To want to divorce my hubby

So bloody angry!!!
Hubby had a couple drinks tonight which is fine I have no issue with that. He came into bed and fell asleep. Also fine. But the stupid idiotic man decided to fall asleep half cut with a FULL glass in his hand! So he moved to turn over and splashed the whole bloody glass all over me, the bed and the duvet!!! Wasn't a small glass either. Didn't trust myself to wake him up cos I was so mad, so put a towel down to soak the worst of it off the mattress and I'm now on the sofa with a blanket!

Guess who will be doing clean up tomorrow!!! Certainly not me! He's totally oblivious snoring away like a walrus 🙄🙄

OP posts:
MrsTerryPratchett · 21/02/2021 01:59

That's pretty awful. Is he a massive drinker?

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 21/02/2021 02:16

In fairness I've done that sober while sleepily taking a drink 😂 though it was over my own face.

Is there a back story OP? A divorce for that seems pretty extreme.

Shakirawannabe · 21/02/2021 02:21

I'd be pretty annoyed if that happened also. But why not wake him and make him sort it out now before it soaks into the mattress etc

Weenurse · 21/02/2021 02:21

Oh dear ☕️🍪💐

duffmcstockings · 21/02/2021 02:26

Do it. We all want a divorce now. Maybe it is time for a big switcheroo.

It’s irritating and stupid, it’s hardly he burnt the house down and wants her to be a liver donor.
MrsTerryPratchett · 21/02/2021 02:47

That's your bar? Very low.

MiddleClassMother · 21/02/2021 03:14

If people get divorced for this type of stuff then I guess me and DH are getting a divorce after he broke my very expensive favourite vase whilst decorating!

jazz1995 · 21/02/2021 03:24

Bloody hell. I broke up with my boyfriend when I was 18 because he threatened me with a knife. By your standard I should of murdered him Grin

Nitpickpicnic · 21/02/2021 03:25

Wow, if that was the worst issue my marriage had, I’d be on Cloud Nine.

In noone’s reality is a spilled drink cause for more than ‘irritation’.

Consider yourself lucky and move on (rather than out)?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 21/02/2021 03:29

Just make sure you guilt trip him into cleaning up and waiting on you tomorrow Grin

Sapho47 · 21/02/2021 03:42

Is it worse because its alcohol?

If hed spilled tea at breakfast would you be equally annoyed or dismiss it as an accident?

DreamingofAruba · 21/02/2021 03:45

Red or white?

user1473878824 · 21/02/2021 04:49

A friend’s DP did this constantly because he was a shitty drunk and I think it’s awful. But if it’s the first time this is a thing, which it sounds like, then it’s an irritation. If it’s every time he goes to bed and is doing it then a spilled drink isn’t the issue. As I type this I realise we’re on the same page.....
swissmummy12345 · 21/02/2021 05:06

He should divorce you for calling him 'hubby' Angry

Monty27 · 21/02/2021 05:14

Hubby? No. Can't get passed that bit.

Oblomov21 · 21/02/2021 05:49

This is really bad. Why would anyone take a drink to bed. Some might go upstairs and put a glass of water on their bedside cabinet. But to actually get into bed? With a drink? Very odd. Pissed behaviour. Not ok. Would really hack me off and see them in a different light.

Nancydrawn · 21/02/2021 06:09

A glass of what?

Classicbrunette · 21/02/2021 06:24

My oh used to bring cups of tea to bed, and spill them all over the double bed when he nodded off to sleep. That was before I met him. I moved in with him, and I loved the bed, it was so comfy, I had the best nights sleep .. 😂 until I found all the stains on the mattress 🧐 but finding another mattress of that quality would be so difficult and so expensive.. so. Just put a good mattress protector on.. I’d never let him nod off with drink in bed now ..

I’d be furious op too, but divorce for that is a bit extreme unless there’s a back story.

Riapia · 21/02/2021 06:52

Should be horse whipped on the steps of his club.

Countrygirl2021 · 21/02/2021 07:00

It's pretty ridiculous for a grown married man to be drinking so much he gets drunk and makes stupid decisions. I'm assuming he's not a 19 year old student? I hate the culture of normalising silly drunken behaviour.

Make him clean it up and promise it won't happen again.

pictish · 21/02/2021 07:04

I say hubby all the time...I don’t give a shit that the Mumsnet hive mind have arbitrarily decided against it.
HUBBY HUBBY HUBBY

So anyway...is his drinking a problem? Is the smashed glass a one off?

I ask because this seems an overreaction to an accident...even if it was a spectacularly dozy one.
Is there more to know?

JerichoGirl · 21/02/2021 07:08

He sounds like an absolute moron. Honestly, people have such low standards that it's depressing.

GobbieMaggie · 21/02/2021 07:09

@DreamingofAruba

Red or white?
That’s what I was thinking
DinosaurDiana · 21/02/2021 07:11

Oh god, I hope it wasn’t red 😱
I’d have woken him up and kicked his sorry ass out of bed.
