Pancake day - what's the normal amount of pancakes to eat??

Having a bit of a debate. Family think 6-8 is normal. I have friends who are done after two.

How many do you typically put away??? Grin (hint: make me feel better about the fifth one I'm about to have...!)

Am talking about crepes btw.

@WolfHunter

None they are rank. Everyone else is having them for pudding. I'll just smash a family size chocolate bar instead. Grin
I'm not mad about this approach 😂

@Itstheprinciple

I had 4 at lunch time today 3 more at tea time. Am now in a nice stuffed pancake haze.

Having afternoon tea delivered tomorrow so it's not getting much better then!

Can I be you???

@SplendidSuns1000

We had pizza for dinner and DH still managed 9 crepes, I had 2 but there's some batter left over for a late night snack Grin
Lmao! Someone give that man a medal

@Franklyfrost

Two but with cheese, olives, tomatoes, broccoli, pepper and lambs lettuce in them. I think that’s about the same as eating a pizza.
This sounds exquisite

DH and I had one for pudding. Kids had 2. All with lemon and sugar natch

Hopeishere52 · 16/02/2021 20:09

We had 1 savoury with a sprinkle of cheese. Then 2 sweet with blueberries and ice cream and Nutella. This was our main meal today

emmathedilemma · 16/02/2021 20:09

I had 4 for breakfast but could have quite happily eaten more :)

LH1987 · 16/02/2021 20:10

Depends on the filling but 4 / 5 for me.

waitingforautumn · 16/02/2021 20:10

@Mrgrinch

One or two.

Anyone who sits and eats 8 pancakes is a greedy pig. That's ridiculous.

@PurpleDaisies

How big are the pancakes people eat though? Side plate sized because that’s the only pan that doesn’t stick.
Same here! I can eat a lot but have just managed 3. But I'm thinking ours are maybe bigger than other people's.
waitingforautumn · 16/02/2021 20:11

@Taylrse

2.5 because we ran out of batter! :(

However they're so thin and light I could eat alot more. Lemon and sugar all the way!

Try orange juice and sugar!!!!

Round one - two pan cakes with streaky bacon, syrup and blueberries

Round two - one pancake whipped cream, banana, maple syrup and chocolate spread

Round three - two pancakes, bacon, syrup and blueberries

Nunoftheother · 16/02/2021 20:11

Four for pudding, with sugar and lemon. Still hungry, but have run out of batter. Should have made twice as much.

Fucking delicious.

waitingforautumn · 16/02/2021 20:11

@FitterHappierMoreProductive

I had 5-6 dinner plate sized English pancakes. 2 with cheese and caramelised onion and the rest with sugar and lemon. Delicious! Eaten whilst standing at the pan making everyone else’s, although teenage DS sorted the fillings. And we all stood around cheerfully enjoying them in the kitchen, and everyone stopped after about 1 too many Grin. But that is surely the point?! A last hurrah before lent...
You and lots of other lovely people here are making me feel very normal 😇

@SmidgenofaPigeon

😂 we will have a lot of competitive pancake under eaters because it’s Mumsnet.

I’ll go- I have one, traditional of course, cooked in a tiny frying pan that came with the toy kitchen. But it’s an awful amount of sugar so I actually try and eek it out to the following pancake day next year, otherwise I will put myself at risk of being a size 10 and have diabetes.

@SmidgenofaPigeon

You savage! Grin

waitingforautumn · 16/02/2021 20:12

@PurpleDaisies

Eaten whilst standing at the pan making everyone else’s,

As a fellow commander of the pan, I salute you!

Hahah. Hats off to you guys. The commander is never me 😂

3 stone overweight so none for me this year Sad. I would say 2 or 3 normally, depending on size and thickness. Mine come out more like large drop scones than pancakes because I don't have the knack with them.

Grilledaubergines · 16/02/2021 20:12

3 (in a 10 inch pan, so pretty big I guess. With Nutella, cream and cooked cherries. Feel sick but so worth it. Rest of the mixture is in the fridge and will be used up tomorrow for breakfast.

TatianaBis · 16/02/2021 20:12

@JohnMiddleNameRedactedSwanson

It used to precede fasting. Now it just precedes more overeating.

Nunoftheother · 16/02/2021 20:12

@inmyslippers

Round one - two pan cakes with streaky bacon, syrup and blueberries

Round two - one pancake whipped cream, banana, maple syrup and chocolate spread

Round three - two pancakes, bacon, syrup and blueberries

Now you're talking!

Btw, is there a difference between a pancake and a "pan cake"?

Maybemay123 · 16/02/2021 20:13

It was 2 here.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 16/02/2021 20:13

OcelotPanda, that's what I did - meddled. i always think the heat is too hot and they're going to burn in the pan. They end up as some sort of pudding 'rubble'.

We had fishfingers. I might have a practice of these without expectant-soon-to-be-disappointed little mouths piling on the pressure.

Thank you! Grin

waitingforautumn · 16/02/2021 20:14

@FitterHappierMoreProductive

I don’t think you can tell people’s weight from their pancake consumption *@TatianaBis*

I had 5 or 6 (probably one of the people you’re judging) but I went for a 5 mile run this morning and have a BMI of 22. And anyway, naff off with your judgement, it’s been a miserable blooming 12 months.

👏

@waitingforautumn if you like orange juice on your pancakes have you tried grand marnier?

waitingforautumn · 16/02/2021 20:15

@JesusAteMyHamster

I've had 5.

2 crepes for breakfast filled with ham and cheese.

And I've just polished off 3, American pancakes topped with toasted marshmallows, Nutella, a mini mars bar, mini milky way, berries (( to healtherise the occasion )) an obligatory drizzle of syrup and a load of squirty cream.

Very much admire all you strategic folk who plan in a savoury choice. One day I'll be this put-together.
