To think not everyone washes their hands after every single wee when in their own home?

Anything other than a wee, yes of course.

But washing hands after every bloody wee is overkill in my opinion

OP posts:
PlanDeRaccordement · 06/02/2021 19:58

Awful
You need to after every wee. Loo roll paper is very porous and bacteria do in fact transfer to your hands from your genital area. It is very unhygienic and why any restaurant worker who fails to wash hands after using the toilet is an automatic fail on food safety.

And to think you might go from having a wee to cutting up and apple and hand feeding a toddler. Yes it’s disgusting.

AliceinBunniland · 06/02/2021 20:41

You need to wash your hands.

Do you wash your hands after a number 2 or changing a tampon? Your OP suggests you do.

You also presumably touch the toilet flush after those things and possibly also the toilet lid BEFORE you wash your hands.

So even if we assumed your hands didn't need washing after "just" a wee (which I don't agree with) then you'd still potentially be exposing yourself to the other stuff any time you go to the loo.

DittyPL · 06/02/2021 20:44

The levels of lazyness and the excuses made for it are quite astounding! We have running water in our homes, usually a few steps from the toilet, why someone wouldn't bother is absolutely gross. I don't know why covid keeps getting brought up either, it's basic hygiene.

StanfordPines · 06/02/2021 20:44

The mistake you are using there @AliceinBunniland is logic. The non hand washers are using ‘but I don’t wanna’ which seems to be a valid reason.

Got it in one. That’s exactly my reason

I don’t wanna

Moneyfornothingkerbsforfree · 06/02/2021 21:03

And I don’t care less what you think about that.

merryhouse · 06/02/2021 21:04

Always have, always do.

HappyBluebird · 06/02/2021 21:05

I don't. Mostly but not always. My bits are clean. And my bathroom.

Terrylovesyogurt · 06/02/2021 21:05

I'm completely amazed by some of these answers.

Of course we all wash our hands every time we go to the toilet. It's beyond grim that anyone wouldn't. I am astounded by how many adults don't do this, there's no hope for your children. When my DCs were toddlers, even they automatically washed their hands after a wee.

I dread to think how many surfaces we touch after some of you guys. Definitely a reason to always wash hands before touching food /eating 🤮🤮

SandyRayH · 06/02/2021 21:10

Every time. Whatever the time of day. If holding baby, I do it one handed.

Anoisagusaris · 06/02/2021 21:11

I’m pretty skanky in many ways compared to many MNers but it would never occur to me not to wash my hands after the toilet. I’m cannot get over the number if you saying you don’t always do it.

Dinkydody · 06/02/2021 21:12

Yes, I’m a care assistant so just habit 😊

wanderings · 06/02/2021 21:15

I'm enjoying playing MN bingo with this thread.
"grim" count: 40.

"minging": 11.
"fucking": 17.
"gross": 64, although some of those are someone's name.
Surprisingly, the other MN favourite "crass" hasn't appeared. But "Fucking sons" is a new one. Mothers refer to their offspring as "fucking sons"?

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 06/02/2021 21:50

I admit I am a bit surprised. I wash my hands when I go to the loo, when I take my daughter to the loo, before I cook, before I eat and after I have walked or fed the dog. I'm not particularly fixated on being clean (this is a fairly dusty house for example) but wee isn't sterile and I don't really want even my own wee lurking round the house because I don't wash. That said, I wouldn't not go to someone's house because they didn't and I assume people do wash their hands before they serve food to guests, right? deliberately not starting a thread on that issue

GetOffYourHighHorse · 06/02/2021 22:40

'Surprisingly, the other MN favourite "crass" hasn't appeared'

Well crass isn't a word to describe poor personal hygiene is it Confused.

Annabell80 · 06/02/2021 22:42

I didn't assume people were pissing on their hands but toilet paper is not known to be water proof.
It takes minutes to wash your hands and is not exactly a difficult chore.

Yummymummy2020 · 06/02/2021 22:42

I always do it wouldn’t sit right with me not to, even if it’s the middle of the night.

Mapless · 06/02/2021 22:43

Yes every time.

Justgorgeous · 06/02/2021 22:48

Yes, every time.

strawberriesontheNeva · 06/02/2021 22:59

I'm really disgusted/ horrified that so many women admit to not washing their hands after weeing/ flushing the toilet. At least I hope they flush the toilet.

WhoWh0 · 06/02/2021 23:14

Do the non washers not put the lid down after going to the toilet?
Either they are touching the lid to open and close it - so should be washing their hands as it has germs on it, or they are leaving the lid up - in which case they are inhaling the bacteria and germs when they flush as well. Putrid....

BBS20 · 06/02/2021 23:23

Of course you would wash your bloody hands! And to think I was horrified that people don't wash their ass after a number 2.

Icenii · 06/02/2021 23:36

Hand washer but we dont flush at night, after a pee. There is no need. It is a waste of water. Although I guess appearing superior is more important than that.

MummyPigsKnickers · 06/02/2021 23:42

I don't wash my hands every time I have a wee. I'm perfectly healthy and have survived for 42 years.
Obviously, if I had "piss all over over hands" I'd wash them. Luckily I seem to manage to not do this.

TurquoiseDress · 06/02/2021 23:50

I do, it's an ingrained habit...also I can't bear the thought of having a wee & not washing my hands Blush

This is drummed into the DC too!
