Would you have reported?
I'm not a fan of reporting for reporting sake so this has shocked me.
Just what outcome was expected by sending footage to his bosses?

YABU = he deserves to lose his job.
YANBU = it's batshit he kicked a snowman.

Soz if there has been a thread already.
@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken Apart from this he was charged with head butting bar staff and two police men. Why is anyone sticking up for this guy?!
So they should have sacked him for this!
How is assaulting a human being ok but kicking a bit of snow punishable by losing your job?

rwalker · 31/01/2021 17:03

Really couldn't get excited about this .If he'd been employed by council doubt he would of been sacked.
It's all to do with he's agency someones complained the asked for him not to be sent again easy fix for council .

Imagine going for an interview being asked why you left your last job "I kicked a snowman ".

Cocomarine · 31/01/2021 17:05

Last year he drunkenly head butted two policemen.

This man is a total fucking arsehole.

I think he should be sacked (or rather, not used via the agency again) for the snowman incident even without that bit of information. But his previous behaviour certainly shows that guided wasn’t a lapse of judgment in an otherwise good man.

Lucky woman that’s currently pregnant by him 😕

AliceMcK · 31/01/2021 17:05

He should of get a telling off from his bosses for his behaviour while working but loosing his job is way over the top.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 31/01/2021 17:05

Sounds like whoever is in charge of such matters wanted an excuse not to have him there. Possibly justified and supported by the rest of the team who had to put up with his antics.

Violinist64 · 31/01/2021 17:07

I think they are behaving like snowflakes themselves. He behaved in a stupid, immature manner but a verbal warning and an apology to the family concerned was the most that should have happened.

saraclara · 31/01/2021 17:10

Until I followed the link I was ready to be sympathetic to him. But a) he wasn't sacked and b) he sounds like a peach.

A court heard he had been boozing on July 4 when the lockdown was eased on so-called 'Super Saturday' but was refused entry to a pub beer garden because he was so drunk.
After refusing to leave, Woodhouse grabbed a barman's shirt and shoved him while shouting and swearing at other pub goers.

He left the pub but was stopped by police. Woodhouse then threatened to strangle an officer with his handcuffs in they tried to arrest him.
Officers called for emergency backup, and Woodhouse, who was trying to bang his head on the floor, was put in restraining belts.
While being taken to A&E by ambulance, he threatened police and headbutted one officer in the leg.

He headbutted another officer in the side of the head as he was taken away from the hospital.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 31/01/2021 17:10

We don't know how many warnings he was one before this one. I suspect it wasn't the first.

Nocar · 31/01/2021 17:13

On the face of it no, but overall he doesn’t come across as a particularly pleasant character, so don’t imagine it’s an isolated incident. If he’s got a child on the way would he kick the head off his kids snowmen too.
Dont think he should lose his job, perhaps verbal warning and apology.
Council have overacted. Don’t think family wrong to report.
Lesson for him on professional conduct while working IMO.

No rather than manager have to follow complaints procedure do fact finding interviews and take statements of other people there.

Then follow discipline procedure and report back to the person who complained and deal with shit of them . You'd just pick the phone up and ask agency to send someone else

He refused to apologise.

BuntysTwinkle · 31/01/2021 17:24

Given his "impressive" history, I'm guessing he was on a final warning.

I wouldn't worry. There's probably already a just fund me set up. And let's hope his own kid sees some of it...

Spybot · 31/01/2021 17:26

Absolutely ridiculous and an over reaction. I hope that the family whose snowman it was feels awful that they have now put him out of work during a pandemic. What a dreadful thing to do to someone.

Leannethom85 · 31/01/2021 17:26

What else does he kick on his rounds though for a laugh? Someone he doesn't like car or a random cat or dog. He's supposed to be working not showing off in front of his workmates and I doubt that was the real reason he was sacked.

Caesargeezer · 31/01/2021 17:34

He shouldn't have behaved like that while he was working. It's just not acceptable! It's not a nice thing to do anyway, but in the circumstances he definitely deserved a warning. Who knows how many he's had?

NovemberR · 31/01/2021 17:36

Yeah, I'm not crying for him having read the full story.

I'm sorrier for the policeman he headbutted and the bar staff he caused issues for. He's a yob.

warmandtoasty2day · 31/01/2021 17:37

what a twat ! i feel sorry for his unborn child having such a nasty piece of work for a so called father.

They didn't demand he was sacked. The council asked the agency not to send him again. It was his attitude, refusal to apologise and his overall, ongoing behaviour that led to him losing his job with the agency. Like PP, I seriously doubt this was his first 'offence' at work.

DaylightSunlight · 31/01/2021 17:41

@PlanDeRaccordement

He's an angry, violent thug

Let’s not throw racist pejoratives about when there is no harm done by kicking at a a lump of snow.

Don't understand - How is it racist to say he's an angry, violent thug? Anyone with this type of behaviour and record displays anger, violence and thuggery.
Mittens030869 · 31/01/2021 17:42

It was a very mean thing to do and he did deserve to be reported. It’s the sort of thing I’d expect from a playground bully not a grown-up working man.

I don’t think he should have lost his job, a warning would have sufficed. Although tbf this may not have been an isolated incident.

It shouldn’t have ended up in the DM, though, that really is OTT.

SnowmanMurder · 31/01/2021 17:43

I saw the original Facebook post (since deleted) of the lady who complained. Her son did not witness the 'attack', the family were out at the time. She watched their (apparently illegal) cctv footage back and that's when she saw what had happened.

As for the binman, his friends have said on Facebook that he actually lost his position with the agency due to becoming aggressive and threatening his manager when being told off about the incident. He apparently had to be escorted off the premises by police.

Doublefaced · 31/01/2021 17:46

I can’t believe people are sympathetic to this aggressive little thug.

MaeveDidIt · 31/01/2021 17:46

He's been a bit of a twat, but shouldn't have lost his job.

iklboo · 31/01/2021 17:53

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 31/01/2021 17:53

He looks like an absolute dick in that clip. Obviously thinks he's a bit of a ticket. I wouldn't want him working for my company.
