Well.... there is a backlash against the gutter press and the like who are all over shock horror 'a picture' and Oprah.

Prince Andrew is trending on twitter...

welshmercury · 16/02/2021 16:02

Great Step nephew to Camilla

GetOffYourHighHorse · 16/02/2021 16:09

'Prince Andrew is trending on twitter'

Is he? I've just had a look and couldn't see anything. I'm not sure why it's relevant though I don't know anyone who is a Prince Andrew fan or defends what is alleged.

It just seems weird that some of us would rightly question how can the RF come in for unfair scrutiny on a chat show by the very pair who rightly complain about unfair scrutiny, and we get 'but Prince Andrew!'.

Roussette · 16/02/2021 16:37

It's on the sidebar on my twitter feed, yes, 8000 tweets. i'm not making it up!

YeaOrNay · 16/02/2021 17:32

Good for them. I don't think they're hypocrites. You don't have to accept having no boundaries or being treated like scum by racist pigs just because you're a celebrity. I hate this "she was asking for it" mentality.

Meghan's father put her through an excruciating public display of betrayal. I'm surprised she didn't properly break down. The man and his other daughter were properly vile to her. I'm not surprised she didn't feel comfortable in a royal role as it's not one where she could speak freely or defend herself. If the shitshow with her wretched father hadn't happened I think she would have a chance of a transition to royal life but it simply wasn't going to happen after that disaster. It's a HUGE cultural divide.

I can't imagine William will be best pleased with them on Oprah. You can practically hear his teeth grinding from here. It's all just a shame for the two brothers. Mind you, Oprah is NOT Jeremy Kyle. Blimey. Google people, google .

@GetOffYourHighHorse

'You know for a fact she made an announcement that she was pregnant actually at the wedding? Would love to see proof of that. No idea on any of this, don't know how pregnant she was at the time but no doubt someone will come on here with facts and make it the most awful thing.'

Scobie and Durand said in their tacky Finding Freedom book Eugenie hadn't been impressed they'd told family on her wedding day. Though of course we know H&M had absolutely nothing to do with that book so it may be fake. Mind, if it was fake you'd think they'd have been sued..

Oh well, if they said it then it must be cast in stone!
Emeraldshamrock · 16/02/2021 19:23

It doesn't matter how important Harry is the press absolutely went for the jugular with Megan it was disgusting and immoral they done the right thing leaving the UK.
I have far more respect for the bravery they showed they must be a lovely couple to survive the awful treatment they recieved.

kittycorner · 17/02/2021 03:23

Very happy for them! Love the photo!

RickiTarr · 17/02/2021 08:29

@YetAnotherSpartacus

Wow, page 3 and the nasty creatures are already out in force. Really you are so pathetic. I'm not at all fond of the Royals, but I wish H&M all the best and it was such as joy to see such a lovely photo of both.
What kind of republican thinks it’s a “joy” to see a photo of a couple lying in the floor? ConfusedGrin

Baby news is always lovely news, whoever it is from, but if you’re not keen on the royals why are you all delighted about a cheesy picture? Smile

RickiTarr · 17/02/2021 08:35

@GetOffYourHighHorse

'Well personally I haven’t read the Scobie book, but hilarious to find those anti them/declaring them publicity seekers have'

Oh no you don't need to read it. There's things called newspapers, the internet and the news y'see. There has been snippets from that awful book that invades the RF's privacy for months.

Anyway, that's the source hope its helpful, as you did say say it was 'all conjecture'.

I thought this was fun.

Gosh you sound nice GrinHmm

YetAnotherSpartacus · 17/02/2021 08:51

Are 'nice' people those who take joy in seeing others unhappy then? There seem to be an awful lot of nice people on Mumsnet when it comes to H&M then! Personally, I'd prefer my company to theirs :)

GetOffYourHighHorse · 17/02/2021 08:55

'It's so lovely to see him so obviously happy in adulthood'

Yes it is, Harry and William's childhood was of course distressing and tragic.

That said he seems to be wanting to constantly put his family in the UK through the very same unfair scrutiny via trashy books and chat show gossip that he so very despises when he is the topic. Contrary, no?

In the nicest possible way, what the fuck are you talking about?

All publicity is good publicity - as long as M&H choose the source and feed the story! I would prefer a news black out. No media coverage at all. They are irrelevant.

SpringtimeBluebells · 17/02/2021 09:02

90 minute Oprah interview Hmm

Indeed
Roussette · 17/02/2021 09:04

I'm not 'delighted by a cheesy picture'. I'm just pleased that they are having another child and it's all working out for them, that's all.

And I think those that wish the worst on them are going to have to accept at some point that they are happy, they are living their best life, it appears to be working out for them. It's going to be a struggle for these people to accept because the dislike is so ingrained, but the way for a person to combat such nasty negativity is to lead a great life which is what they are doing.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 17/02/2021 09:11

'And I think those that wish the worst on them are going to have to accept at some point that they are happy, they are living their best life, it appears to be working out for them'

Yes and that is great. Like William and Kate, I'm so pleased they are all happy.

Why do you think they rightly object to unfair scrutiny but seem keen to subject his UK family to it? We don't know the content of the chat show thing yet though I'll guess it won't be complimentary as we have the FF book to go by. We know they have an axe to grind with how they perceived they weren't welcomed, despite their engagement interview which said the opposite.

Why don't they give the RF the same respect and privacy they themselves expect and infact sue over? Lead by example if you like.

RickiTarr · 17/02/2021 09:17

The thing is @Roussette most people don’t feel madly hostile to them nor madly madly obsequious.

The main thing that’s exciting comment now is that they’re benefiting from the dukedom whilst adopting a very Californian celebrity style and signing multi million dollar contracts. That’s the only thing that they can reasonably be criticised for. If they hand back the dukedom, he will still be Diana’s son, they will still have this incredible profile, the American market loves them. They will be rich and I’m demand and able to choose their work projects for the rest of their lives. They’re set and they generally seem to mean well, even if there is sometimes a culture clash that makes them play differently on either side of the Atlantic.

What keeps the overly-heated argument going is the people at the two fringes who are delusionally overinvested.

I’ve just been called a “bitter old [expletive deleted]” for the pretty mild observation that the photo was cheesy, but baby news is lovely news.

While the minority are that worked up over nothing, the batshittery will continue.

Koalababy · 17/02/2021 09:22

Why should they hand back the dukedom though? It’s Harry’s birthright as son of the heir to the throne. Just because he’s not a working royal why should he be stripped of his birthright as a prince? That’s like saying someone who chooses not to join the family business should relinquish the family name.

bluewanda · 17/02/2021 09:25

Not gonna lie. I cried a little. Having a rainbow baby after a baby loss is something I’ve yet to be blessed with. I’m 42 and in no way as fit and heathy as M aged 39

His “Prince” title is his from birth. No reason he should lose that.

The Sussex dukedom was given to him (them) when they married in expectation that they would be U.K. working royals.

At least that’s my understanding of how it works, which I probably gleamed from The Times. Smile
