@LemonTT that's exactly it. Sniggering at the choices of others isn't it? They don't like it? Fine, don't buy it but I don't understand this whole holding things like homes up to ridicule...which is what it is let's face it.

From the snide comment about Ipswich from the OP I'm guessing it's a local to Ipswich and its environs. So much local snobbery.

You do get a lot of bang for your buck though.

@jambeforeclottedcream we have two - one in the dining room (which is more formal and gets used for big dinners / parties / meetings when I work from home and shares a room with our piano/ musical instruments) and one in the 'breakfast' room (adjacent room to the kitchen) that's covered in a wipe clean cloth gets used for everyday / kids work / painting / drawing etc
Both look smart when the house is dressed for photos but everyday look quite different.

Oh I get the reasoning behind 2 dining room tables. But the one in the lounge looks so out of place. And especially when that sofa/ family room looks so cramped.

BiggerBoat1 · 07/02/2021 13:41

Jesus! You can't buy taste can you?

Guylan · 07/02/2021 15:23

Is this building on the floor plan? I can’t work it out.

AdultierAdult · 07/02/2021 15:47

Not to my taste but dont mind a bath in the bedroom. My husband is v keen on us having one installed in our bedroom by the fireplace. Agreed on loo though, I don't even like en suites! Nice to have your own bathroom but a few extra steps through a hall or dressing room is preferable to having DH pooing in such close proximity to the sleeping area. Ick. In the room is another level!

DrManhattan · 07/02/2021 16:06

The narrow living room, for a house that size???
Kevin Mc would love this....

funinthesun19 · 07/02/2021 16:12

Wow, nice house. I bet their shed is about the size of my house.

CoronaIsWatching · 07/02/2021 16:16

I quite like the bath in the bedroom concept especially with that wood burner next to it. Not a toilet though

Sparklesocks · 07/02/2021 16:19

Your window cleaner would be quids in

MissKittyCat · 07/02/2021 16:26

That's the cinema/games room.
Thewinterofdiscontent · 07/02/2021 16:29

@Bluntness100

Gosh, some of these comments, the posters hurling abuse should put pics of their homes up...

I think lots of it is lovely and done very well. It’s someone’s home.

Except they want to sell it.

It’s not like MN have gone round with the camera is it.

OakSnows · 07/02/2021 16:30

Think having the bath in the bedroom is fine, but never a toilet!

wowier · 07/02/2021 16:36

I like the idea of a bath in a bedroom & have stayed in hotels with that set up. The too much grey & not nice decor is more offensive to me

wowier · 07/02/2021 16:37

oops missed the toilet!

Sheleg · 07/02/2021 16:37

What a horrible, tacky house.

Guylan · 07/02/2021 16:40

@MissKittyCat, thanks, but thought games room first floor?

Dutchesss · 07/02/2021 16:41

I'd happily live there..

Guylan · 07/02/2021 16:41

Ps in the 2013 listing there was the games room and then the mention of the above building as a separate garden room?

Guylan · 07/02/2021 16:46

Ah, see you are right MissKittykat, thank you!

CSIblonde · 07/02/2021 16:47

Thats erm, an interesting home. When i worked for an EA, the word ,'unique' usually meant awful decor & weird design. It's too open downstairs, feels cold & clinical. And decor wise , upstairs is a mish mash of trendy ( bath in bedroom) & 80's suburbia.

Horehound · 07/02/2021 16:57

I quite like the house although I agree I wouldn't have a toilet in the bedroom.

PandemicAtTheDisco · 07/02/2021 17:00

We are all different; we have differing tastes. Life would be boring if we were all the same.

Some people are very blasé about bodily functions. They will happily leave the door open when they are on the toilet so that they can converse to friends and family. They won't mind company (that's defecating and stinking out the room) whilst having a bath.

Men use urinals and most are happy to pee standing next to each other. Men seem to have less inhibitions about urinating and defecating in public.

Some people have mobility issues or other health needs and may not mind the lack of privacy - having a more accessible bathroom may be a safety precaution.

thebabessavedme · 07/02/2021 17:05

I am not very keen on the house, it looks rather cold and stark to me, howver, I would like to defend Ipswich, it has some lovely areas, some beautiful houses, some good schools, its only just over an hour into liverpool st on the train, the surrounding coast and countryside are lovely. Of course there are some social problems, areas of poverty, poor schools and has its share of drug issues etc, show me a town that dosent have any of these problems and then be sniffy!
