Who's asking us to shed a tear for them?

No one is

RF interviews tend not to go too well ......

RF interviews tend not to go too well ......
Jennie Bond on the BBC news making that very point just now. Diana, Charles, Andrew and Fergie. Did it do them any good? There are two types of royal interviews. Showing the work the person does and then there are the ones looking for sympathy. The latter never work. The reason is that the Royal family are hugely privileged and the vast majority of the audience is not.
Emeraldshamrock · 16/02/2021 12:43

I'm surprised this thread is still up.
Thrilled for them lovely news I hope they've a happy and healthy pregnancy.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 16/02/2021 12:48

Wow, page 3 and the nasty creatures are already out in force. Really you are so pathetic. I'm not at all fond of the Royals, but I wish H&M all the best and it was such as joy to see such a lovely photo of both.

ilikebooksandplants · 16/02/2021 12:50

I find the pair of them utterly ridiculous and wish they would fade off into obscurity. They make me cringe.

The entire RF is embarrassing, though. I don’t think we should drop the Andrew thing though. Something wrong with that one....

GetOffYourHighHorse · 16/02/2021 12:54

'wish H&M all the best and it was such as joy to see such a lovely photo of both.'

Yes, same. It was lovely wasn't it. However it's moved on to the Oprah tell all interview. Don't you think Harry's family has as much right to the privacy that he rightly expects? Who knows, they may not throw his family under the bus but I don't think they can spend 90 mins chatting about parenthood and volunteering,

Snugglepiggy · 16/02/2021 12:56

The comment that sums it up for me-can't remember where- is they seem to want maximum publicity but absolute privacy.I think it's a lovely photo and genuinely hope everything goes well with the baby. But hearing about the Oprah interview this morning made me cringe.Much the same as the SA interview.

poppycat10 · 16/02/2021 13:03

I just think it's hypocritical. On the one hand lecturing us about the environment, but obviously none of that applies to them and they'll just keep procreating rich kids who will take up more than their fair share of the earth's resources. Archie should have been enough.

Same goes for William & Kate - not sure why they needed 3 and more to the point why she put herself through 3 pregnancies with her extreme morning sickness. But each to their own I suppose.

I did like the photo.

BLToutanowhere · 16/02/2021 13:06

Doesn't want publicity. Signs up for Oprah. Hypocrisy much?

Also, isn't this the second time she's conveniently announced something to take the wind out of Eugenie's sails?

PinkyParrot · 16/02/2021 13:16

Lovely news, I'm very happy for them

jackieweaverismyhero · 16/02/2021 13:23

congratulations to them, like any couple expecting a baby.

they're doing privacy all wrong though.

Brefugee · 16/02/2021 13:37

I don't think they've ever said they want to fade into obscurity though. There's a huge difference between giving Oprah an interview on your terms and having the contents of a private letter splashed all over the tabloids.

Frankly, i can't care one way or the other, but I'm always happy for someone when they announce a pregnancy, especially if it follows a miscarriage.

They announced their first pregnancy at Eugenie's wedding, then made it public a day or so later. Now they choose to announce the second pregnancy days after Eugenie had her baby.

They were in the wrong with the first, but IIRC it was only that the bump was visible so they had to make a comment. If they'd announced the pregnancy at any point in the 2 weeks before that wedding they'd have been accused of stealing E's thunder. But i think they should have. For the second - E can't possibly care. She's had her baby, she had 2 days exclusive limelight. Job done.

It's like a soap opera i can't put down. I'm not a monarchist but i do like to check in from time to time to see what's going on in RF-land.

Roussette · 16/02/2021 14:08

What would have been suitable timing for you? They left it a week, or was it 6 days. The RF knew about her pregnancy in advance and no doubt Eugenie knew too and possibly said it was fine. And they haven't even announced the baby's name so doubtful that they're crying into their pillows over this if they haven't even done that.

Zara Tindall announced her pregnancy just after MM said she had a MC. Was that bad timing too or was that OK?

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 16/02/2021 14:17

But she had waited a long time. MM's miscarriage hadn't just happened. She revealed that she had sadly had a miscarriage months before. I think months afterwards is fine, it's not like Zara could continue to hide it after a certain point.

Roussette · 16/02/2021 14:22

And nor could MM hide it either.

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 16/02/2021 14:23

I've just checked and yes, Zara announced her pregnancy five months after Meghan's miscarriage. I wouldn't say that's insensitive, no.

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 16/02/2021 14:28

@Roussette

And nor could MM hide it either.
There's a bit of a difference between announcing at someone (less high profile) else's wedding and waiting five months, though, isn't there? Do you honestly believe it's the same thing?
Roussette · 16/02/2021 14:31

I'm talking about this announcement. She couldn't leave it much longer given I understand the baby is due Spring.

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 16/02/2021 14:44

Right, but the first time?
Oldbutstillgotit · 16/02/2021 14:55

As MM would only have been a few weeks pregnant at Eugenie’s wedding , I doubt there would have been an obvious bump !

Roussette · 16/02/2021 15:04

Right, but the first time?

You know for a fact she made an announcement that she was pregnant actually at the wedding? Would love to see proof of that. No idea on any of this, don't know how pregnant she was at the time but no doubt someone will come on here with facts and make it the most awful thing.

Bottom line is... we don't know. Maybe they told the marrying couple beforehand. Maybe everyone was happy about it all.

Creating a narrative to make out the worst of someone is just strange to me.

TheKeatingFive · 16/02/2021 15:10

The stuff about Eugenie’s wedding is all conjecture. No named person ever confirmed anything.

Oldbutstillgotit · 16/02/2021 15:13

The wedding was on 12th October 2018 . Archie was born on 6th May 2019 . People can do the Maths . I have no idea what ( if anything) was said to whom at the wedding but the loose fitting coat certainly got people talking .

Oldbutstillgotit · 16/02/2021 15:14

And before anyone jumps on me , I hope that MM has a healthy pregnancy- a new baby is always a joy.
