Just wondered what people's thoughts were following the allegations.
I do think it's awful he's effectively been sacked from all employment before having been found guilty of any allegations.

OP posts:
TakeTheCuntOutOfScunthorpe · 04/02/2021 09:29

Either he's guilty and his record company are a disgrace for not having dropped him before, or he's innocent and his record company are a disgrace for dropping him because of false allegations. End of.

My1yro · 04/02/2021 09:35

I didn't know anything about this until I read this thread and looked it up, wow.

OP I don't know why you're surprised. The bloke is fucked in the head. Those poor women.

MorrisZapp · 04/02/2021 09:38

Ozzy Osborne tried to kill his wife Sharon. It's well documented. They were both violent to each other for years, he punched her two front teeth out. They've both spoken openly about all this.

ConstantlySeekingHappiness · 04/02/2021 10:13

Let's also be clear: (Some of the) people around this tosser are not just scarpering because they fear being caught up in a scandal. They are scarpering because he is no longer making the big bucks for them anymore. If he was, they'd be working like dogs to cover this up again. This is important, because it makes it clear that cover ups will be happening right now, for other people

I agree. And JD springs to mind. He’s still incredibly ‘bankable’ so his team will go to extreme lengths to attempt to clear his name.

It’s disgraceful that so many people clearly knew and did nothing.

I also anticipate many many other ‘stars’ being exposed in the years to come. It’s great that more women have the confidence of being supported to be able to come out and speak now.

PeggyHill · 04/02/2021 10:16

@TheMoth

You stay in the relationship because you forget what normal is. Look at the relationship boards on here. Not only that, I suspect many of us have experiences of being with much older men at a young age and kind of being star struck in a kind of:"wow, he's interested in me! And I'm so young. " well, duh.

It pisses me off that he basically wasn't acting. As a teenage goth, we spent a lot of time trying to convince people that we weren't all freaks- and there he is.

This resonates with me. I remember that feeling. I'm desperately hoping that my DD's never fall into that trap. It's far too common.
TastyTicklemore · 04/02/2021 10:24

@ConstantlySeekingHappiness

I agree. I find it disappointing because JD was one of my teenage crushes/heroes but it has been clear for some time that he is also a deeply unpleasant person - his long standing friendship with MM just seals the bloody deal.

PlinkPlink · 04/02/2021 10:37

I loved MM's music. Still like a few.

Read autobiography and it was disturbing. So when this came out, I wasn't surprised.

Particularly disturbing is his track 'Baboon Rape Party'... yes, its an actual track.

CSIblonde · 04/02/2021 10:51

@Beebityboo, I'm not saying he's not done what he's acused of. I'm saying I thought they were a total mismatch. Elegant & sorted v messed up & weird . I'd read that it was his drinking that ended it, didn't known there an incident.

AIMD · 04/02/2021 11:05

@2020in2020

I found Dita’s statement problematic.

She didn’t say she believed the victims who had spoken out. She implied if he had behaved in that way she “wouldn’t have married him”. She spoke in general terms about people who had “incurred” - disgusting word - abuse to “heal and fully realise yourself” which to me is saying if you were abused you have to think why.

All in all, it smacks of indirect victim blaming. Compared to Rose McGowan it’s absolute bullshit.

Obviously, my fury lies with Brian Warner but I was disappointed in her response.

Yes I agree with this.
Luke423 · 04/02/2021 11:19

Perhaps this is on a different level but I've aways wondered why John Lenton is so venerated. Yes, he was immensely talented but was also a deadbeat dad and openly admitted to domestic violence in at least on song.

Luke423 · 04/02/2021 11:20

*Lennon, ffs. Fucking autocorrect. What the hell is a "Lenton" anyway?

unmarkedbythat · 04/02/2021 11:28

Trent Reznor is a disgusting hypocrite.

UselessYoke · 04/02/2021 11:29

I could never understand why people liked this guy? He has always been open in his contempt for women and his disturbed view of the world. Pathetic that this is seen as 'cool and edgy'.

Not surprised one bit that this is all coming out now and hope he is held accountable for years of abusing women.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 04/02/2021 11:29

DVT is in a very difficult position. There isn’t really very much that she can say and it’s a shame that she’s felt obliged to make a statement. If you don’t have the personal experience of abuse in your own relationship it can be hard to reconcile that the person you loved could be that monster to another.

VapeVamp12 · 04/02/2021 11:31

I was just reading the Wikipedia page on Marilyn Manson, I've never been a fan I think I was scared of his look when I was a kid.

One of his tours was called "Rape of the World".

Duckberg · 04/02/2021 11:41

There are a few weird rape apologists on this thread.

PlinkPlink · 04/02/2021 11:49

@unmarkedbythat why do you say that? He cut ties with Manson over 20 years ago 🤔 if a survivor came out and accused TR of something that would be different but it was MM who put something about it in his biography... not exactly the most reliable source of information...

DynamoKev · 04/02/2021 11:51

@Lychee234

The poor lamb, will he have to claim the dole?
unmarkedbythat · 04/02/2021 11:59

There are many, many sources other than MM for the things that TR used to be up to

Hellothere19999 · 04/02/2021 12:03

Personally, I’m not entirely surprised but I do feel the abuse Armie Hammer appears to be guilty of is far worse and getting a lot less coverage. It’s almost like the demonising of Marilyn is a distraction so the Armie hammer stuff can quietly be forgotten because he is rich, blonde and handsome. Even tho he did rape women and try to force young girls to do things they weren’t comfortable with.

Galena92 · 04/02/2021 12:05

I am also a little perplexed by the Reznor comment. He has had a long standing fued with MM. I suppose it's possible he could be a wanker too. If so this is the first I've heard of it (not that that means much).

One interesting, strangely related fact about Reznor-he was the last person to rent the Polanski/Tate house (scene of Manson murders) before they did a huge renovation. I believe he wrote their first successful album while staying there. I guess it was a pretty creepy experience for him.

Pinkywoo · 04/02/2021 12:10

@thegreenlight

Pinkywoo cheating isn’t quite the same thing as MM is being accused of. ‘Ozzy Osbourne ate my hamster’ could have been much worse if he had been like his stage persona.
Oh no I realise that, not in the same league. I just wouldn't call a serial cheater a family man.
lioncitygirl · 04/02/2021 12:11

He’s absolutely bat shit crazy. The whole ‘all a persona for music’ is totally fake and he’s been known to boast about abuse in interviews - back then, no one did a thing - they all thought he was ‘cool and edgy’

Galena92 · 04/02/2021 12:12

Actually, Reznor was the last person to live in the original house, before they completely tore it down. He kept the front door. MM recorded there as well. Here's what TR said about the experience:
He made a statement about working in the Tate house during a 1997 interview with Rolling Stone:

While I was working on Downward Spiral, I was living in the house where Sharon Tate was killed. Then one day I met her sister. It was a random thing, just a brief encounter. And she said: "Are you exploiting my sister's death by living in her house?" For the first time the whole thing kind of slapped me in the face. I said, "No, it's just sort of my own interest in American folklore. I'm in this place where a weird part of history occurred." I guess it never really struck me before, but it did then. She lost her sister from a senseless, ignorant situation that I don't want to support. When she was talking to me, I realized for the first time, "What if it was my sister?" I thought, "Fuck Charlie Manson. I don't want to be looked at as a guy who supports serial-killer bullshit." I went home and cried that night. It made me see there's another side to things, you know? It's one thing to go around with your dick swinging in the wind, acting like it doesn't matter. But when you understand the repercussions that are felt ... that's what sobered me up: realizing that what balances out the appeal of the lawlessness and the lack of morality and that whole thing is the other end of it, the victims who don't deserve that.[15]

Saucery · 04/02/2021 12:14

Armie Hammer can still make money for some people, so those people will be doing their damnedest to bury or downplay the accusations against him.
Brian is all washed up, his star has been fading over the years and so there are few people willing to excuse him.

I read his autobiography and didn’t feel it was fictional. His grandfather’s porn collection and the sexual assault of female fans rang true to me.
The video for No Reflection is very telling (and no, I’m not recommending anyone watches it). A seance, some young women, unfortunate poisonings, drownings, BW as himself and also as the self-pitying Baby Jane character he adopts......I thought yeah, that’s how you see yourself, mate. Stylistically very impressive (I love a good Seance) but the contempt for the young women shines through.

I liked him. Even fancied him back in the day. But he’s a sad and twisted fucker who made no secret of the fact.
