Would you have reported?
I'm not a fan of reporting for reporting sake so this has shocked me.
Just what outcome was expected by sending footage to his bosses?

YABU = he deserves to lose his job.
YANBU = it's batshit he kicked a snowman.

Soz if there has been a thread already.

So many hard working decent people need a job right now. He will easily be replaced by the agency. Hopefully a decent human being will have been given his round instead.

CSIblonde · 31/01/2021 18:50

If he was permanent not agency staff they'd be on dodgy ground for getting rid. It was childish & thoughtless, but worth a verbal warning, no more . The homeowner should have given him a verbal bollocking then left it at that IMO as technically it was on their property .

Bloodypunkrockers · 31/01/2021 18:52

I can't believe the number of posters sticking up for the wee thug.

He was an agency worker. He wasn't sacked. He has no remorse

I work with strutting little twats like this. I absolutely knew there would be a baby on the way too.

All his fault. No one else to blame.

Bloodypunkrockers · 31/01/2021 18:55

@Spybot

Absolutely ridiculous and an over reaction. I hope that the family whose snowman it was feels awful that they have now put him out of work during a pandemic. What a dreadful thing to do to someone.
Really. Maybe you could offer him a job to make up for it

Pretty sure becoming aggressive, abusive and having to be removed by police while being given a verbal warning crosses into gross misconduct.

Arobase · 31/01/2021 19:00

@Hugoslavia

It was a mean thing to do. He deserved a warning at least.
They tried. It appears that his own friends have said that he was actually sacked for his aggressive reaction to the warning and threats to his manager. Which makes the rest of his sob-story all a bit dubious, too.
funinthesun19 · 31/01/2021 19:02

why are people saying we shoudl never complain because of the pandemic

It’s like some people think we have all morphed in to delicate little flowers since last March and we should all be kind and understanding. 🙄

No, sorry. If someone has been horrible then they should absolutely be pulled up on it. Pandemic or no pandemic.

AKissAndASmile · 31/01/2021 19:09

He sounds like a dickhead. Fuck him. He doesn't deserve all this angst.

Fembot123 · 31/01/2021 19:11

@GabsAlot

why are people saying we shoudl never complain because of the pandemic -the man is an agreesive dangeous person that think he can go round punching abusing and then upsetting kids

serves himr right

He punched a kid??
BMW6 · 31/01/2021 19:19

I think he's a nasty little twat and I'm sue the Council can employ someone who isn't!

Should he lose his job? Why not - he's shown what a petty piece of work he is. He represents the Council, his employers.

FreshFancyFrogglette · 31/01/2021 19:29

Did he punch or abuse any kids? I missed that. Thought he just kicked a snowman over Confused

iklboo · 31/01/2021 19:29

@Fembot123 - no he punched a barman & head butted two police officers after being refused entry to a beer garden for being too drunk.

corythatwas · 31/01/2021 19:30

If anyone is a snowflake in this story, it would appear to be the binman who can't cope with a telling-off from his manager.

Maybe a warning that we should all work on bringing up resilient children who can cope with being told they are in the wrong.

Ahh so he got fired for that or did that just come out after snowmangate?

StoneofDestiny · 31/01/2021 19:40

Wouldn't have complained about a snowman however, the rest of the background info sounds like he is a thug and definitely not going to be the ideal father.

CostaDelCovid · 31/01/2021 19:53

YANBU

iklboo · 31/01/2021 19:59

Fembot - that came out after the snowman thing. Looks like his 'friends' may have been quite eager to provide the info.

rwalker · 31/01/2021 20:15

@whatisthislifesofullofcare
The snowman was on a public pavement, it wasn’t on private property and did not belong to the child.

The parent, instead of teaching her child resilience by demonstrating a proportionate response, like rebuilding it to show the kid how unfair, bad things can happen but they can be fixed, that adults can be relied on to help make things right, catastrophises things and bestows victim mentality on her kid. What’s he going to do when a neighbour washes off his chalked hop scotch bed? Phone the police? Honestly.

Couldn't agree more
Going to the papers they have sold there story and cctv footage they sound grim.

GabsAlot · 31/01/2021 20:17

sorry worded it wrong hed punched someone else previously and had been charged

DaylightSunlight · 31/01/2021 20:18

I also agree the daily mail thing was OTT.

From the look of it, the binman contacted the papers to make them aware of the petition. Then DM got in touch with the family.

And, for the benefit of anyone who didn't see it the first time round:

As for the binman, his friends have said on Facebook that he actually lost his position with the agency due to becoming aggressive and threatening his manager when being told off about the incident. He apparently had to be escorted off the premises by police.

He could have kept his job if he'd acted like a normal, decent human being. Wouldn't be surprised if his colleagues are glad to be rid of him.

Scbchl · 31/01/2021 20:44

Snowmans heads are for volleying off are they not 🤷‍♀️

MrMeSeeks · 31/01/2021 20:44

Although from sounds of it he’s not the most pleasant of people, i cannot believe someone really rang up to complain about this.
It’s a bloody snowman, frozen water.
You’d really ring to complain that someone kicked it? Do you not have enough in your life that you need to complain about this?
I would feel bad and embarrassed that i’d both complained and that everyone now knew it was meConfused

willFOURbagsbeenough · 31/01/2021 21:15

So no one actually rang his employer to complain.

The homeowner shared the footage of him doing it on Facebook, it was spotted by his employers who must have recognised that it was him or at least one of their employees. They called him in to speak to him about it, he swore and became aggressive, refused to apologise when asked and had to be escorted off his work premises by police.

willFOURbagsbeenough · 31/01/2021 21:16

His friends then started a go fund me page for him and he Contacted the press to get some publicity for his go fund me page.
