To think not everyone washes their hands after every single wee when in their own home?

Anything other than a wee, yes of course.

But washing hands after every bloody wee is overkill in my opinion

OP posts:
StanfordPines · 06/02/2021 08:51

There's no coronorvirus in wee

Perhaps not in wee but the viral load in poo is much higher than anything else. And people wipe after a poo and then touch the flush.
I still don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t wash their hands. What it is the difficulty?

pinkearedcow · 06/02/2021 08:52

This is why I never eat from finger buffets.

Bathbea · 06/02/2021 08:52

Why do you think your toilet flush is so germy if you wash your hands all the time?.

Because you touch it before washing your hands after taking a shit? Even if you don't get actual shit on your hands, which you would hope people don't, there are still germs.

Googlebrained · 06/02/2021 08:53

Ugh. I hope I've never been to your house. Yes I wash my hands every time.

Edel2019 · 06/02/2021 08:53

Yes I do.

You touch the toilet seat lid, at the very least....

Godimabitch · 06/02/2021 08:54

I dont wash my hands in the house much. If I touch the bins or am cooking then of course but not after every wee. But Blush we dont flush every wee either!

I wash my hands constantly while out though, I sterilise when I touch anything that anyone could have touched. What am I gonna catch in my own house?

StanfordPines · 06/02/2021 08:55

Why do you think your toilet flush is so germy if you wash your hands all the time?

Because you wee or poo, wipe, touch the flush then wash. Hands that possibly have wee or poo on them have then touched the flush.

pinkearedcow · 06/02/2021 08:56

@Bloominggoodvibes

Nope I rarely wash my hand at home if it’s only a wee. Probably the only time I wash after wee is if I I have guests over (pre-COVID-19 of course!). I wouldn’t want them to not hear the tap running after the flush and think I was gross!
So you KNOW it's gross not to but you still don't.

Your poor guests, if only they kniew.

Trinacham · 06/02/2021 08:56

@Edel2019

Yes I do.

You touch the toilet seat lid, at the very least....

only if you close it.
Januaryissodull · 06/02/2021 08:57

Yes I do and you should as well. I would never normally use the lazy card, but not washing your hands is sheer laziness.

I'll tell you what is disgusting. There will be germs on the toilet, so n the toilet roll, even if you can't see them. You are touching these things then going around touching other things in your house.

You 'could' make somebody sick.

Surely Covid has made you aware that you cannot see germs and viruses?

ineedaholidaynow · 06/02/2021 08:57

Why wouldn’t you close the toilet lid?

StarlightLady · 06/02/2021 08:57

In answer to the other points in the thread:

Yes, l give blowies, but l expect a penis to have been clean and washed;

No, I don’t think you can catch Covid from wee, but if you wash your hands each time you go to the loo, it increases hand washing;

Yes, l think it’s important to demonstrate hand washing to children;

As others have said, locks handles, taps, flushes, lightswitches are all touched.

To conclude, no loo paper is 100% waterproof. There can be seepage when you wipe.

It’s simple! Wash your hands!

CaraDuneRedux · 06/02/2021 08:57

Wash every time. Even middle of the night. It's a complete reflex.

Can't be arsed to RTFT, but I presume someone (possibly several people) have trotted out that tired old urban myth that urine is sterile. It isn't.

Kintsugi16 · 06/02/2021 08:58

I don’t touch the seat or flush at night.

All you touching the flush worriers, how about the tap? You touch that to turn on and off.

Trinacham · 06/02/2021 08:58

@ineedaholidaynow

Why wouldn’t you close the toilet lid?
Not everyone flushes after a wee. Oh no, I've started a new debate.
pinkearedcow · 06/02/2021 08:58

What am I gonna catch in my own house?

Unless you live alone - coughs, colds, flu, covid, norovirus etc. from the other people in the house?

Toorapid · 06/02/2021 08:59

I can tell you that your husbands and sons never wash their hands outside the home when you don't have control.

I work in school and my role, among other things, involves buying soap. Don't need to bother for the male toilets, they have magic soap that lasts forever Grin

Kintsugi16 · 06/02/2021 09:00

...... en-suite. Just used by me and DH.

LegoPirateMonkey · 06/02/2021 09:01

You should close the lid before you flush! That’s another really basic part of hygiene. Our toilet lids are always closed when not being used. I know I said I’d hide this thread but I’m drawn back like a horror movie...

StanfordPines · 06/02/2021 09:02

I can tell you that your husbands and sons never wash their hands outside the home when you don't have control.

What utter sexist nonsense. My husband is a fully grown adult and as such doesn’t need me to tell him to wash his hands. Perhaps your husband and sons behave that way but that is not indicative of all men.

LegoPirateMonkey · 06/02/2021 09:03

@Trinacham so people would not flush AND leave the lid up - so anyone going into the bathroom or walking past if the door is open gets an eyeful of stale wee and toilet paper?????

pinkearedcow · 06/02/2021 09:03

@Kintsugi16

I don’t touch the seat or flush at night.

All you touching the flush worriers, how about the tap? You touch that to turn on and off.

I pull my sleeve over my hand to turn the tap off. Or I splash the tap with soapy water before I turn it off.
MadamMaltesers · 06/02/2021 09:03

I have to after each wee regardless of where I am. Not washing your hands after going is grim.

LegoPirateMonkey · 06/02/2021 09:05

@Toorapid my husband works in healthcare, has regular hand washing training and is just as rigorous as me. It was him instilling it into our sons, who are both diligent hand washers too. How absurd to say that men and boys don’t wash hands. Maybe the ones you know!

Trinacham · 06/02/2021 09:06

Yes?
Have you never been into a public toilet?
