Would you have reported?
I'm not a fan of reporting for reporting sake so this has shocked me.
Just what outcome was expected by sending footage to his bosses?

YABU = he deserves to lose his job.
YANBU = it's batshit he kicked a snowman.

Soz if there has been a thread already.

The GoFundMe should be for his girlfriend, that temper and a baby don’t bode well.

Yep!
AKissAndASmile · 31/01/2021 21:31

How is this thread still going?

Wish somebody would call the guy a wah-mbulance

Emmelina · 01/02/2021 00:32

We don’t know his history of conduct. Though kicking a snowman apart may seem a petty thing to discipline for, he could have been on a last warning to behave himself in uniform or he’s out.

Yes we do. He's a violent thug who attacked several police officers. And who was abusive and threatening to his boss on at least one occasion.
ALongHardWinter · 01/02/2021 01:19

A bit petty admittedly, but losing his job over it?! Good grief. It's this sort of thing that teaches kids that if someone does something, anything,to upset them, then heads will roll. Pathetic imo.

Bloodypunkrockers · 01/02/2021 01:35

Do people not read threads anymore🤷‍♀️

DuaneAgain · 01/02/2021 03:34

@HmmSureJan

YANBU.

It was a silly thing he did but does he deserve to lose the ability to provide for himself and his family? Of course not!

This.
Hardcoresoftie · 01/02/2021 03:45

He shouldn't lose his job no. But I think he was a temporary contractor?
However I remember building a snowman as a primary school kid after watching The Snowman and genuinely believed my new creation might fly me to the North Pole and was my new best friend.
The next morning someone, drunks after the pub probably, had kicked it to pieces. I cried like my heart would break and thought Mr Snowman had suffered from his beating.
Kids can be sweet and sensitive and its was sick thing to do to destroy their handiwork and potentially upset them. You wouldnt rip a child soft toy or crayon picture up whilst on the job as a public facing employee.
A quick visit to the child with a sorry for killing your show friend would do.

DuaneAgain · 01/02/2021 03:49

I had a woman flip me off the other day after I pipped the horn due to her cutting me up - she almost missed her turning and changed lane erratically. I saw which company she turned into and was fairly sure it was a fleet car. At no point did I consider reporting her and trying to get her sacked.

TriflePudding · 01/02/2021 08:44

I can’t get my head around why some of you think that the child needs to learn resilience but the man in question doesn’t - what is that all about ??

HettieMillia · 01/02/2021 08:46

People's logic is seriously twisted these days.

And the Council agreed. They told him to apologise. He refused, started swearing at his managers and had to be escorted from the premises by the police. That is why the agency would told not to send him back. Perhaps people could actually check out the whole story??? It has been peppered across this thread enough times.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 01/02/2021 08:50

@SittingAround1

Give him his job back. He was just letting off steam on an inanimate object.
That a small child had just made.

It's scary that he's about to become a father himself

He was given the opportunity to apologise & chose not to.

I wouldn't have him working for me.

That’s nice for you but totally irrelevant Try reading the thread properly This man wasn’t sacked, he wasn’t employed in the first place. The agency was asked not to send him again This was after he was reprimanded by his Supervisor for the incident and asked to apologise. He then became so aggressive the Police were called. The family didn’t actually report it either, the footage was shared on FB Nothing at all like your non incident

Yup. A 3yo has to learn to put up with adults sabotaging what he's made but a grown man can't be expected to cope with being told off by his manager.

corythatwas · 01/02/2021 09:00

Actually I'm not surprised at all. MN is full of posters pussy-footing around the feelings of adult men. The general consensus about children otoh seems to be that they need toughening up.

And yes, I know he was only 19. Similar age to my son. Who expects to have to be polite around the general public and listen to his manager if he wants to keep his job.

Was he also just ‘letting off steam’ when the police were called remove him from the building after he became verbally abusive towards his managers?

He didn't lose his job for this. He lost his job as a result of the abusive and violent way he reacted when his supervisor spoke to him about the incident. RTFT.
Nocar · 01/02/2021 09:27

I think a lot of people are just reacting to the headline and haven’t bothered to read the full story, that goes for on here and the Dm site and probably why he’s managed to get some supporters for his petition to get reinstated.
People don’t seem to have the ability to spend 10 mins reading the full story anymore, instead preferring an easily digestible headline to be outraged at before moving onto the next one.

This is exactly why the tabloids have so much influence. They know that there are many people who don’t bother to read a story properly or read up on an issue and will form their based on a dodgy headline. The tabloids have the power to persuade these fools about pretty much anything.
Goodbye2020Hello2021 · 01/02/2021 10:12

‘form their opinion based on..’

willFOURbagsbeenough · 01/02/2021 11:07

😂

Heads will roll! Or fly after being Kung fu kicked!

TakeTheCuntOutOfScunthorpe · 01/02/2021 11:14

It reminds me of that woman who was caught on camera putting a cat in a trash can, who claimed people shouldn't have a go at her because "it's just a cat."

Kicking a snowman on it's own is an unpleasant but minor thing to do... it warrants a telling off from your manager if you do it in company uniform on company time. But as with the "cat lady" it's not a one-off, out of character, spur of the moment misjudgement.

Fimofriend · 01/02/2021 11:18

When people get fired for a small issue it is usually because they were already on probation for other incidents.
