To ask what your favourite gin is?

Currently on calorie counting so I've been parted with my favourite Prosecco since the 2 Jan.

I've been drinking gin instead as my second favourite tipple of choice. Currently I'm liking Hendrick's but I get bored.

Should I stick, or twist?

I usually drink Bombay Sapphire. I was bought Hendricks as a present which was lovely. Not sure about the flavoured gins. I bought a Bombay Sapphire bramble one which was quite frankly dire. Gordon's pink was not nice but I drank it anyway but the Sicilian lemon one I actually did like but not right away. Might try the Sipsmith lemon one. Dh likes sloe gin and 1 year we made our own which was very nice. We had bought the gin at a duty free for about £7 a litre bottle so it worked out great.
There are some gin distilleries near us so keep meaning to try some of our local ones.

QueenofLouisiana · 28/01/2021 20:34

I like gin from The Suffolk Distillery, ideally with rosemary tonic. If I’m fancying pink gin, I like the one from Aldi.
I’d never be upset by a Gordon’s and recent tonic.

PointyMcguire · 28/01/2021 20:35

@parisbynight DH & I have just moved to Norfolk, any recommendations of what we should be drinking would be much appreciated Grin

superram · 28/01/2021 20:36

Limehouse pink gin but a drier one from my home town is poetic license.

Ginfordinner · 28/01/2021 20:37

Inspired by this thread, I have done a bit of googling and found this

Inmyownlittlecorner · 28/01/2021 20:38

Gwyr gin is my new favourite. I like the one in the red striped bottle. It almost doesn’t need tonic. They have an offer on for miniatures atm so I’ve got a few more to try!

LizzieMacQueen · 28/01/2021 20:38

See at least one other has suggested this but,

Cotswolds gin

You don't need to try any others.

Kottbullar · 28/01/2021 20:38

Strangely I used to love Ophir then I went to a gin tasting night where you sniffed the botanicals then tasted the gin now all I taste is curry and I can't stand it.

I'm currently enjoying Martin Millers and Sipsmiths. I had some Brecon gin for Christmas but it's a big headachy.

Ginfordinner · 28/01/2021 20:39

@cardibach

It’s personal taste I guess, but I find Gordon’s really grim *@Ginfordinner* Just chemically. I also like juniper forward gin.
Does it have a pronounced juniper taste @cardibach?
Bookriddle · 28/01/2021 20:39

My friend works at haymans gin, theres is not to bad!

They bottle quite a few gins there
Plymouth gin
Sipsmith
Adnhams

Just the name some of the popular ones

PatButchersRightEarring · 28/01/2021 20:39

@PointyMcguire Black Shuck gin if you’re on Norfolk.

I have been a gin drinker long before it became trendy. I’ve tried 100s but always come back to Bombay Sapphire with a good tonic, ice and lime. However, I also like Cambridge Dry. I don’t like the flavoured stuff but did try Bombay Bramble and thought it was ok!

I also flavour my own with fruits from my garden....

BarryTheChopper · 28/01/2021 20:39

Favourite ever gin is Few Breakfast gin.

It tastes slightly of Earl grey, although a pp’s suggestion of Gordon’s and earl grey teabags may just have to be tried!

Also:

Edinburgh seaside gin
Roku
Rock Rose
Mermaid pink gin
Ophir

ReviewingTheSituation · 28/01/2021 20:41

Cotswold. Delicious.
Glugglejug, but that's hard to come by.

Waitrose Essentials is my tonic of choice. Fever Tree isn't bubbly enough for me. Not a fan of Schweppes or Aldi/Lidl own.

@DontBuyANewMumCashmere

I drink Copper House which is made by Adnams brewery. It's absolutely gorgeous. They do a raspberry version (lush) and a vodka/gin blend (rank). Tesco used to sell it but can't seem to get it there anymore. We bulk buy so we don't run out!
Adnams do a triple distilled malt gin which is even nicer!
ChampionOfTheSun · 28/01/2021 20:43

Adnams Copper House is my favourite!

PatButchersRightEarring · 28/01/2021 20:43

Co-op do a London dry which is actually really nice too

Adnam's gin is made at Adnams in Southwold. I really thought it was bottled there too, surprised it isn't! I guess the plant isn't that big, the lorries go past my mum's house, they make a racket!
FenellaVelour · 28/01/2021 20:45

Deaths Door or Silent Pool.

30not13 · 28/01/2021 20:47

Red Door

Snawstorm

Bombay Sapphire

Gordons Pink

nixso29 · 28/01/2021 20:47

My treat gin is always Tanqueray No.10 or Malfy (either pink grapefruit or original) really like Monkey 47 bit can't justify the price tag so would only have it when out

AgeLikeWine · 28/01/2021 20:48

I like Hendrick’s with cucumber, of course, and I also like Tanqueray Sevilla which is flavoured with bitter Seville oranges. I was sceptical about this stuff before I tasted it, assuming it would be far too sweet, but it absolutely isn’t. It’s delicious.

goose1964 · 28/01/2021 20:48

Cardiff gin, it's great if you like aniseed
