Inspired by another thread of places you have no desire to visit and a poster mentioned New York as having loads of rats, where have you travelled to that had loads of rodents? Except squirrels of course, they are exempted haha. And yes of course I know they are everywhere, but it's rare you see any day to day in the UK. I think! I am so so scared of them! That rat temple in India is the stuff of my nightmares.

I’ve seen lots of mice on the London Underground.

Covidcorvid · 31/01/2021 12:38

And I’ve been to York lots, have relatives living there and never noticed any rats.

Ariela · 31/01/2021 12:39

Any railway station, Just look and you'll see them

York or New York, though?

Several people have mentioned Berlin to me. Rats everywhere apparently

New York - not York

recently I've seen them in a lot more places, I was going to post a thread asking if they were becoming more prevalent 😭 yesterday at a children's play park in Manchester one was running around under a bridge the kids were playing on 😱 I've seen them at 2 different McDonald's... Saw some at flamingo land a few months ago, in the animal pens nicking the other animals food... Also saw some near a lake that is meant to be a beauty spot. These are all in day light.

Afewgoodnames · 31/01/2021 12:42

My neighbours' gardens......

bellropes · 31/01/2021 12:42

Round the backs of restaurants.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 31/01/2021 12:45

An old hotel on Isle of Wight- teeming with them. it was derelict so they probably had the run of the place.

I had great fun watching their antics from our hotel across the road, climbing up the building and through windows etc.

Lots of mice on the underground- they’re very sweet, just scratching a living, I love seeing them.

Mouse in our house- was not okay with that.

HarrietSchulenberg · 31/01/2021 12:45

Anywhere where there is food dropped on the ground or easily accessible. If you sit still long enough and keep an eye out you'll spot them. Children's playgrounds that have cafes nearby can be rather interesting for rats after dark.

If you mean where is utterly overrun with them and you'll definitely see them in broad daylight then as PPs have said, the tube would be a safe bet to visit. Look at the extreme ends of platforms and down on the lines.

OhWhyNot · 31/01/2021 12:45

Thailand and Vietnam

Those lovely paradise beaches are loved by rats as well as humans

At least they tend to hide away there in India they come out to play have no fear of humans

The biggest rat I have seen was in Knightsbridge opposite Harrods I still go queasy thinking about it (people were jumping up on there chairs in the cafe and screaming)

Chihuahuacat · 31/01/2021 12:46

Paris - loads in the gardens in front of the Eiffel Tower where people sit and have picnics...

Oh sorry. That’s my dyslexia skipping words. I have no idea about New York and rodents. Grin
Covidcorvid · 31/01/2021 12:48

Oh god, and I’ve quoted the wrong message! 🙈

SmidgenofaPigeon · 31/01/2021 12:48

Ooh London zoo has a lot of rats and mice too.

LBunz · 31/01/2021 12:48

My local Tesco car park is absolutely teaming with them.

B33Fr33 · 31/01/2021 12:49

Supermarket car parks, most lakes where people go to feed the wildlife. In fact at an RSPCA site near me they have viewing gaps right next to the bird feeders that are the shape of creatures you might see. The ones nearest the ground are rat shaped.

Chanjer · 31/01/2021 12:49

The area around temple tube station is heaving with them

eggsbenedict7 · 31/01/2021 12:49

I stepped on a rat walking down the street in New York once 🤢

HarrietSchulenberg · 31/01/2021 12:50

Thinking about it, OP you can come to look in my shed to see if mine have moved back in yet. Used to see small things late at night moving between my shed and next door's garden, where they had lots of rabbit food and bacon rinds and slices of bread thrown down "for the birds". Wasn't sure if they were mice or baby rats as too fast to tell. Rats send their young out to bring food back so they were probably rat babies. Anyway, Dog killed 2 big ones last year and I've not seen anything since but I do wonder if they're still around, just better hidden.

Hailtomyteeth · 31/01/2021 12:51

Isle of Man. Long tails. Seen them on the roads, teeming.

Biggest rat I've ever seen was at a school where I was teaching. I'm not being rude about the headteacher (though he referred to himself as 'Stalin'), it was an actual rat. Huge.

Interweb · 31/01/2021 12:52

My bloody shed last year. Old gone now though.

Clymene · 31/01/2021 12:52

London

SmidgenofaPigeon · 31/01/2021 12:53

The foxes actually eat a lot of the rats in London.
