'The main thing that’s exciting comment now is that they’re benefiting from the dukedom whilst adopting a very Californian celebrity style and signing multi million dollar contracts'

Yes they just seem to be trading off the whole royal thing to get Netflix jobs and constantly playing the victim over unfair scrutiny. Yet in the next breath sanctioning a book where the whole Rf and even the Queen's dressers behaviour was unfairly scrutinised!

They need to be consistent with their principles and outrage to be credible.

bluewanda · 17/02/2021 09:29

I can't imagine William will be best pleased with them on Oprah.

I doubt they’re going to start slagging off William or the RF. I suspect they’ll skip over the royal stuff with a few carefully worded PR soundbites and then focus on their charity work, philanthropy and hopes for the future.

GrimDamnFanjo · 17/02/2021 09:33

I think it's time they made their own way now.

Roussette · 17/02/2021 09:33

I get your point Ricki but whilst the likes of PAndrew holds the title of Duke of York it just carries no weight with me. No HRH for H&M but yes PA is still HRH. Double standards given he does no royal duties and the Sussex thing is the ONLY criticism that detractors can level at them now because they have repaid back renovation money etc etc.

I only come on these threads because I think they have been unfairly treated by the british gutter press and by a lot of people who hang them out to dry for stuff that the RF have been doing for decades. All this furore over a staged photo, there have been staged photos by members of the RF forever!
Yet they do and they get shit thrown at them.

Roussette · 17/02/2021 09:35

I think it's time they made their own way now

That is exactly what they are doing. And exactly what they are getting criticised for.
They. Cannot. Win.

Samcro · 17/02/2021 09:38

i really don't understand why people can't just be happy for them.
mn is really strange about MM. the countless threads started in the past just to rip her apart. the trolling, just strange.
the picture is nice (except the feet) and why not have it taken by a professional.

RickiTarr · 17/02/2021 09:38

He should lose his too, and I think he would have done by now if he wasn’t Mummy’s favourite.

Even 100 years ago, when there were non-working royals stuffed into palaces everywhere, they had a big clear out and demoted loads of them to “Lord” or “Lady”. It’s not a new concept that the BRF shouldn’t be allowed to become a massive gravy train.

I think Prince Charles will be a completely new broom when he takes over and sort a few things out that are overdue.

Koalababy · 17/02/2021 09:42

Totally agree Rousette.

What they are doing is the only thing they can do to make a living. Meghan can’t realistically return to acting and Harry can’t go back to the army. The only thing they can do now is be “influencers” such is today’s climate. Good for them for grabbing life by the balls.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 17/02/2021 09:44

Yes @Roussette I agree about Prince Andrew. If he keeps his titles then any royal who isn't doing royal duties should.

I'll ask again, what do you think about the unfair scrutiny that they are directing at his UK family via Finding freedom and a chat show interview. Is it fair to criticise it when they are the subjects but dish it out in the next breath. Can you not see it makes them look a bit hypocritical?

We're are all pleased H and William are happy etc etc etc. But unfair scrutiny and one sided stories/criticism are wrong aren't they? whoever is the source.

CallmeAngelina · 17/02/2021 09:46

A new baby is always nice news to hear, whoever it is.

But I don't know why we're meant to be excited about it, when by past experience, we will be excluded from seeing or hearing almost anything about it once it's here. That's their choice, of course, but I presume they won't be bemoaning the ensuing lack of interest in future years.

PresentingPercy · 17/02/2021 10:21

I think the first section of the Oprah interview is Meghan on her own. Will it not be "telling her story"? As she is on her own, it seems Harry is going to watch her dish uo "her story" virtually on her terms with no media scrutiny. Although Harry will not be obviously be part of it, he is of course going along with it. Harry is just popping up for more alphabet soup later in the prgramme. So he won't be part of dishing the dirt but how can anyone in the RF here be happy about this? TV and the RF never work regarding candid interviews. Diana, Charles and Andrew have all been car crashes. This will not be any different and is damaging and will possibly make the rift larger. But Harry seems to have lost all control and of his senses at the same time.

It is great to find "happiness" but this seems to be at the expense of others in Harry's family. Is Harry truly happy? Plus he is not likely to have much to do with any of his military roles in future. He has it all to lose. And he will.

Roussette · 17/02/2021 10:27

I haven't read the FFreedom book, I only know what I read on here and given the bias against them in the past on millions of awful threads, I took little notice of it.

And if you want my honest opinion which you will not like... I think M&H are a convenient vehicle to take away from favourite son and other RF stuff. Lucky for HMQ that her lobbying to have laws change to protect her finances type of thing. Heat off that now that M&H have the audacity to release a photo!

What chat show interview that they have done?
If you mean Oprah, they haven't done it yet! It's a bit much to criticise something and say it's unfair scrutiny of the RF when the interview hasn't taken place! Let's jump in with the criticism ready for when it does, even if they don't even mention the RF??!

GetOffYourHighHorse · 17/02/2021 10:29

'It is great to find "happiness" but this seems to be at the expense of others in Harry's family. '

Yes. It is this that their supporters go very silent about.

We all know he looked miserable for years she clearly gave him the support and strength to live the life he wants. Great news, I go along with that. Just go and be happy!

It's the muck raking, the back stabbing. It all flies in the face of everything they want for themselves.

Roussette · 17/02/2021 10:31

But I don't know why we're meant to be excited about it, when by past experience, we will be excluded from seeing or hearing almost anything about it once it's here

They have to announce it given the baby is 8th in line to the throne. And can you honestly honestly blame them for keeping Archie away from the public?
The disgusting comments after MM dared to read him a bedtime story (in aid of charity incidentally) were enough.

Roussette · 17/02/2021 10:33

It is this that their supporters go very silent about

I'm not. But I really don't want to rake up all the past with my view which will be unpalatable for you. Given the vitriol and vile trolling I received for sticking my head above the parapet before.

I have my views on it.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 17/02/2021 10:35

'I haven't read the FFreedom book,'

Oh roussette don't be so disingenuous. It has been widely reported what was written, it was an absolute none stop moan about perceived slights. Unfair one sided scrutiny.

Of course we haven't seen the chat show gossip yet, but cbs themselves have said it will be about royal life and leaving as well as their volunteering jobs. How on earth can they discuss that without discussing his UK family? One sided, unfair scrutiny. Again.

Samcro · 17/02/2021 10:37

'It is great to find "happiness" but this seems to be at the expense of others in Harry's family. '

I don't get that, who's expense?

PresentingPercy · 17/02/2021 10:38

So just live quietly. Be happy outside the glare of any publicity. They seem unable to live by their own wishes. They always publicise what they are doing when it suits them. They court publicity on their terms. Harry has been told off by a judge for his comments about a newspaper apology. No scrutiny is permitted and pur press is silenced. Every excuse is used to get what they want. She did not want to appear in front of a judge but is happy to go on Oprah. She is there to muck rake. What is the point of it otherwise? 90 minutes of banal words that mean nothing? God help us.

PresentingPercy · 17/02/2021 10:38

Make a birth announcement. No photo. Simple.

Roussette · 17/02/2021 10:39

So me saying I haven't read the book is 'disingenuous'. Hmm, it's the truth, I haven't.

BTW disingenuous is a favourite word on MN at the moment isn't it?

As I said, I am not raking up stuff from that book that I have views on. Needless to say I do not think the RF are whiter than white.

Roussette · 17/02/2021 10:41

Make a birth announcement. No photo. Simple

Can you let Eugenie know that please. She did a stylised picture of her and husband holding a pair of boottees for her announcement.

God help you maybe. How does what this couple do affect you? Get on with your own life. Simple.
GetOffYourHighHorse · 17/02/2021 10:48

'So me saying I haven't read the book is 'disingenuous'

No. Suggesting you don't know it was unfair critique and scrutiny of his UK family is disingenuous. You don't need to have read it to know it was a mudslinging exercise, sanctioned by them or else they would have of course sued if it wasn't. Who else would have known all their private details?!

Peaseblossom22 · 17/02/2021 10:50

I don’t really know much about them but I do fear for them. Having just managed to extricate themselves from one nightmare they seem to have launched themselves straight into another with the Oprah interview , the British press are in full roar again . I admire their Chutzpah but I think I would have layed low for a while and enjoyed the peace and quiet and my new baby .

Fuckingcrustybread · 17/02/2021 10:53

It's great news that M&H are expecting their second child. I hope that they're happy and that Archie enjoys being a brother.
The Oprah interview is another story, of course the interview will be about the British Royal Family, why else was MM invited to talk. If she hadn't married Prince Harry, Oprah wouldn't have given her the time of day.
I think that it's pathetic to think that MM has been invited for interview about anything other than the BRF.
