Soft porn included in "recommended resources" for secondary school kids in Wales

I have seen it all. The Women's Equality Network in Wales and produced a "toolkit" to celebrate international women's day which links to resources from Gal Dem which includes a soft porn video where the actress says "how do you want to f**k tonight Daddy". Also on the site are tips for "kinky zoom orgies"

Have they actually lost their minds? More information here:

twitter.com/SafeSchools_UK/status/1360320342141653006?s=20

AIBU to think this is just out and out grooming?

Have attached a screenshot for those who don't like to click on links

@2fallsagain Thank you, I have now watched that video. It's a short story played by two actors. It's not pornographic.

I do think a fictional story where everyone keeps their clothes on and there's no actual sex is OK for a young adult viewer, yes. It would be rated at 15 at most if it were a film in the cinema.

Would I target it at 10 or 12 year olds? Definitely not.

Does the presence of that video mean that the entire website is "soft porn"? No.

I agree, soft porn should not be shown to children.

I disagree that the gal-dem and that video is pornographic.

@TravellingTilbury

If you look for 'Welsh WEN toolkit' on a search engine it brings up the 2020 one:

wenwales.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/IWD2020.WenWales.Toolkit-Final-Jan-2020.pdf

but the one for 2021 is listed as:
www.transgendertrend.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/IWD2021.WenWales.Toolkit.English.pdf

which is why my instinct is that transgendertrend maybe offered to produce it? perhaps they offered to promote it on their site, but why not have a pdf in the same style as 2020 and just link from their site? I would argue that it is not appropriate for them to change the whole 'title' of the pdf (sorry, don't know how to describe it properly).

You can only access the 2021 pdf through the transgendertrend webpage (I think), unlike the 2020 pdf.

Transgender trend have not produced it. They have hosted it because it's not publicly available. They were the group calling WEN out.

@TravellingTilbury you can get a copy of the toolkit from WEN directly here if you're a teacher or youth leader.

wenwales.org.uk/champion/international-womens-day/

Transgender Trend have obviously obtained a copy and uploaded it to their site so other people can see it too.

I'm not sure why you find this so difficult to understand.

And if you knew anything at all about Transgender Trend it would be obvious that they didn't produce this toolkit. You could start by reading that long post of yours which was a c&p from their homepage.

2fallsagain · 13/02/2021 00:05

@TravellingTilbury

Do you think transgendertrend approached Welsh WEN and 'offered' to help by 'promoting' it (... and edited it to include the gal dem)? That's only a suggestion so apologies to transgendertrend group if they weren't involved in the 'gal dem' inclusion, however transgendertrend also have to take responsibility as their are hosting the pdf.
No. You have completely misunderstood. These documents have a habit of disappearing. You have to sign up to a mailing list to get it TT have got hold of it and have put it in their site to publicise the shower of shite.

The actress asked "how do you want to fuck daddy". Whilst waving her practically unclothed arse at the camera. No way my 15 year old should watch this or indeed would want to watch it. She walks out when they start snogging on Ackley Bridge.

I really hope you don't have any job that involves kids or safeguarding if you think this is fine to be shared with secondary school kids.

Sorry - yes, I completely got the wrong end of the stick! In my defence I've been in and out fixing smoke alarms and am v stressed! Please delete any of my posts that are misleading.

In my haste, I misunderstood transgender trend. I see now that they are advocating for women's rights. Makes total sense. And now I've had a chance to read comments I see you've been patiently trying to tell me! Sorry for the confusion!

And keep up the good work looking our for our children. There are too many things that slip through the net and need to be questioned.

nothingcomestonothing · 13/02/2021 00:12

The Womens Equality Network don't actually know what a woman is. Fantastic, that'll help them promote equality for women then, won't it? This is beyond ridiculous now. Angry

OldCrone · 13/02/2021 00:13

Please delete any of my posts that are misleading.

You can report your own posts and ask MNHQ to delete them. That would be better (for you) than other people reporting them.

@Lockheart

Have you not seen the site properly?

On the home page there is an article titled

'Kinky zoom orgies, lingering exes and wank addictions: inside Britain’s sexual recession'

Then a quick search on the website has articles

'Queen & Slim’s director explains that sex-murder mashup scene'

'How to have kinky feminist sex'

'How being a professional Dominatrix gave me sexual liberation'

This is not a website that should be recommended to CHILDREN. Secondary children are as young as 11!

'LELO: sex toys and prosthetics have been key to my sexual liberation'

'

Lockheart · 13/02/2021 00:19

@2fallsagain I know, I watched the video - all of it, not just choice sections which I could take out of context to whip up outrage on an internet forum. I also read the blurb about it, which I would hazard you have not.

The fact you don't think it's appropriate does not render it pornographic. The premise of your thread is that the toolkit contains soft porn. Firstly it does not, it contains a link to a website which has, among many things, a couple of things which you object to. And secondly, this video simply is not soft porn in UK law. It is not pornographic by the UK legal definition.

(3)An image is “pornographic” if it is of such a nature that it must reasonably be assumed to have been produced solely or principally for the purpose of sexual arousal.
www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2008/4/part/5

It's an arty film - albeit one with extreme language - but it's not porn.

Again, I will repeat that I wouldn't show this to children but I don't think it's inappropriate for a young adult.

Sorry - I got the wrong end of the stick re: transgender trend and have reported my unhelpful threads for deletion. Apologies for the unnecessary angst and confusion and thank you for your patience. I am very stressed tonight!

Well it's a good job that it's not being recommended to children then, isn't it?

It's being included in a resource pack for teachers and youth leaders. Not children.

ChickenonaMug · 13/02/2021 00:21

How does anyone think it is ok to provide a link to school children directly to a website with an easily accessible video about a paid sex cam scenario in which things such as the following are said ( I apologise for this but children are being directed to it):

Woman - “who you want to fuck me with tonight, daddy?” and then from the ‘client’ - “ you a nasty little bitch, huh!” - and also from the ‘client’ referring to Tilda Swinton and what he wishes to do to her - “Like I’ll beat the breaks off of her ass”

I know this isn't possible for everyone, but this sort of thing is the reason why we have decided to homeschool.

Sure, there are some excellent articles on there which would be great for teachers to print out and give to students. Especially in those schools where POC are under-represented.

TVDFan · 13/02/2021 00:33

@Lockheart

Doesn't matter if there are some good articles, it shouldn't be on the recommended reading list for children as young as 11. Simple.

TravellingTilbury · 13/02/2021 00:33

I'm mortified that I jumped to the wrong conclusion, apologies again. The transgendertrend group sound amazing and very much needed to advocate for our women.

I had, wrongly, assumed that Welsh WEN were the 'innocent' party and had let some other group edit their toolkit. Clearly, this wasn't transgendertrend Blush.

Did Welsh WEN oversee the document and know that this gal-dem link was included? Or was it another consultant/group that got involved?

It's terrible.

[And thank God my smoke alarms have stopped going off. They've been unscrewed, new batteries and are by my bed so I don't have far to leap out in case they do go off again...]

Honestly, credit to the feminism board on mumsnet and all the work you've all done looking out for girls and women. You were on the ball years ago.

ChloeCrocodile · 13/02/2021 00:37

I've just had a quick look through the front page of that website and there's no way in hell I'd direct children I teach to it. It is clearly aimed at adults and has no place on a recommended reading list for schools.

All the other titles on that list are clearly for children to read so I don't see why posters are trying to pretend that the website is for teachers to read.

TVDFan · 13/02/2021 00:40

@Lockheart

Also it is available to pupils.
