Offered vaccine healthy 30s

I just received a message from gps offering the vaccine. I'm 32 healthy woman with 2 young children.
I don't know if this is a mistake, but when you call the doctors they have a voicemail saying that they basically won't have any discussions about the vaccine and to just do what they message says when you receive it!
I don't know whether to call them to ask if they've made a mistake or go ahead an book it!

@Matilda15

I’ve been called up and not sure why but I am having it done on Friday. I’m 33 no underlying conditions although am currently overweight (had a baby 10 weeks ago) but not obese. I actually ignored the initial text assuming it was spam but my Drs reception team called and asked me to book or opt out. I did explain I thought it was spam and didn’t think I’d be eligible and she said well you are so please book or opt out so I’ve booked!
I hope my GP don't do that to me. I'm probably quite vulnerable, but I just don't think that I'd handle severe side effects right now.

If anyone wants to donate their vaccine to me, ease feel free. Cv with heart issues and I've been told maybe April 🙄

I want the vaccine. I just don't think that I would handle severe side effects right now without requiring hospitalisation. I'm aware that frail elderly people have taken it, so maybe I should try to steam ahead and have it. I'm just sort of verging on the frail little elderly myself at the moment lol (early 40's!). I'm quite surprised I was called so soon, but the text stated it was because I've had a hospital admission in the past year (several actually).

I think it really varies where you live - my DF 89 had his 5 weeks ago - he was sent a letter, couldn't get through on phone to book - rang me and his neighbour took a screenshot of the letter and I tried to book him online only to be offered centres in Watford and London for him - he lives in Surrey - I kept trying the website and after a few goes I booked him an Appt for the next day at a centre less than 5 miles from him - it also automatically generated the next appointment for me to accept too .

My MIL90 is very vulnerable - her surgery booked her 1st Appt but still have t booked her 2nd dose

I'm 51 and was rung on Wed last week by my GP surgery to book my Appt for Thurs pm with a 2nd dose in exactly 11 weeks time

There have been lots of errors. Please don't take a slot now when you know you are not next on the list. Imagine how you would feel I'd say you hear a friends mum dies of it waiting for her slot. If all the errors did this it would push those in need into later slots.

If you decline it, or just ignore the invitation, will you be recorded as having been offered the vaccine and not taken it up? If so, I would worry that you might not be offered it again at the "right" time.

As others have said, the faff (for the health service, not for you) of having to rearrange mis-offered appointments is probably as big if not a bigger problem than an appointment offered to someone earlier than ideal. They're trying to vaccinate the entire adult population, so need to crack on.

Ultimately, giving a jab takes two minutes of a medical practitioner's time. Rearranging your appointment won't take much less!

Do you think you'd handle COVID well right now? Honestly, the side effects of the vaccine are generally minimal.

This is what I'm talking about. I'm so sorry you haven't been called in yet but other have. There are clearly massive mistakes in the system and the healthy get vaccinated before the ones who need it more. And as PP mentioned there's not an unlimited supply of stocks.

That's nonsense - no one is taking a slot that someone else could have had, that's not how the booking systems are working. They are using new algorithms to assess risk, based on the profile of the people who have already died. This includes all kinds of apparently random factors, like where you live, having an impact.

I've just moved house - my car insurance has gone up - same car, same driver, still parked on a private drive, but in a different postcode where there are obviously more claims.

Risk assessment for COVID is getting both more sophisticated as we have more data, but also more "catch all" as it will inevitably pull in particular individuals who might not be more at risk than their cousin in the next town of the same age. The nhs does NOT have the time to push people back down a list, centres need to operate at full capacity for as long as possible, people should just crack on and get the vaccine if called.

You really need to read the room on this ...

Mistake or not: GET THE BLOODY JAB

The more of all of us that do, the better for all of us it is.

After posting in this thread yesterday my DB got a text bumping his appointment from next Tuesday to Saturday (in London). They are flying through their lists in some places and there is clearly a local element making it hard to compare areas.

But at the end of the day one more vaccinated person is one less likely to catch and spread this disease - and if they do get it they are much less likely to have it bad. There really is nothing to think about if you're able to have the jab.
