to think that Jackie Weaver is a hero to feminism?

Because I refuse to believe that those appalling men would have spoken to another man the way they attempted to shout her down. She handled herself so beautifully.

Frankly I think she deserves to be Dame Jackie Weaver for services to common sense!

And what a depressing statement from a previous PP that when a woman refuses to accept her 'place' when a man attempts to be aggressive and intimidating to her, that she is labelled a bully and shouty. When all she is doing is refusing to be shouted out.

Peregrina · 07/02/2021 13:38

She was the clerk for that meeting though - having been parachuted in because the triumvirate had illegally sacked the previous one.

ScreamingBeans · 07/02/2021 13:55

@wintermoths

my immediate thought was that JW was the one being unprofessional not allowing the men to speak, and evicting them in a power hungry way

That's because you are so used to seeing men behave in an aggressive way that you consider it the norm and therefore acceptable. Bur you are so unused to seeing a woman refuse to put up with this from a man, and to have the ability to refuse to put up with this from a man, that you have misinterpreted this as HER being power hungry and unprofessional.

Spot on

Why is Aled so angry ?
Why didn’t the chairman want the meeting to go ahead?
why haven’t they had a meeting in 6 months?
I need to know!!

This is from the independent article. So one of them is now threatening journalists...

When The Independent phones, a man calling himself a lawyer – but declining to give his name – picks up

“I suggest you keep very quiet on this,” he says, apparently not aware there are literally already mugs and T-shirts on sale referencing the whole affair. “You are talking to a lawyer. There are three lawyers in the [Brewerton] family … You are now at the top of our list.”

LApprentiSorcier · 07/02/2021 14:45

Toppling the government is unlikely. Everybody's talking about this at the moment - but in a few days it will be yesterday's news, if it isn't already.

What a twat. I hope he is being investigated by the law society for being a bullying psychopath.

That vile man with his toothless gob close to the screen! They should make dentistry a precondition of being elected!

trulydelicious · 07/02/2021 14:54

@LApprentiSorcier

Everybody's talking about this at the moment

Do you realise how ridiculous this is?

Sorry, do you mean it's ridiculous that people are talking about it, or that you don't think people are talking about it and it's ridiculous to suggest they are?

trulydelicious · 07/02/2021 14:58

@katy1213

They should make dentistry a precondition of being elected

That's so rude

Actually he was quite calm at the beginning. He started to become slightly unsettled when the lady took no notice of what he was saying and suddenly cut him off

I had to watch the video again and I still don't understand how something like this could go viral if it wasn't for some group orchestrating it

katy1213 · 07/02/2021 15:07

@trulydelicious Are you his wife?
I was also thinking, 'Thank god I'm not married to him!"

There's only so much anyone can do to orchestrate something going viral, though. If things going viral could be entirely orchestrated, everybody would be doing it to get YouTube revenue. This went viral because it showed drama and people behaving badly which is something others like to watch - it also happened to have some 'catchy' phrases ('You have no authority, Jackie Weaver") - it's also timely because most people are experiencing the quirks and glitches of remote meetings, so they can relate to 'Jackie's I-pad' randomly flashing up, Ian being on mute etc. Sometimes things just have the right ingredients that add up to an online hit.

Hahaha I was thinking that too. I bet he has angry sex too. And angrily stirs sugar in his tea and angrily mows the lawn.

indeed 🤣

saleorbouy · 07/02/2021 15:09

Well its not really about men or women its just about people being disrespectful and unprofessional in a meeting and not knowing how to conduct themselves. I don't see how she is a hero to feminism she just knew how to hold the fort and not to retort to the behaviour she was being exposed to.

Roussette · 07/02/2021 15:15

Do elaborate.... I'm all ears....

Who are 'some group' ?
What are their aims?

Roussette · 07/02/2021 15:16

I bet he has angry sex too

Nah
ED undoubtedly!

trulydelicious · 07/02/2021 15:20

@saleorbouy

she just knew how to hold the fort

How? Kicking people off?

trulydelicious · 07/02/2021 15:21

@Roussette

What are their aims

Read some of Arobase's posts. She explains it well

Noranorav · 07/02/2021 15:23

@Viviennemary is that you Aled?!
