To think not everyone washes their hands after every single wee when in their own home?

Anything other than a wee, yes of course.

But washing hands after every bloody wee is overkill in my opinion

WaterOffADucksCrack · 06/02/2021 08:24

Every time for me, including the 2 renditions of happy birthday. But it was drilled into us as children and I work in care and it gets drilled into you there too. Saying "there's bacteria everywhere anyway" shouldn't be an excuse.

Enterthedragons · 06/02/2021 08:25

So you’ll go for a wee, wipe yourself, touch the toilet flush then go and use those same unwashed hands to prepare food?

Sorry but that is absolutely vile. I would not visit your house if I was your friend and I knew this. It’s basic hygiene.

SavageBeauty73 · 06/02/2021 08:27

I do. I thought everyone did.

merrymouse · 06/02/2021 08:27

I wash my hands all the bloody time thank you

But not when you happen to be in a room with running water and soap because it’s too much bother?

Using unwashed hands to prepare food is vile at any time in my opinion
Sceptre86 · 06/02/2021 08:30

Yes I do an have taught my kids to do so as well. Your hygiene is lax.

Really shocked that not everyone does wash their hands. Decades ago at school we were told that germs can spread through toilet paper. Why would you not? It takes seconds.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 06/02/2021 08:34

ALWAYS wash my hands, even in the middle of the night.

All the things you must touch without them being washed, even if you wash them before cooking did you wash them before you put the juice away earlier that you are now getting out again, before using the tea towel you are using, before you put the dishes away earlier etc?

I don't have to think when I'm just putting dishes away, grabbing a drink etc because I know my hands are clean. I still wash them again before cooking just to make sure but unless they get dirty that's the only time I really need to wash them (shielding so don't leave the house) because they are clean especially with how often I need a wee!

For those mentioning dry hands, using moisturiser etc - I have carex one side of the sink and Dermol hand wash on the other, I use the Carex first and then the Dermol, probably washing for about half of the recommended time with each

Dermol is great for moisturising, cracked skin, itchy skin etc. You can buy it online, sometimes on amazon otherwise chemist websites sell it, it comes in cream, shower, bath, and hand wash

So there is no excuse for it drying your hands out

Fridget · 06/02/2021 08:34

And this is how a virus has spread so quickly. Because people are disgusting

It’s very unhygienic I agree but it’s not really why a very infectious airborne virus like covid has spread.

TillyTopper · 06/02/2021 08:35

Yes I do, I think it's a bit disgusting not to.

Cowmilk · 06/02/2021 08:36

I do but I don’t sing happy birthday while washing my hands. I wash them like I always have. I did time myself once at the beginning of the pandemic and I passed. Dc needed to sing happy birthday.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 06/02/2021 08:37

not always - glad to hear I'm not the only one
And I live on my own, so no one else encountering germs from it

And often a quick rinse, rather than a full two minute "happy birthday" wash

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 06/02/2021 08:40

I think IRL the not believing that hand washing should be done after every loo visit people are in the minority. It looks amplified here because minging people are keen to believe they’re not alone so try and make out their ways are perfectly normal and that being hygienic is abnormal. You see it on the showing threads where it looks like 70% of people only shower twice a week.

Most people, even if they don’t do it every single time, are aware that it’s unhygienic to not wash your hands everytime you go to the loo.

Trinacham · 06/02/2021 08:41

At night, I don't.

merrymouse · 06/02/2021 08:41

@MyOtherProfile

And the point of this is not that every single person using the loo will be spreading harmful germs, but that very unpleasant germs can be spread this way, and it’s better if people have a habit of washing their hands.
SmallPrawnEnergy · 06/02/2021 08:41

Everytime the loo flushes, germs are propelled upto 2 metres, so all over you, the loo seat, flush etc.
Well by your own admission you are COVERED in shit so maybe you should be stripping cleaning and scrubbing head to toe after every toilet flush. Those germs are in your clothes, in your hair, on your face, they don’t magically go away with a wash of your hands.
You filthy unwashed are revoltingly dirty people
WASH YOIR HANDS

Mmm pooy particles in your hair after every flush, you’re just as filthy Grin

Jessica60 · 06/02/2021 08:41

Of course I wash my hands after using the toilet. Always.

IMissFrance · 06/02/2021 08:42

I don't for most wees at home. Unless DC are looking or I'm about to make food/drink.

I daily clean my loo handle. Only touching the paper.

My at home hand cleaning is generally less toilet based (unless of course after a poo/if I have my period) and more for the following reasons:

-just got in

  • just opening a delivery/post
  • about to cook/serve food
  • just done the cats food
  • just cleaned the bathroom
  • cleaned the litter tray
  • put the laundry on

Etc etc.

Touching toilet paper isn't high on my agenda.

In a public loo it's touching the locks and doors that make me want to wash my hands. Not the act of going to the loo.

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 06/02/2021 08:42

To the filthy ones who decide they don't need to wash after a wee as their hands will still be clean, I have a question.
Would you go into your bathroom and lick the light pull and and the toilet flush? If not, why not?

redsquirrelfan · 06/02/2021 08:46

No, if I was going to prepare food I would wash my hands.

Why do you think your toilet flush is so germy if you wash your hands all the time?

Everytime the loo flushes, germs are propelled upto 2 metres, so all over you, the loo seat, flush etc The easy solution to this is to put the seat down.

PotholeParadies · 06/02/2021 08:47

@merrymouse

Grin

Quite.

If you CBA to wash your hands when you're already next to a basin, how can we believe you're washing your hands the rest of the time when it requires far more effort?

Toorapid · 06/02/2021 08:49

It's been shown over and over that most people's kitchens are way more germ laden than their loos.

Of course hands should be washed but there's no need for this hysteria.

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 06/02/2021 08:51

Why do you think your toilet flush is so germy if you wash your hands all the time?

Is this a genuine question? Do you honestly not understand that after wiping faeces away, some bacteria will be transferred onto hands, inevitably. You then flush the toilet. Do you not comprehend how some bacteria could be transferred from anus to hand to flush? Jesus wept. Not even a child's basic understanding of how bacteria can spread. I am actually shocked by this.

user1471538283 · 06/02/2021 08:51

I do. Every time.
