To think not everyone washes their hands after every single wee when in their own home?

Anything other than a wee, yes of course.

But washing hands after every bloody wee is overkill in my opinion

@cissyasflora. True. Its mostly ginger floof.

Esspee · 05/02/2021 23:28

Every single wee - absolutely. Always have done. It’s basic minimum hygiene and before handling food every time.

CuntyMcBollocks · 05/02/2021 23:28

I'd say I do for about 99% of them.

jazzandh · 05/02/2021 23:29

The bigger problem is people putting their hands constantly in their face or their mouth with no awareness.

That's how germs spread, covid/noro or any other.

SilverSemblanceSoftly · 05/02/2021 23:29

I think most normal people wash their hands every time.
You are very strange, and quite dirty.

You do know that germs are invisible?

I wouldn’t want to eat food or drink that you’ve prepared

IDKNABYBIF22 · 05/02/2021 23:30

@HopingForOurRainbowBaby

Even if the patient had HIV or hepatitis it wouldnt have mattered because you can't catch blood bourne viruses like HIV and hepatitis from urine splashing in your eye. Not an excuse to not wash your hands though!

Serin · 05/02/2021 23:30

I do but I'm not in the slightest surprised that others dont. I take people to the toilet all the time in hospital and very few make any attempt to wash their hands until I remind them. Even with the pandemic. Its grim.

@shouldreallynamechangemore if someone can't be assed using basic hygiene and wash their hands after having a wee, do you genuinely believe they will wash them before preparing food?? ;)

I am an absolute minger by mn standards, have never used sterile hand wash in my life, don't shower every day and I'd hate to admit how often I change my bedsheets. But this has blown my tiny middle aged mind! Didn't know people would actually do this. Or not do this, should I say.

But hey you live and learn, and I'm def going to be asking my mates!!

SamLovesLembasBread · 05/02/2021 23:31

I wash my hands every time because it feels disgusting not to do so, not because I think I'll catch something if I don't.

I don't really understand what's to be gained by not washing. Ok, fine, for someone who has a condition that makes them need to pee all the time... I feel for you, but I think I'd still wash and just moisturise afterwards. But for those who have no such condition, how much time and trouble does it actually save to not do a quick wash?

I'm not convinced that not washing your hands leads to stronger immune systems, but whatever, maybe I'm wrong. I suspect it has more to do with genetics and lifestyle (staying active, healthy eating, etc.) than with exposing yourself to germs to keep the immune system in tip-top condition. Hmm

CayrolBaaaskin · 05/02/2021 23:31

Yanbu op. It’s bad for skin to wash hands too much and no need after a wee in your own home

TaraR2020 · 05/02/2021 23:31

Eww

Between this and other recent threads, I'm beginning to doubt I'll ever visit anyone's house again after Lockdown.

Literallynoidea · 05/02/2021 23:32

I do. And I think I'm pretty no nonsense about other stuff but I feel dirty if I don't, even if I don't have wee on my hands. Just touching the flush, for example, is enough for me to have to wash my hands.

Idontbelieveit12 · 05/02/2021 23:33

The only time I don’t is when I’m half asleep in the night

BluebellCockleshell123 · 05/02/2021 23:33

I don’t wash my hands in the middle of the night. But I don’t flush then either so less chance of proper dirty germs as I don’t actually touch the loo at all with my hands.

Otherwise of course I wash every time!

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 05/02/2021 23:34

@SimonJT dunno then I'm just going by what the Dr told me. Although I've never understood how some people can happily wazz in a glass and chug it back like a fine wine or champagne Grin maybe stranded in a desert yes but even then I don't think I could somehow manage that one

PandoraP · 05/02/2021 23:34

I thought everyone washed their hands after going to the toilet. I wash my hands all the time as well as using hand sanitizer so didn’t have to change my habits for Covid.

mimi0708 · 05/02/2021 23:34

Yes I do it's basic hygiene. This thread has grossed me out can't believe other people don't wash their hands

Chloemol · 05/02/2021 23:35

Yuk to those who don’t wash their hands every single time they have been to the toilet

Yuk yuk yuk

Whodofthunk · 05/02/2021 23:35

I don't always after just a wee at home. But I will wash them before cooking or eating. I was brought up in a house where you didn't waste water flushing the toilet or washing your hands for a mere wee Wink

FlamedToACrisp · 05/02/2021 23:36

I always wash my hands afterwards, because I think it's disgusting not to.

TheDuchessOfBeddington · 05/02/2021 23:36

@HelloThereMeHearties

I do, yes. Why does being at home make it any less unhygienic?
Because nobodies in a communal sink area watching you 😂😂
Girlyracer · 05/02/2021 23:36

We all wash our hands after a wee. Basic hygiene.

Mingkong · 05/02/2021 23:38

I do not understand why people have to be told tomwash their hands , pandemic or not. Even if you just love with your family . What about transferring germs onto other parts of your house , then some touches the surfaces, then eats ? Pretty disgusting. And I have always made sure my kids wash their hands every time , and when they come home , even before Covid . The number of people I've seen in public loos who don't wash their hands is disgusting. I even picked up one woman on it in the Sainsbury's loos !!! Then she walked off to fondle the veg .

Mreggsworth · 05/02/2021 23:38

A very brisk splash under water and wipe with towel after wee, a soapy hand wash after poo.
