02/2021 20:48

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 23/02/2021 20:49

He looked like a man at his wedding vows.

He’s dropped 15 years.

I do like how they really seem to like eachother though.

Blockedoff · 23/02/2021 20:52

@SheldonesqueIsUnwell wrong thread, or have I missed something?

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 23/02/2021 20:56

Absolutely the wrong thread my dear.

My carb addled texting thumb messed up.

That’ll learn me for my pie roll 🥧 Grin

Blockedoff · 23/02/2021 20:58

@SheldonesqueIsUnwell I thought I'd had a carb overload and was delirious!

😂

BettyDaviesWeLoveU · 23/02/2021 20:59

My mum used to do roasted new potatoes with salmon en croute - one of my worst dinners. Still hate it now. Fish, cream and pastry 🤮

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 23/02/2021 21:00

I clearly don’t need carbs to speak shite but it helps! Grin

JaneJeffer · 23/02/2021 21:05

@SheldonesqueIsUnwell I thought I had muddled my carbs and my mafs Grin

@NeverDropYourMoonCup that's not dinner, that's a side dish!

CasperGutman · 23/02/2021 21:08

Don't be silly, OP. Starchy foods are supposed to make up about a third of a healthy diet (according to the NHS). If the pastry on your salmon en croute amounts to a third of your meal then (a) you're eating far too much fat and (b) you need to roll your pastry thinner!

Seriously though, just because you don't like it yourself doesn't entitle you to feign shock that anyone else would eat it! Salmon en croute with boiled potatoes is basically pie and mash, which is about the most normal meal anyone could eat in the UK.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 23/02/2021 21:13

Apologies jane

Muffed up my multitasking. 😳

MajesticWhine · 23/02/2021 21:18

Craving a chip butty now.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 23/02/2021 21:39

Good grief. I don't even eat carbs, and even I get bored of these sanctimonious threads policing what other people eat.

DontFuckingCallMeCis · 23/02/2021 21:47

Yum love a salmon en croute! Grin

LAgeDeRaisin · 23/02/2021 22:09

I once ate a carb back in 1993 before I educated myself and found out the TRUTH and now I eat nothing but gravel, white fish, and the tears and despair of the obese.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 23/02/2021 22:18

Then standby dear *LAgeDeRaisin’

I will weep you up a banquet Wink

I have a pouch of whiskas and some chuckies if you insist on fish and gravel. Grin

QueenZoopla · 23/02/2021 22:24

OldRailer · 23/02/2021 22:25
