I’m getting fed up of this now! What have you booked and are you expecting to go?

We are considering a holiday rental but don’t want to get our hopes up. Also don’t particularly want to be on a mobbed beach if we have a hot summer!

Also eyeing up a cottage in Wales for May half term, but the website basically says book at your own peril and we'd be using vouchers so probably going to have to leave it for now.

IndecentFeminist · 06/02/2021 08:28

Nothing. Not just covid related, husband's work is a challenge.

But we live on Isle of Wight, so have lovely 'staycations' anyway

Brighterthansunflowers · 06/02/2021 08:47

I have a short break in a uk city booked that was rescheduled from last year (booked prepandemic originally). I can cancel the hotel free of charge anytime until a few days before I go, so not worried from a financial POV. I won’t book train tickets until much nearer the time.

It’s the end of the year so may still be able to go but not really counting on it.

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 06/02/2021 08:55

I've booked a week in the Isle of Wight at the end of July. Let's see how the next few weeks and months pan out.
I'd like to take the kids to Scotland last week of August too but not booking anything yet.
Can't see me going overseas this year - fingers crossed for 2022!

Lockdownlumpy · 06/02/2021 08:56

Nothing.
We had a French campsite booked but have cancelled because if we are a allowed abroad this summer it will be going to see inlaws, by then the kids won't have seen their grandparents for more than a year.
But tbh I don't think it's likely that EU countries will drop quarantine requirements for UK visitors this year, unless we get our case rate to almost zero and most of the adult population vaccinates before summer.

LaVitaPuoEsserePiuBella · 06/02/2021 08:58

Rebooked flights to Rome in May half term....no idea if we will be re-rebooking, but we're desperate to visit my DSis...

Baileyscoffeeandcampfires · 06/02/2021 09:01

Nothing but have my eye on a Norwegian fjords cruise in July and about 20 Airbnb places bookmarked for when Dh has annual leave in the summer .

If nothing else dd and I will go camping midweek in the new Forrest

rookiemere · 06/02/2021 09:02

Booked optimistic flights to Lisbon in May when DS 14 meant to be away on outward bound course - doubt either of those are happening but can just move flights on (Easyjet).
Rescheduled trip to Majorca from last year in Summer, but have Scottish back up plan and again can move on.

Family holiday in Lake District last week of June - really hope this can happen as rescheduled twice already, but worry that there are too many of us in one house - 12 - to make it feasible.

Booked a couple of cancellable cottages for Easter and May half term, think May one might be ok.

julesover40 · 06/02/2021 09:03

We have a weekend in haven booked for Easter, looking unlikely but can be refunded or rearranged if needed.
Als8 booked a week in late july to a holiday cottage in Devon, again fully transferable.
Hoping for a change from my own four walls. X

Christmasfairy2020 · 06/02/2021 09:13

Turkey in August

lovelemoncurd · 06/02/2021 09:16

Holiday to Egypt booked for August. I don't see why it wouldn't happen once cases are super low life is going to resume. There will be too much pressure from business for it not to!

JaquelineBeanstalk · 06/02/2021 09:17

Nothing booked, and unlikely to consider flying abroad. There’s plenty of places to visit accessible by car ( I’m in Ireland), so if it’s permissible we will do a few short breaks later in the year.

Mummadeze · 06/02/2021 09:19

Am waiting until April to get a better idea of what might be possible. I will go somewhere in the Summer however, no matter what! Even if it is getting a hotel in another part of where I live!

Ohanami · 06/02/2021 09:24

A week in the UK in August. I'm pretty confident about being able to travel there, but we've booked a house with parents and siblings so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll be allowed to sleep under the same roof.

PurpleFlower1983 · 06/02/2021 09:28

Tenerife at Easter that will obviously be moved, Centerparcs in November. We may book something last minute in October if things are looking up.

Averyhungrycaterpillar · 06/02/2021 09:32

We've booked a cottage in Norfolk for the June half term. Through booking.com so last minute cancellation is available if it can't go ahead. Staying hopeful though!

Heyahun · 06/02/2021 09:33

Meant to be going to Japan in September- we were originally meant to go last April! We will go of it’s allowed - but looking unlikely at the moment isn’t it! We will just reschedule again if we have to!

Tbh at the moment I’m just hoping travel between the U.K. and Ireland is possible - I’m about to have a new baby and desperately want to see my parents and let them meet the baby!

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 06/02/2021 09:34

NYC with a friend in July but honestly I'm not hopeful.

Then Scotland with the kids

cheeseismydownfall · 06/02/2021 09:38

Glamping in Wales end of July
Cottage in England (Coast) mid August
City break in Belgium October half term via Euro Tunnel

All fully refundable if we can't go due to covid. Can't wait.

Am genuinely baffled about why anyone would not plan for these kind of trips if they are in a financial position to do so. We had a couple of great UK holidays last summer - yes, it is a shame not to be able to go abroad, but doing absolutely nothing because you can't do exactly what you want seems such a waste.

Obviously totally different if affordability is the limiting factor.

Chuckleknuckles · 06/02/2021 09:38

I have Dubai booked for October half term because that’s one we do every year. Normally we’d try and ski at Feb half term and go somewhere like Greece in the summer; obviously skiing at half term is out and I’m not booking anything for the summer until I know I won’t have to quarantine for ten days in some awful hotel for ten days on the way back. It just wouldn’t be worth it, which is probably the governments aim. I do have a girls weekend in Ibiza booked for June but hotel only and it can be cancelled up to 24 hours before with full refund. No flights booked.
I hate not having holidays booked, feel like there’s nothing to look forward to. Can’t bring myself to book something in the UK as we’ve never done holidays in the UK and if the locals don’t want us there, which I understand, I hardly see the point.

Theforest · 06/02/2021 09:40

Definitely won't go abroad this year. Hoping to go away in the summer in UK Would prefer to get vaccinated first but being 49 just missing out and not sure when it will be

PurpleFlower1983 · 06/02/2021 09:40

Oh we also have a week camping in May which I think will go ahead.

FangsForTheMemory · 06/02/2021 09:43

Nothing at all. However I recently moved to a part of the UK where many people spend holidays so that helps.

quarentini · 06/02/2021 09:44

Nothing.
We will go last minute Scotland in October and are planning on a few city breaks the following year

GameSetMatch · 06/02/2021 09:45

We cancelled centre parcs last summer and rebooked for this August. I have also booked a night at Alton towers and a treat for the kids in July. I’m hoping by July everything will be ok. I won’t be booking an abroad holiday until I know everything is ok, don’t want to end up cooped up in a hotel for a fortnight because nothing is open.
