To think not everyone washes their hands after every single wee when in their own home?

Anything other than a wee, yes of course.

But washing hands after every bloody wee is overkill in my opinion

@MummyPigsKnickers

I don't wash my hands every time I have a wee. I'm perfectly healthy and have survived for 42 years. Obviously, if I had "piss all over over hands" I'd wash them. Luckily I seem to manage to not do this.
My thoughts exactly. The only time I have ever got piss all over my hands was when taking a pregnancy test and of course then, I would wash my hands. But otherwise no, because that doesn’t happen!
MyDcAreMarvel · 06/02/2021 23:58

Of course not I use paper to wipe, not my hand. Why would I need to wash them?

douliket · 07/02/2021 00:01

Op, you know that on mumsnet people like to be something they're not. I love how everybody washes their hands after every wee and I am here to tell you they don't. I actually find it more disgusting that people so freely lie about the smallest of things just because it's habit. I have worked as a cleaner in a very busy, well known financial service and I can tell you wholeheartedly that when someone thinks I am not in the bathrooms, about 50% do not wash their hands but as soon as I make some noise and they are aware of somebody outside,on goes the tap every time. I also worked for years in a nightclub and I can tell you that most women will come rushing out of cubicles, usually in 2's or 3's and touch up their makeup without a splash of water touching their hands. These posts amuse me,it's fascinating how people feel the need to lie to strangers anonymously, the mind boggles 🥴

Haha! This is so true - I spent most of my 20s in clubs and I hardly ever saw women coming out of club toilets after a wee and washing their hands

TheGoogleMum · 07/02/2021 00:07

Yabu. I always wash hands! Its basic hygiene! I say that as someone who controversially does not shower every day

LightsOff12 · 07/02/2021 00:10

Lid goes down
Hands get washed

Although it doesn’t surprise me there’s so many people that don’t. My own (and disowned) mother and brother sure as hell don’t but they’re not known for their hygiene tbh

Blimey!

I don't wash my hands at home after a wee. I tend to use toilet paper. 2 sheets folded up so I can dab. The 'residue' never, ever soaks through the wadding. Ever.

Number twos?

Yes, however 'clean', as in 'no residue on the paper', I wash my hands with soap.

Miljea · 07/02/2021 00:14

Most people who claim to 'wash their hands' -actually mean 'swish my fingertips briefly under a cold dribbling tap for 8 seconds'.

We need to establish what 'wash' means.

But if you handle the flush, toilet lid etc. then you're getting faecal bacteria on your hands in the process.

I have honestly never peed without washing my hands ever. I'm sure there are other people like me.
GADDay · 07/02/2021 00:18

The level of competitive mingingness on this thread is almost unbelievable.

Look at me, I am such a rebel. I dont believe in hand hygiene.... nah nah nah nah.

Are all you non washers 13 years old?

Disneyblue · 07/02/2021 00:18

Yes I do. For me it's an ingrained habit so I'd feel dirty not doing it every time. I see your point though

starray · 07/02/2021 00:19

Oh gross. I never realized that not everyone doesn't wash their hands after a wee. I wash thoroughly...and no, I don't "swish my fingertips briefly under a cold dribbling tap for 8 seconds. " I actually wash with soap! That's it. Never eating out at a restaurant again.

MaxNormal · 07/02/2021 00:20

So what do you all do if you need to piss al fresco?

Exhausteddog · 07/02/2021 00:20

I have honestly never peed without washing my hands ever. I'm sure there are other people like me.

I dont consider myself a hygeine freak at all but I always wash my hands after the toilet if water and soap are available. If I've had to do an emergency wee in the woods while out for a walk, obviously that's not possible but it would be the first thing I did when I got home!

MaxNormal · 07/02/2021 00:23

When we go hillwalking it can be eight or ten hours out and I don't have a very strong bladder so yes there's weeing happening with no handwashing, and subsequent food consumption.
Its never made me ill.

GADDay · 07/02/2021 00:25

Hand sanitiser?

ineedaholidaynow · 07/02/2021 00:26

We take hand sanitiser and wipes with us @MaxNormal if we are going on long hikes.

Galvantulang · 07/02/2021 00:26

Yabu. Every time at home. Why the fuck not? 😱🤮

MaxNormal · 07/02/2021 00:30

@ineedaholidaynow I know its just me but I'd be more upset about getting hand sanitiser on my food, I'm funny about stuff like that.

And I don't really care enough to bother if I'm being brutally honest online where its anonymous. If I do somehow get anything on me from my outdoor weeing and get it on my food I can't see what harm it would do me.

Boom.

The answer to the UKs covid crisis right here.

"I don't really care enough".....

ScatteredMama82 · 07/02/2021 00:41

I hope I don’t know any of you non-washers. The thought of you making me a cup of tea when you’ve been to the toilet and not washed your hands makes me feel sick. That’s disgusting!

MaxNormal · 07/02/2021 00:41

Oh don't be silly. Me not minding eating my own lunch on a hill in the middle of nowhere after a quick wee has given exactly zero people covid or anything else at all.

ScatteredMama82 · 07/02/2021 00:42

My children are more hygienic than most of you on here 🤮

BeautifulandWilfulandDead · 07/02/2021 00:47

I think that a clean wee in your own house doesn't need a hand wash. All your own germs!
