Offered vaccine healthy 30s

confused774 · 22/02/2021 08:54

I just received a message from gps offering the vaccine. I'm 32 healthy woman with 2 young children.
I don't know if this is a mistake, but when you call the doctors they have a voicemail saying that they basically won't have any discussions about the vaccine and to just do what they message says when you receive it!
I don't know whether to call them to ask if they've made a mistake or go ahead an book it!

I know everyone's right is what I meant to say obviously!

Good one, right decision definitely!

Izitso · 22/02/2021 11:26

I have tried contacting my gp for two days to clarify whether I am vulnerable but lines are just ringing out. I can imagine how busy they must be. So...I thought I'd use the NHS app and chose to answer (truthfully)"not sure" when asked if I was cv. I was given a slot! I have heart disease and RA.

DGRossetti · 22/02/2021 11:28

I felt bad if it was error and was depriving someone more in need

Look at it as if you are taking the jab on behalf of someone who should have it, but can't.

The more the better.

mcclucky · 22/02/2021 11:30

@confused774

Thanks for replies everyone. No I didn't have gestational diabetes and not overweight.
Have you done the test at qcovid.org/Calculation?

It also includes prior fracture of hip, wrist, spine or humerus, which wouldn't be something that would come to mind when considering if you're healthy now.

LikeSomeKindOfMadness · 22/02/2021 11:32

What app did you use @izitso ?

I'm group 6 and havent heard from my GP. I'm due back in school soon (teacher) so kinda hoped I would have one dose before. I wonder whether I can try and use the app.

Dementedswan · 22/02/2021 11:33

@Izitso which app?

ineedaholidayandwine · 22/02/2021 11:36

I had a text from the local vaccine hub on behalf of my gp practice, mid 30's mild asthma, went and had the vaccine yesterday, no one questioned anything.
I just assumed due to asthma and maybe my area are ahead of the schedule

MrsFezziwig · 22/02/2021 11:40

I'm going to disagree with the rest. Call your gp first as you may as well me turned away at the centre.

This is nonsense. You definitely won’t be turned away at the centre - all they are able to do there is confirm that you have an appointment and that you are who you say you are, they certainly don’t have the facilities to delve into your medical notes.

Only works in England though.

Just scrolled down to "book my appointments" and put my nhs number in. Been trying for a few days after hearing a piece on the radio but today it just happened!

LikeSomeKindOfMadness · 22/02/2021 11:44

I had a look at the webpage just ow and it says I can't book there as not CEV. I'm just group 6. So I guess I have to keep waiting.

Brilliant.

Those allowed to book has been changing constantly so it is worth others trying to book now.

Izitso · 22/02/2021 11:44

Good luck to those who try it by the waySmile

Interesting that young people are being called in London when London is well behind other UK regions (84% vs 94%+) in vaccinating over-70s, although that was at 14th February. Guess the last few of any age group are problematic to sort out!

Our centre said they had "plenty" of shots. So even a misplaced one or two isn't going to stop someone later getting the jab.
jessycake · 22/02/2021 11:48

Just have it, everyone that is vaccinated is good for the rest of us , its not worth the time and trouble to try and alter it .

Anna12345678910 · 22/02/2021 11:49

@LikeSomeKindOfMadness

If you are group 6 then go to the NHS website and book. It will not let you book if your group not open yet. You can pick a venue and a day and slot to suit you. There were lots of gaps when I book mine a month ago and my adult son (age 20 and group 6) recently, We were shocked at how empty our vaccination centre was!

Book it now.....

Izitso · 22/02/2021 11:51

I imagine it might only work for cv or ecv at the moment. As I mentioned, I'm not certain that I am (BHF say yes) so chose the "not sure" option and it was accepted. I'd have preferred clarification from gp but not going to keep trying for that. Surely my nhs number told them all they need to know.

Izitso · 22/02/2021 11:52

I am group 6 by the way

LikeSomeKindOfMadness · 22/02/2021 11:53

@Anna12345678910 thank you I just had a look. It says I am not eligible despite being group 6. I'm not sure why then. My GP surgery is very clear on not wanting to be called about vaccines so I don't feel I can approach them

Hereforthedramaz · 22/02/2021 11:54

I'm 35 with no underlying conditions and got the call last week inviting me for the vaccine.

I flagged the fact that I didn't think I should be offered it just yet but the surgery receptionist was , understandably, not in a position to debate the reason why I was being invited. It really was a "are you refusing the vaccination?" conversation.

I was worried about being out on a refuse list so just went with the flow and had the jab on Saturday. The process couldn't have been smoother although I felt like a bit of a fraud walking in with lots of clearly unwell people!

Anecdotally... I don't know anyone below 70 in London who has been called up for their jab, other than people with medical conditions. The youngest I know is only late 40s, but has a hidden disability that makes her extremely vulnerable (has been shielding).

I'm still waiting patiently and don't expect to get called anytime soon.

You've been done ! One less for elsewhere.

In the nicest way possible, you have probably doubled the NHS resources needed to give you your jab.

This is what the NHS was created for. It's what it's good at. Please stop asking it if it knows what it's doing and go when asked.
