Offered vaccine healthy 30s

confused774 · 22/02/2021 08:54

I just received a message from gps offering the vaccine. I'm 32 healthy woman with 2 young children.
I don't know if this is a mistake, but when you call the doctors they have a voicemail saying that they basically won't have any discussions about the vaccine and to just do what they message says when you receive it!
I don't know whether to call them to ask if they've made a mistake or go ahead an book it!

Defo go. I am early 40s CEV. Had mine. No one said hmmm you look young (ha maybe I don't!), do you have proof of your condition etc.

It takes about 3 minutes to have the vaccine, and probably 6 minutes for your GP surgery to cancel it and rebook someone else.

NeedToGetOuttaHere · 22/02/2021 18:52

I’m an unpaid carer (group 6) , my DH is group 9 and my 22 year old DC is not in a group and we’ve all been vaccinated. I think it all depends on where you live.

typicalvalues · 22/02/2021 19:24

You shouldn't go when you are unwell and vomiting no matter how close it is.

Is that the advice? The text just says that 'You will not be able to receive the vaccine if you have tested positive or are currently showing symptoms'. I have no Covid symptoms.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 22/02/2021 19:41

As far as i remember from the brochure seeing online it talked about covod and uwell not just from covid. But that was a while ago, it may have changed.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 22/02/2021 19:43

I would speak to gp and tell them because if you will get AZ you have good chance of side effects and they are not nice. I still have it.

HogwartsForever11 · 22/02/2021 19:56

My sister in law had this. Her GP said it was an incorrect flag on their system that still had her down as pregnant. But as others have said - you're getting vaccinated at some point anyway so just take it and enjoy :)

FrickinA · 22/02/2021 20:00

Be prepared to feel a bit rubbish for a few days afterwards..

Unless you have Pfizer apparently 😂 It's quite interesting the difference in how many people say had side effects from that one compared to AZ. Either way apparently better than covid. I did have massive issue with the arm pain so listen to them and don't get it into your main arm
LilQueenie · 22/02/2021 20:17

refuse until you are able to speak to your gp if you wish. It wont stop you transmitting the virus so no issue there.

FrickinA · 22/02/2021 20:21

Both seem to leave most people
Feeling pretty crap/flu like/ a hey but obvs massively better than getting COVID and/or being locked down forever...

confused774 · 22/02/2021 20:38

On the booking one it says it'll be the Pfizer one so I don't know about side effects!

I had Pfizer. First dose nothing but a sore arm, second dose I had a mild fever and chills about 12 hours after. That lasted about a day.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 22/02/2021 21:01

Oooh. I heard that people who react to first don't react to second and vice versa.
Interesting isn't it.

nokidshere · 22/02/2021 21:16

I had Pfizer and had no side effects at all, not even a sore arm.

typicalvalues · 22/02/2021 21:22

I'll ring them tomorrow. I'll explain that I'm currently quite unwell and ask whether I'd be able to handle the side effects, depending on which vaccine it is.

typicalvalues · 22/02/2021 21:23

Was just talking to a friend and she also cautioned against getting the vaccine now when I am really unwell. I'll see what their advice is.

muffb · 22/02/2021 21:43

DP is 36 and had his Saturday. No underlying health conditions so we did wonder why but he went for it, and was told it was because they are getting through it quick. He did say that he was definitely the youngest person there though. We are in west mids. Glad you've got it booked OP! Can't give any advice on side effects with the Pfizer vaccine though.

SnackSizeRaisin · 22/02/2021 22:11

@typicalvalues you shouldn't go to a vaccination centre if you are ill, for obvious reasons. There are likely to be clinically vulnerable people there who might be really ill if they catch whatever you've got. Plus the staff don't want to take time off with a vomiting bug either.
Quite apart from that, if your immune system is already fighting off some other bug, it may not be able to respond well to vaccination.

SnackSizeRaisin · 22/02/2021 22:14

Apparently the side effects can be worse if you've recently had covid! My poor mum who spent 2 weeks in bed with covid in December, spent another 4 days in bed after the AZ vaccine. And this is someone who is never ill . Although my dad didn't have any side effects (also had covid in December).

I work at a Vaccine centre.
We have had a few people who have been puzzled to be invited for a jab, but they've been vaccinated anyway.
Had one guy, early 30s, arrive at the centre in his running kit. Totally fit and healthy. Another woman in her 20s, her ill mum hasn't been called yet, but she had.
We've run out of vaccines until Friday now...

It's not a bug. I've had the nausea and pain for 3 weeks. I've been in hospital for 1 week and they couldn't find a cause - bloods all normal, no diarrhoea. Unexplained and sent home on strong painkillers and anti-emetics.

typicalvalues · 22/02/2021 22:19

That said, I'm weak as a kitten, and have lost a lot of weight to the point that I'm very underweight, so I'm not sure how well I'd handle severe side effects on top of what I'm currently experiencing.

typicalvalues · 22/02/2021 22:21

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that I'll ring them and ask to postpone. I strongly suspect I would land back in hospital if I had severe side effects.

Ontheboardwalk · 22/02/2021 22:24

I had surprise text telling me I was eligible to book. Got to the end of booking form and was told I was ineligible for the jab

Worried I’d miss my slot I called the helpline on the text. After 20 mins (freephone) I got through and was booked a slot

My area are doing one jab a minute just in one of many hubs. I don’t think you are taking a jab from anyone but could be loosing yours

Matilda15 · 22/02/2021 23:28

I’ve been called up and not sure why but I am having it done on Friday. I’m 33 no underlying conditions although am currently overweight (had a baby 10 weeks ago) but not obese.
I actually ignored the initial text assuming it was spam but my Drs reception team called and asked me to book or opt out. I did explain I thought it was spam and didn’t think I’d be eligible and she said well you are so please book or opt out so I’ve booked!
