I’m getting fed up of this now! What have you booked and are you expecting to go?

We are considering a holiday rental but don’t want to get our hopes up. Also don’t particularly want to be on a mobbed beach if we have a hot summer!

None, don’t see the point TBH. I think you just need to make peace with it. Right now a foreign holiday is unlikely to be a good idea in the summer and suspect some form of travel restrictions will apply (statistically, few people who were supposed to quarantine after returning from holiday did last time. There is likely to be tougher restrictions in place this time due to risk of new strains).

If I’m honest, i think restriction will lift slowly and travel out with the UK will be one of the things to change. ANd probably correctly. You don’t need a foreign holiday, it’s a nice thing and not a necessity. We all just need to be patient a little longer.

We live in France and have booked a house in Honfleur for Feb half term and a villa in the Dordogne for August. I would quite happily take all my holidays in France (there’s not much you can’t do here though ski resorts are shut at the moment), but what I’m really looking forward to is being allowed back into the UK to visit my mum. Won’t be booking anything until we get the all clear to do so though.

speakout · 06/02/2021 09:47

I am off to a two week yoga retreat in Costa Rica in March.

We can dream.

Angel2702 · 06/02/2021 09:47

We’ve got a holiday on Dorset booked, we booked it last summer. I am expecting it to go ahead, it went ahead last summer.

thecatsabsentcojones · 06/02/2021 09:49

Booked a cottage in Dorset for the first week of the summer holidays. They are going super quick though, couldn’t really get what we wanted, so book soon if you want to go.

1stTimeMama · 06/02/2021 09:50

None. We've not been away since 2018.

Peasbewithyou · 06/02/2021 09:50

I’m doing rather a lot of fantasy holiday planning at the moment! Grin

In reality we have 1 week in self catered cottage in Dorset and 1 week in Devon caravan park both booked for August. I am reasonably hopeful that we will be able to go but did look at cancellation policies before booking.

Also hoping for a weekend away in the autumn for DH and I 10 year wedding anniversary. We had originally been planning to go to France but I suspect if we do anything now it will be in the UK.

I am, however, planning 2 huge trips to Florida and California for in 2 / 3 / 4 years’ time. I won’t book anything until we know what’s going on with COVID but I am enjoying the planning phase (and totally ignoring how much either will likely cost! Grin)

@WithinAForestDark

I really want to book my holiday but I just can't bring myself to until I know there's going to be a point to getting excited. Also concerned about things being half-mast, so to speak, when there. It just wouldn't be the same would it?
This is me exactly.

I have w
Even found a hotel i want to go to. I am looking at the end of August

CounsellorTroi · 06/02/2021 09:53

We’ve got a cottage booked in Scotland in June and one in North Wales for September. Worried about the one in June in case I get called for vaccination at that time.

catgirl1976 · 06/02/2021 09:54

None because I think the chances of being able to go anywhere safely and responsibly this year are quite low. Also we’ve lost a lot of income due to Covid so it’s not a priority this year. If things go really well maybe I can envisage a little UK break in the autumn but that’s my most optimistic thinking.

aModernClassic · 06/02/2021 09:59

Tenerife end of March. DH thinks it will be fine, I don't. So hoping it gets cancelled - although flights and hotel were booked separately, so we'll have to see what happens.

HerLadySheep · 06/02/2021 10:03

We've booked a cottage in Cornwall for August so we've something to look forward to, our holiday to France which was rescheduled from last year has already been cancelled by the gite owners. We decided not try booking anything else abroad this year, it's too stressful changing and cancelling plans, I'm confident we will be able to go to Cornwall.

CheltenhamLady · 06/02/2021 10:11

Greece in May, cruise in August. Both re booked from last year.

Yerroblemom1923 · 06/02/2021 10:15

None. Not going anywhere, not booked to go anywhere. There's just no point. Everytime we plan something Covid cancels it so I've given up.

Yerroblemom1923 · 06/02/2021 10:17

I don't even see why there are holiday adverts on tv at the moment! This year will be just like last. It just sets people up for disappointment.

Whatafustercluck · 06/02/2021 10:21

We've booked the Dordogne for August - we booked it back in July, thinking the worst would be over by then. Given the slow pace/ vaccine availability issues over there we are realistic and will roll forward to 2022 if necessary. I'd be happy with days out and visiting friends and family in the UK if it comes to it - our economy will need it after all. I just want to see family again.

DwarfQuasar · 06/02/2021 10:22

Nothing booked, we normally arrange transport and accommodation separately and that feels a bit risky at the moment.

I'm hoping we might be able to drive to Denmark to see family, although that will involve transiting a few different countries and need to look into Brexit related changes too.

hobag82 · 06/02/2021 10:22

I had Lisbon booked for March and Seville booked for May both moved forward from similar periods in 2020 and both just been cancelled by the airline. I am not pre booking anything else as they have given refunds/vouchers and I will now wait until the last minute before any annual leave to see what the situation is

Twixmasdilema · 06/02/2021 10:23

Decided last week that we didn't want the uncertainty and hassle of a foreign holiday so booked a UK cottage for August while still availability and before the prices shoot up. Did the same last year and it was a nice break.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/02/2021 10:25

I booked my regular Lourdes pilgrimage last year, which was postponed not cancelled. So they are still hoping it goes ahead. I wish they'd just cancelled out right.

Polkadotties · 06/02/2021 10:28

Due to go to Rome in June, was moved from last July.
I really hope by then we will be able to go

GabsAlot · 06/02/2021 10:31

none yet-friends holiday to spain in august already got cancelled

Abraxan · 06/02/2021 10:31

Not actually booked anything as such, though have a moved holiday from last year for May half term. That's a NC500 trips round the Highlands. I, not convinced it'll happen again though - ,Ishtar have to see where else Logan Air fly to and move the dates til, later again.

Dh and I are considering getting something booked for the summer within England, but in a refundable basis. Then if we can travel in holiday abroad we could cancel and book somewhere warmer and further afield. But concerned that only English (maybe uk) will be allowed - and then if we left it too late everything would be booked up. Looking in booking.com for the summer an awful lot is already unavailable,

usernamenotavailible · 06/02/2021 10:31

My big holiday this year is Greece in July. Hoping that we’re able to go, but I’m prepared for it to be cancelled as they might only allow vaccinated people even if it does go ahead. Also have a weekend without the kids in Cornwall booked for May, DH and I should’ve had the vaccine by then so hopefully that can go ahead.

Abraxan · 06/02/2021 10:31

We may look at booking something further afield, maybe long haul, for October half term - but again only if we can get refundable or moveable.
