To think not everyone washes their hands after every single wee when in their own home?

Anything other than a wee, yes of course.

But washing hands after every bloody wee is overkill in my opinion

Jaxhog · 06/02/2021 10:08

Yes, of course, I do.

I'm now grossed out at some of the answers.

Useranon20 · 06/02/2021 10:08

I can’t believe people who wash their hands after using the loo are being called fastidious.
I thought that was the normal thing to do.

Another of my bugbears are people who hold, stroke, hand feed, scratch their dog and don’t wash their hands afterwards. That’s gross too.

ramarama · 06/02/2021 10:09

Not surprised at this thread. I've seen loads of women over the years come out of cubicles in public loos and walk off without washing hands. Sometimes stopping to check their hair though Grin
Never understood how someone could do that when they knew others were watching.......

hopeishere · 06/02/2021 10:14

@StanfordPines

To the ‘urine is sterile’ people. Would you touch the inside of a urinal with your bare hands and then put your fingers in your mouth? The only thing that touches a urinal is wee after all.
I do not get wee on my hands when wiping.
SqeakyHindge · 06/02/2021 10:18

I use my handheld once leave public loos which usually train station.

It’s pointless washing hands as got to open that door to get out & no using sleeve of my top is just as grim.

Reading this thread further I’d like to say this is another reason why never ever buy from school cake sales. Never

SqeakyHindge · 06/02/2021 10:18

Handgel

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 06/02/2021 10:18

@Toorapid - how did Typhoid Mary, a cook who admitted to rarely washing her hands, spread typhoid to others? How is it, in your opinion, transmitted? Because the NHS website says it is spread through faeces and, less commonly, urine. You ought to get on to the NHS and tell them that their website is wrong.

Doyoumind · 06/02/2021 10:19

Always have washed my hands and always will. I would feel disgusting if I didn't. I'm not over the top on hygiene at all but when you wipe yourself and touch the handle to flush you're touching places that are covered in germs.

MiaMc · 06/02/2021 10:20

While we’re on the gross list, can I add people who think nothing of having a good root around in their ear then inspecting it before flicking it away somewhere.

I think this is on a par with or possibly worse than not washing hands after a wee

They wouldn’t pick their nose in front of anyone, so why do they think that exploring the contents of their ear is any more acceptable?

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 06/02/2021 10:23

@SqeakyHindge - why not wash your hands then use hand gel after opening the door? What an attitude to have. You're one of the people responsible for viruses and illnesses spreading. How revolting.

FreekStar · 06/02/2021 10:23

The idea that you can catch a disease from yourself is very odd.

Those who think they will be covered in germs because they did a wee have just been conditioned to believe this. Logic says you won't. When I go for a wee at home the only things I have touched were my own clothing and my own toilet paper and my loo flush. Quite what germs are going to be on them I don't know, I don't have any infections nor does DH who is the only other person touching the toilet.

I wash my hands in a public toilet because I have touched the door handle and possibly the toilet seat which have been touched by lots of others carrying unknown germs and infections on their hands. Not because I think I have my own germs on my hands.

AliceMcK · 06/02/2021 10:23

@PurpleDaisies

You need to see a doctor about bloody wee.
😂😂😂😂😂

BraxtonChic · 06/02/2021 10:25

Can't believe some people only wee 4 times a day Shock

My bladder must be worse than I thought, I average 10-12.

ineedaholidaynow · 06/02/2021 10:26

@FreekStar does that mean you never wash your hands after doing a poo too if you are at home

luckylavender · 06/02/2021 10:26

This thread is grossing me out

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 06/02/2021 10:28

No I dont. Not at home- I do when out and about.
For all those saying people that do this should have leprosy/the plague/ebola/ cholera -I'm ridiculously healthy actually. I havent had so much as a cold in the last 5 years. I think bleaching everything to within an inch of its life actually RUINS your immune system and studies have shown this too.

CounsellorTroi · 06/02/2021 10:28

I am absolutely Shock at some of the responses on this thread and I am not one of these people who think you stink if you don’t shower every day.

reprehensibleme · 06/02/2021 10:31

I'd have thought if the past year had taught us nothing else it should have taught us to wash our hands more frequently. For those saying they don't wash hands after a wee, does no-one in your family ever poo, or do they just not touch the loo flush after they've had a crap?

Whodofthunk · 06/02/2021 10:32

@lynsey91

I always do. I thought everyone did.

Anyway why say "every single wee" like most people are going 20 or more times a day? How many times does the average person wee a day? I go about 4 times so hardly excessive washing of hands is it? I do, obviously, wash my hands other times too

Easily every hour or so during the day. Definitely at least 10 times.
Mummadeze · 06/02/2021 10:33

Really sorry for winding people up with my answer. It was really insensitive but I was being honest about my attitude before Covid. Am a lot more aware about germ spreading now. I didn’t previously realise not washing my hands could harm others, I genuinely thought the only risk was to myself.

Chocolino · 06/02/2021 10:33

So you go to the loo, do a wee, wipe it with paper and then flush it and don't wash your hands? That's gross and really unhygienic.

How would you feel if you went round to a friends house, she was making you a coffee and putting hobnobs on a plate and she had just had a wee and not washed her hands?

I am really grossed out by this. It's scummy.

CakeRequired · 06/02/2021 10:35

There's no coronorvirus in wee

Oh dear lord... And people think that the majority of users on here are intelligent... 😂

No there isn't, but if it's on your hands already, and you don't wash them, what do you think happens with the virus sweetie? It spreads! It goes from one surface to another, and the more you touch, the more it spreads. If someone with covid has touched the toilet before you, and you don't wash your hands, it's then on your hands. Does that make it simpler for you?

IEat · 06/02/2021 10:38

why would you not wash your hands after even just a wee. That’s nasty

Puzzler333 · 06/02/2021 10:39

Anyone still thinking they shouldn't bother to take a few seconds to wash hands should study a tiny bit of history - look up Semmelweiz.

Doctor who compared childbirth deaths and infections between a ward where doctors washed hands and one where they didn't (obviously not recently). The differences were stark.

It may not be the wee itself that has put germs on your hands, but washing them regularly is required, so why not straight after a wee? You're next to the sink anyway...
