none that i'm aware of, local supermarkets have been fine for fresh produce etc. dh works in a dark store, supplies are in as usual, he does stock control.

Lipstickandlashes · 16/02/2021 11:53

Had two deliveries from my favourite European brands (ordered in December) turned back at the border.

My company (media) was planning a project in Spain but we'll now have to work on with a local production partner as we're no longer European, halving the potential earnings.

I feel like we've traded a set of imaginary "inconveniences" that the right-wing press convinced us we had, for a set of actual inconveniences that will, to a greater or lesser extent, give us a poorer quality of life.

Cost of sending birthday present to my niece now more expensive than the item and took six weeks to arrive, and had to pay tax on receipt. What an utter shit show Brexit is

sluj · 16/02/2021 11:55

DH, DM, DF and DGM all got the covid vaccine.

Price rises
Pet passports
More far right, xenophobic culture acceptance
Increased building costs due to wood imports
Travel delays on A31

jasjas1973 · 16/02/2021 11:56

I can no longer get stuff sent from EU to the UK now, the companies have just stopped shipping, no tariffs don't mean no non tariff barriers which have added too much cost.

My friends business has had to set up warehousing in EU, job loses in UK.

Furrydogmum · 16/02/2021 11:56

My husband is under a lot of stress as exports to their biggest customer in Germany are held up at the port, and becoming less cost effective to the customer due to additional taxes.. He works for a big company and they have been cutting workforce for the last couple of years in readiness with more to go!

DynamoKev · 16/02/2021 11:58

More far right, xenophobic culture acceptance
eh? how have you seen this?

Large increases in costs to our business as regards exports to most of our customers. We are/were EU wide, so can’t avoid the tariffs without setting up an EU business snd moving jobs over the border.
Huge personnel hiccups too, but far too painful and outing to talk about.

AbsitivelyPosolutely · 16/02/2021 12:01

Garage doors are a nightmare at the moment.

I work for a house builder.

DioneTheDiabolist · 16/02/2021 12:01

So far I have had reduced choice at the supermarket, an order for an office chair for DS has been cancelled and I've seen threatening graffiti regarding the Irish Sea border.

It's a bit shit.

twoshedsjackson · 16/02/2021 12:01

When I bought my washing machine, the fact that it was a well=known Italian brand was a non-issue. Now it needs a new drum. Then engineer said he'd be back in a week to fix it. Then a call from his boss; part has to be ordered, and it'll be a month. Social distancing means that I can't rely on the kindness of friends or neighbours, as I have in the past, and the local Launderette is closed.
That'll be hand-washing, then.....

Graffitiqueen · 16/02/2021 12:01

No fresh herbs or lemons in our supermarket due to brexit.

DH bought a car part on eBay and an extra nearly £30 was added due to brexit.

A laptop for an employee in Poland was stuck at customs due to brexit.

Similar story here, lots have stopped shipping, and the few who still are have obviously had to increase the prices.
PersonaNonGarter · 16/02/2021 12:03
  • All grandparents vaccinated.
  • BIL and BFF vaccinated as healthcare workers
  • Scottish Independence people much quieter on Twitter
  • No clothes delivery to UK from my favourite European shops
  • Discussion of state aid ideas (specific to my industry)
  • My firm has expanded European presence

Mixed, some annoyances but basically positive.

TakeTheCuntOutOfScunthorpe · 16/02/2021 12:04

No problems here.

Kit19 · 16/02/2021 12:07

Couldnt send my best friend the Christmas present I'd ordered as the company were suspending deliveries to the EU and she had the same problem the other way. Since then whereas before I could just happily order something and send it to her, I now have to use companies within her own country because its so much cheaper.

NotMeNoNo · 16/02/2021 12:09

I'm trying to order some new glasses to replace broken ones. The frames I want are .... "in stock in Italy"
Also some fabric for sewing, is "stuck in Denmark"
These are small things compared to DH's business in music/events which is already hammered by Covid and now hammered again by stupid touring restrictions. If he doesn't go under he will be one of the lucky ones.
I hope history shows this up for the fiasco it is, so much needless waste and hardship for the sake of votes and flag waving.

sesquipedalia · 16/02/2021 12:09

My windscreen has cracked. Insurance would normally replace within 2 days. They can't tell me when the new screen will get through customs so I'm stuck as there are no replacement screens in the UK.

littleloopylou · 16/02/2021 12:10

I rely on an au pair.

I'm fucked after October.

oldwhyno · 16/02/2021 12:11

None so far apart from things I've seen in the news.

cate16 · 16/02/2021 12:19

Yes, our village is turning into a lorry park. You can't even visit the cemetery as lorries take up all the parking spaces. :(
