Pancake day - what's the normal amount of pancakes to eat??

Having a bit of a debate. Family think 6-8 is normal. I have friends who are done after two.

How many do you typically put away??? Grin (hint: make me feel better about the fifth one I'm about to have...!)

Am talking about crepes btw.

2 savoury ones - 1 with spinach, mushrooms, bacon and feta and the other 1 with chicken mayo

2 sweet ones - 1 with strawberries and Nutella and the other with caramel and banana

This was our dinner and main meal of the day

You want to infer understanding & knowledge @TatianaBis
In fact it’s all he said,he did
Essentially, this all boils down to,you having an after dinner chat with your husband
You actually have no more to say than a biddy at a bus stop

inappropriateraspberry · 16/02/2021 22:10

I had 3 for breakfast, 1 at lunch and 3 after dinner! I could eat more but know I shouldn't.

Titsywoo · 16/02/2021 22:10

I had one for breakfast with cheese (not much of a sweet tooth), kids also had one, DH had about 8 (had them for dinner).

WaterGarden · 16/02/2021 22:12

A cheese and ham one, then a nutella/biscoff and strawberry one, then later on lemon and maple syrup

FabulousIAm · 16/02/2021 22:13

We had one each with loads of vegan icecream and strawberries. This is the first year my child ate one as they don't usually like them. Shrove Tuesday is a big deal though as its the final blowout before Ash Wednesday and Lent so we had a load of trash food too so full as. As a child I had loads of pancakes as that was our dinner. There was double figure kids too and we'd have them after confession so it was a massive deal. More the better I think if you are going to give up excess during lent as is the entire point.

Oh @TatianaBis, give it a rest FFS! I’m on a strict calorie controlled diet at the moment and am 16lb down since 1st January. I was still able to have 3 dinner plate sized pancakes with syrup and full fat Greek yoghurt for just under 400 cals. Bore off somewhere else.

Two dinner plate size pancakes each for our lunch. One with blueberries, raspberries, banana and Nutella, one with lemon juice and sugar. Delicious!

And we're back to invention. You meant imply not infer.

Someone said 'No-one gives a shit'. I pointed out that some people have to. At no point did I say that was me.

BackforGood · 16/02/2021 22:19

3 for me, but it is going to depend on the diameter of course.

Each year my (adult) dc reminisce fondly of the days when they would have :
Pancakes at Breakfast club
Sometimes Pancakes at school (less guaranteed this one)
Pancakes at home for tea, with family
Pancakes at cubs

All on the same day Grin

newyeardelurker · 16/02/2021 22:20

Hi me and DP had 1 each, in place of our afternoon biscuit. DD had 2. @MNHQ any chance of a chart for these essential polls?

mamaduckbone · 16/02/2021 22:29

We had them for lunch and I had 3, teen ds managed 6 and would probably have done more if there had been more batter. For pudding after dinner I would probably have 2.

ChronicallyCurious · 16/02/2021 22:33

We had four large American style blueberry pancakes with all the toppings as dinner tonight

EmmaGrundyForPM · 16/02/2021 22:35

I don't like them but if I did I would indulge in as many as I wanted. It's once a year FFS.

I did make a batch of them, the batter only stretched to 5 large thin ones so DH had three and DS had two. With lemon and sugar.

transformandriseup · 16/02/2021 22:36

Tonight - just 2 side plate ones after dinner and I shared those with the toddler.

Reading these posts I actually wish I'd had more and felt less guilty about a once in a year event :(

fruitpastille · 16/02/2021 22:38

@LyingWitchinTheWardrobe You need the Delia Smith basic pancake recipe (sorry haven't done link but just Google) and a non stick frying pan. I made double quantities (twice) around 2 savoury and 3 sweet for 5 of us.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 16/02/2021 22:38

I had two (dieting), but I reckon I could eat about 10 if they was in front of me. I just absolutely love pancakes Grin

ElizaLaLa · 16/02/2021 22:39

All the 😲 couldn't possibly eat a whole one people can fuck off. They are thinner than a wrap ffs 🙄

I didn't have any btw.

Hankunamatata · 16/02/2021 22:40

Until you feel sick 😬

I assumed 1000 cals for my smaller ones. I was wrong...

I decided to add each ingredient up to check and it turns out yours is a far more accurate total - I wouldn't have thought to check without your post.

Thank you!

NuniaBeeswax · 16/02/2021 22:45

Won't somebody PLEASE think of the NHS?! :'(

Chimeraforce · 16/02/2021 22:46

We had 2 each.

KeepWashingThoseHands · 16/02/2021 22:49

Let us not forget the whole point of pancake day is a feast before 40 days of Lent/fasting.

Ninkanink · 16/02/2021 22:51

we have pancakes throughout the year, whenever we feel like it! Shock

DH has them at least once a month. Life is for living. He’s in good shape, too.

Lemons1571 · 16/02/2021 22:59

Two tiny bites. Am dieting. Wish I didn’t have to though!
