Offered vaccine healthy 30s

160 replies

confused774 · 22/02/2021 08:54

I just received a message from gps offering the vaccine. I'm 32 healthy woman with 2 young children.
I don't know if this is a mistake, but when you call the doctors they have a voicemail saying that they basically won't have any discussions about the vaccine and to just do what they message says when you receive it!
I don't know whether to call them to ask if they've made a mistake or go ahead an book it!

@Hereforthedramaz

I'm 35 with no underlying conditions and got the call last week inviting me for the vaccine.

I flagged the fact that I didn't think I should be offered it just yet but the surgery receptionist was , understandably, not in a position to debate the reason why I was being invited. It really was a "are you refusing the vaccination?" conversation.

I was worried about being out on a refuse list so just went with the flow and had the jab on Saturday. The process couldn't have been smoother although I felt like a bit of a fraud walking in with lots of clearly unwell people!

I don't begrudge you getting the jab, but out of curiosity, I'll ask you the same question I asked the OP. If you try using the calculator tool (pretending to not have got jabbed yet, obviously), what sort of Covid score do you get? qcovid.org/Calculation

I'm wondering if you are at higher risk than you think, or if vaccinations are just really far along where you live.

Rubyupbeat · 22/02/2021 11:57

Doubt if it's a mistake, my area most from 30s up are being vaccinated, I am 57 and getting mine done tomorrow. And yet in the next borough friends 10 years older than me are still waiting.

VinylDetective · 22/02/2021 12:01

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal

This happened to my cousin! He's 37, no underlying conditions, slim, and very fit! His dad, whose nearly 60 and has a heart condition, hasn't been invited yet. Seems crazy, can only assume somethings gone wrong somewhere.
Same last name presumably. They’ve invited the wrong Mr Smith.
GabsAlot · 22/02/2021 12:02

i tried the nhs booking page ive got a bmi over 40 and got rejcted so who knows how it works

RuthW · 22/02/2021 12:07

No not call them. You either need want it or not. We are sick of the calls and we have no answers

Izitso · 22/02/2021 12:08

@Anna12345678910
Did you choose the "not sure" option? That is if you think you may be or should be closed as cv - don't mean to pry.

Izitso · 22/02/2021 12:09

You've been done ! One less for elsewhere.

I flagged the fact that I didn't think I should be offered it just yet but the surgery receptionist

In the nicest way possible, you have probably doubled the NHS resources needed to give you your jab.

This is what the NHS was created for. It's what it's good at. Please stop asking it if it knows what it's doing and go when asked.

Quite right, when I say flagged I just meant when the receptionist called me to book it in I said I was surprised as I should be in a much later group, I didn't get in touch with them separately so I shouldn't have wasted their time.
Izitso · 22/02/2021 12:14

Sorry that was meant for @LikeSomeKindOfMadness

LikeSomeKindOfMadness · 22/02/2021 12:19

@izitso

No no I appreciate the help. I do think i should be group 6. Once i have typed in all my info it gives me these options to click. Doesn't even mention CV or anything else. Just care workers. And gives the same option twice.

Yes, I am an eligible frontline health worker aged 18 or over

Yes, I am an eligible frontline social care worker aged 18 or over

I am not an eligible frontline health or social care worker

Horizons83 · 22/02/2021 12:19

Most Group 6 people cannot book through the website. This is because it's a harder category to identify (i.e. it's not as simple as recognising everyone qualifies from their date of birth) so the individual GP surgeries should be making the contact, not the NHS website.

Not the case if you have been issued a letter to shield - that is centrally managed and therefore being issued a letter will trigger your ability to book via the website.

LikeSomeKindOfMadness · 22/02/2021 12:20

@GabsAlot that's me too, due to my BMI but no option to book yet.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 22/02/2021 12:22

The gov has list of who is in which group and some details here
www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-the-green-book-chapter-14a

I know someone after retirement age with diabetes and aome other condition who still hasn't been invited. On the lther hand I know someone who has no issues and has been invited. There are some hiccups in the system.

ChabuddyAldona · 22/02/2021 12:23

I’ve got my vaccination today.

Early 40s, healthy weight, no underlying health conditions, nobody in my household is vulnerable.

No idea why I’ve been called up, but I’m going!

DHdweller · 22/02/2021 12:25

Have it if you want it. I’m similar and had had mine last Friday

Izitso · 22/02/2021 12:28

Actually, at step 3 here, it does say that you can be turned away if not eligible so I shall just have to wait and see! At least if I'm refused I'll know for certain that I'm not classed as vulnerable without having bothered the gp Smile

@MrsFezziwig

Interesting that young people are being called in London when London is well behind other UK regions (84% vs 94%+) in vaccinating over-70s, although that was at 14th February. Guess the last few of any age group are problematic to sort out!
I think different boroughs in London are having very different experiences, tbh. There are certain boroughs where take up is significantly lower than average, whilst others, with different demographics, are getting down the lists faster. For example, just 12% of the population of Lambeth are aged 60+, whereas 21% of the population of Harrow is.
SchrodingersImmigrant · 22/02/2021 12:31

@Izitso you have heart issues. You are group 6

Izitso · 22/02/2021 12:34

@LikeSomeKindOfMadness
I'm sorry to hear it wasn't successful. I had to answer "no" to that section but then it asked me to continue to the next. I may be refused when I get there, who knows? They'll have had a week to check my eligibility. I'd have felt easier if I'd received a letter but thought it was worth a chance trying to book.

Norwaydidnthappen · 22/02/2021 12:36

They added me to the shielded list last week for no reason at all. I’m 28 with zero medical conditions and I’m a healthy weight too. I honestly don’t know why they added me to the list so I phoned them and asked why. The receptionist told me it was because I had a chest infection in 2001... I phoned back the next day and asked to speak to a GP. The GP said it might be because I had gestational diabetes in my pregnancy last year but I’m a healthy weight and my blood sugar test postpartum was fine so he removed me from the shielded list.

They’re relying on algorithms as they did with the exam results last year, inevitably will be some errors.

TidyOmlette · 22/02/2021 12:37

If you can’t get through then please take it. Otherwise if you don’t attend it will go in the bin

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 22/02/2021 12:38

I would email surgery to query it. Likely they have something wrong in your notes. (Weight, asthma, career status...)

Izitso · 22/02/2021 12:38

@schrodingersImmigrant

Yes I know I'm in group 6 but they haven't officially been called yet - it was just something on the radio that alerted me and I have it a go on the booking app

I am group 6 and I had the jab before weekend. I think it depends on area.
But they do have some issues with it anyway going by what I see around

GabsAlot · 22/02/2021 12:41
