To ask what YOU think a high salary is?

Going off the back of the salary thread and the savings threads. A lot of people are aghast at the wages and say that ppl are lying!

What do you think is a high wage for say a woman in their 30's?!
Would you say differently for a man?

I think anything over 100k is a high wage for either. 25-35k would be low imo and anything in the middle would be a good salary.

Thefrenchconnection1 · 06/02/2021 21:52

I'm not in London. I think 35k is good

AliceinBunniland · 06/02/2021 21:53

If 25-35 is low then what about under 25 OP which is what a log of people earn?

It is all relative.

I would consider over £75k ish to be a high earner whether a man or woman

I understand £27k is about average

I consider over £40k to be a good salary but again it depends on all the circumstances eg it's one thing if there is one earner in the house on £40k and quite another if two adults working and earning that amount each

Alaimo · 06/02/2021 21:53

50k. Especially for someone in their 30s.

MillieEpple · 06/02/2021 21:54

Over 35

RaininSummer · 06/02/2021 21:54

Where I live, I would think anything over 35k was pretty good.

minimummies · 06/02/2021 21:54

Under 25k to me would be extremely low and I would expect it to be a part time role if I'm honest.

Comefromaway · 06/02/2021 21:54

I think £20k is low. £30- 40k (which both me & Dh come into is mid range.

£60k plus is high. £100k is rich beyond my imagination.

minimummies · 06/02/2021 21:55

I'm not in London either

MarthaWashingtonsFeralTomcat · 06/02/2021 21:55

£50,000 (higher rate tax payer territory) is high imo, especially if only in 20s or 30s.

I am in the midlands and £100,000 for a single earner would be almost unheard of.

Abcdeisarealname · 06/02/2021 21:55

Upwards of £250k

superduster · 06/02/2021 21:55

£45k+ is a high salary, I'm in the South East not London.

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 06/02/2021 21:57

Over 35 would be good. Over 50 wouls be high.

Under 25 are lots of roles - family support worker, childcare worker, admin jobs, library assistants, TAs (sort of part time), many many many jobs. Bit surprised how out of touch you are that youd assume part time.

BlowDryRat · 06/02/2021 21:57

£100k+

All your full time GPs, most hospital consultants and dentists will be on over £100k

Lifeinaonesie · 06/02/2021 21:57

Anything over £200k

The median household income in the UK is about £30k so under £25k could not be considered 'extremely low'
Pleaseaddcaffine · 06/02/2021 21:59

Who cares?
Also is it wage or income, Im salaried at 37k but earn 6.5k on top from other sources.
Would that make me low, middle or high? My partner wage is crap, so our household income isnt high.
As long as you can pay your bills then that's good.

PrivateParty · 06/02/2021 21:59

This just depresses me...

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 06/02/2021 22:00

I consider anything over £70k to be high- London myself

ssd · 06/02/2021 22:01

I think 35k is a great salary for either sex

🤣🤣🤣

Many jobs are under that wage and certainly not part time. Many are even 40+ hours!

TheCanyon · 06/02/2021 22:01

Scotland 40-50 would be a dream

This makes you sound quite ignorant OP.

How about you look up what the average person in the UK earns before you ask Mumsnet as you seem to be lacking in the basics.

How pretentious and annoying
NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 06/02/2021 22:02

In london & the south east i would consider the following for a man or woman in 30s:
High: 80k and over
Mid: 40 -80k
Low: 20-40k
Very low: under 20k

If someone worked part time out of choice I would bracket their income on what the annual salary would be working full time.
